Video Games General

Been playing Destiny for awhile and since the last gun games I've been playing were Remnant II and boomer shooter games

I can say this almost instinctively just makes me think of back when I played Halo, a decade at least back….how much was recycled?

Bungie started working on Destiny before Halo 3 ODST released, that's why there's a bunch of posters in the game saying Destiny with a picture of the Traveller on them.
This also doesn't mean anything was recycled, Bungie has a distinctive style of gameplay so of course games are going to feel familiar unless they go out of their way to do something different.

The planets' individual levels keep feeling like I'm starting off in the same area, regardless of quest

Almost the same landscapes and corridors, feels like I'm in the same place again and again whether it's on the moon or on earth

Got a bunch of games from the winter sale yet I've mostly been playing Warframe and a literal waifur collector called Nolgorb's Ordeal.

Also starting Siralim Ultimate. For some reason I have a lot of PC RPG games that I've never actually played. I also got both Starcom games from Wx3 Labs. It's been a long time since I played the original flash game and I'm happy to play again around a decade later.

Anybody wish Infamous makes a comeback? If I have millions of dollars to buy Sucker Punch Studios, I make my own take on Infamous story.

No, but only because I'd instead prefer to have Prototype make a comeback instead. :V
Hah, sure pal. Edgy, gory game where your power consumes people and clothes on a molecular level?

Don't insult me pal. The emoji was already a dead giveaway.

Sides, it'll cater to the current sociopolitical nature of the America's game industry. That's good right?

:V

Before any of you buggers call the mods, I'm not continuing any debate with inklings to politics.

I can't be the only one who hates it when they decide on future plots based on the actions taken or not taken by the majority in their first time through the previous game, right?

That's why I didn't play Second Son. New protagonist I don't care about. Lore broken (all Conduits means ALL Conduits) so the story could continue anyway.

I had a proposed plot for a sequel to part 2 that doesn't break the lore over its knee- a twin-plot in two timelines, same city, different features. Saint Cole in the future realizing he fucked up by cutting off the path of human evolution, leading to people going the other way, born as virtual neanderthals, competing with the other faction of rich folks looking to advance their gene sequence by stealing the organs of the people that haven't devolved, Vandread style, mostly represented by robots, seeking a prototype of the Ray Sphere that may be still hidden there that might be capable of not just sparking but creating the Conduit gene.

Beast Cole in the past, in the same city, looking for the same item in the hopes of saving a few more, facing off against the government sponsored 'superheroes' with their machine-made soldiers like the fire and ice ones from 2... and no, they haven't fixed the problems, but nobody mentioned that to any of them.

And a connection neither of them understand, giving them hints from the past/future whenever they run into a roadblock in their own time, possibly culminating in a decision as to which timeline gets the Orb. Whichever it is, Cole probably needs therapy after this.

Yeah, I've heard about them.supposedly Infamous 2 Evil Cole would have been the true ending. But after seeing many choosing to be the Good Cole, they decide to have that as the canon ending?

Justifying why some Conduits survive anyway, is cause RFI wasn't as effective as they expected?

Like how detergents only kill off 99.9 percent germs and bacteria sort of song?

Wish we got a Conduit supremacy world where we play as a persecuted Normies trying to fight against the system set up by Beast Cole. Would be fun to play. And then gets a power as some form of twisted punishment or something. Or he's a soldier climbing the ranks in hopes of overthrowing Cole.

A Look into the abyss type of vibe.

And I kinda wished being good and evil alters the body and powers. Even the finishing move aside from just effects. Have it changed a little.

Maybe Beast Cole stabilized the Vermaak 88 gene and can create endless supply of Blast Core for folks by nuking common folks lmao?

Cole's lightning took a blue hue when he is a good guy and when he's evil, his lightning is red and his body looks grostesque. I like that your psyche can actually affect how you look physically.

Man, I just wished we can fuse powers again.

What powers you wish the MC gets if you can change it up?

Wowz where the fuck did everyone went? Kek moment indeed. There like four guest users. Huh, guess I didn't hit dead center on the lore of Infamous lmao.

No one wants to engage?

Edit: and now there's only one.

I'm gonna be real with you here boss, I have absolutely no idea what the fuck all your deranged ranting is about. The primary reason I prefer Prototype over Infamous (other than the fact that Infamous is exclusively on a console I've never owned) is because my favorite horror movie of all time is John Carpenter's The Thing, and so any sort of game where you basically play as the monster from that movie is inherently appealing to me. It's why I also enjoyed Carrion for example, even though that game is a very different experience from the Prototype games.

Took you long enough to reply. Shit, where you'd been homie. So, what the fuck you think of a possibility of a Prototype 3 return?

You should've said that first man. You know how many people think this game is an edgefest? The edgegod that is Alex J.Mercer., running around and stabbing and punching people in one hit?

They don't understand our boy got depths like Cole Macgrath. What was the console you had at the time? PC?

And next time, try not to use emojis. I couldn't tell if you're bullshitting or being genuine ;/

This may surprise you, but people actually have these wonderful things called jobs, and mine doesn't give me the luxury of having Sundays off. I responded to you within 24 hours of your original post. That's a more than reasonable time frame on a web forum like this.

Despite my previous statements saying that I'd love it to happen, I have no illusions about it ever becoming a reality. Between the studio being shut down, and the IP being in the hands of Activision, my only real hope is that someone makes a spiritual successor to it, similar to what Cities Skyline is to SimCity, or what Aero GPX is to F-Zero.

Yeah, I know. That's why I love those games. The fact that it lets me be an unmitigated monster both figuratively and literally is at least 90 percent of the appeal.

And next time, try not to use emojis. I couldn't tell if you're bullshitting or being genuine ;/
That's because I was doing both at the exact same time. I genuinely want to see a new Prototype game, and I was also bullshitting you by bringing up Prototype in response to your mention of Infamous, because of how the original entries in those franchises were seen as rivals of sorts to each other. There's a reason why back in the day, Yahtzee decided to take the piss out of both games by challenging the devs to send him pictures of the other studio's protagonist wearing women's underwear to determine which game was the best.

Fun fact about Anton Blast. Boiler City is canonically located in Florida

Source: Mad Mall, Boiler City, Florida

This explains a lot about the setting. The place is right above Hell

That's a nice videogame idea/setting

Hell or some strange eldritch dimension tried invading Florida, only to get shot to death or be attacked by the wildlife and be stuck in the native flora

They tried it in Texas, only to just be shot to death

I'm pretty sure I've heard a version of that elsewhere. Something like "Florida is the best possible place for a zombie apocalypse because the only place the zombies can go to get to the rest of us is straight through trigger happy redneck country."

Zombies are only so dangerous when they can run towards you

Part of the fun of games like Dead Rising is tearing them apart and using them as amusement park props

I don't know any other games that did what Dead Rising did to zombies

Does anyone know of a Story Only playlist for Last Origin? I got the hankering to get to know the setting but my Google-fu is weak and YouTube seems to not have anything.

Did you try Google translating your words into Korean and using it to search?

This is a bit awkward to help with because while I try and keep an eye on it for the art my knowledge of story sources isn't great. I know there's someone on twitter who does Japanese translations of story events. The last origin fan wiki meanwhile seems to have translations in english but no videos. If you speak korean there a site that has a google doc that's basically every scene from the game in one spot but well, it's in Korean.
Searching for Last Origin story videos brought up this guy. Obvious issue in that it's all in Korean but can't be helped.
No, mostly because I have... experiences with GT.
Yeah there's only so much you can do to try and follow a game in a different language without using that. Though I just cheesed it by copying Last Origin story from the korean wiki. Google translate is generally your friend for this sort of thing though.

Go to 4chan's vmg (Video Games Mobile) catalog

They always have a Last Origin thread online and have instructions on how to change languages

It's a very wonky translation mind you made in-house by people who obviously don't know english all that well but its something and gets the feeling and personalities across somewhat

Also if you're looking for the art of the units there's this site. More modern units have their skins with interactions on show (like how you can undo Christmas Pixie's boob ribbon to liberate her tits)

I think I'll just use this, and maybe the fandom wiki, to draw inspiration from and just skip LO for my story idea then.
It has no shortage of sexy gals to use for faceclaims if that's your goal. :V

As for funny tidbits, the religious themed bioroids like the angels and the nun are barred from wearing underwear by their religion. NiBA is basically an adorable chuuni who's thing is turning bunnysuits into reverse bunny ones and had an event where she did just that to multiple ones which remained as options for skins. Machina's thing is holograms and she has a holographic wedding dress and made a pair of holographic magical girl outfits for two of the cute stealth operative types. Fenrir's first costume (ie the one where she's naked) is based on an event where the wolf girl went into heat and dragged the protag to a room solo. Kunoichi Zero and Kunoichi Kaen are sisters (it's complicated since they're bioroids and actor ones at that which tend to be programmed to think they really are the role they're acting) who's real names are Sumire and Hatsuna respectively. Kunoichi Enrai is their mother.

Wow that's a way better wiki than the old one
Tfw you've linked so many wikis you can't be sure which someone means.

As an interesting note, the Korean wiki also puts a summary of a character's role in story appearances and what they did there in their pages. Also it has funny descriptions for outfits and characters like how it calls Momo's wand "Allah's magic wand" because it's basically an RPG warhead on a staff. So if you're willing to put up with google translate or can speak Korean it's worth going over chars there. Also if a char had story cgs with them in it they'll show up in the page like the one Blackwyrm has.
