LOL so many salty bitches complaining about the smallest things in the comments. Granted some of them ARE valid, but most of them are just stupid nitpicking.

Many small bad things make up for a worse whole. Worse graphics, various npcs got changed, Edward's model apparently doesn't gradually change (chief example being his gun holsters which were added when he crafted them in the original and just empty in the remake).

I mean, the biggest problem I had with OG Black Flag is something they can't change and it's the story. Never mind all the annoying Assassin's Creed bullshit with Abstergo and constantly pulling you out of the plot and stuff, it's also a story about the end of the age of piracy and starts to get really depressing once all your pirate buddies start getting killed off or imprisoned. By the end of it you're effectively the last pirate in the Caribbean.

Comes with the territory of that piracy era lasting only like 15 years. It was always going to end with most dead and the survivors going into hiding or becoming part of the respectable society through their amassed wealth.

Which is another reason why Windrose is already the better pirate game, since it's just going full Pirates of the Caribbean on the setting instead of being limited by historical accuracy.

Welp beat Megaman 7.

"Die Wily!"

Ya know... valid.

Megaman has fought Wily 7 times now. Who knows how many innocents have gotten caught in the crossfire. Even then... he hesitated to pull the trigger. Might have been because of his programing or his own struggles but he still hesitated and Bass had just enough time to rescue Wily.

Again with the somber ending. Megaman walking away from the exploding base with the knowledge that nothing is solved. This is going to happen again.

How many will die next time?

Even that last picture... Megaman looks livid and Roll looks concerned.

At least that's how I interpret everything.

Welp time for Megaman 8!

didn't PotC end with "the end of the time of pirates is approaching" as well?
The first one ends with Jack sailing off to his next adventure while Norrington is like "Let's give him a day's head start just for funsies." The third one ends with the entire East India Company turning tail and running for their lives from the pirate lords and the Flying Dutchman. And if the later movies do this then that's just another reason to ignore them.

The second movie literally starts with hundreds of pirates getting executed.

I'm not sure where to find them anymore, but before you move onto the X Series (assuming you do) I might recommend trying to find Megaman Unlimited- not sure where to find it anymore, but it's a fan game that's just pre-cataclysm, after... 10, at least. It was pretty good, and... Yoko Man? Was an interesting enemy and level. The true villain behind the disappearing blocks.

There's also Megapony, which is actually also damn good, but that's more of a niche thing. I'm also not sure where to find it... besides my hard drive, anyway.

I plan to do all the megaman games. I'll check out Unlimited but probably after I clear the official games. My current plan is to finish the classic games, go into X and Zero, then I'll hit 11 and then Battle Network. After I'll hit Legends.

Not sure where Dive fits into things but I'll be playing that too.

When I'm done I'll tackle Unlimited.

By my understanding it's purely a matter of Megaman still being Three Laws Compliant. At this point, he really wants to just end Wily, but he physically cannot follow through on it. The bit about Megaman claiming he's 'more than just a robot' is apparently an English localization addition. In Japanese, he just goes into ellipses in response to Wily bringing up the Three Laws.

To my understanding, all official statements seem to reject the idea of there having been a 'catalysm' between the Classic and X series.

Still on Songs of Syx.

Started a new run with the Amevias, water-loving lizardmen with a taste for fish.

A few hours later, I now run an Amevia-only Ethnostate (No scaleless land-walkers allowed!), with a large population of Garthimi slaves working in my mines.

I got an army up and running, equipped in plate and with warhammers, forming up several companies' worth, and they managed to fend off several raids. There is a Garthimi state next to me that constantly demanded I pay them taxes, even though I'm not their vassal, but not having a military, I had to pay up, but once I got my hammer-wielding lizard warriors going, and sent them to demolish a few raiders, these demands ceased. Mind you, they did that before I had slaves, so I doubt these two are related. My Dondorian neighbor to the north is a total bro though, hasn't done anything to antagonize me, and is eager to trade with me, so I sell him a ton of weapons my forges churn out.

Right now, I'm expanding on my main cash crop, that being cotton, and maintain my techbase via building a ton of libraries, while continuing to grow my military. At some point, I plan to assail the Garthimi state to my west, for these bugs had the gall to humiliate me with fraudulent taxes, and my warriors' hammers thirst for their ichor. Soon, my lizard legions shall put these insects in their proper place, carapaces crushed under the heels of my legions.

Also, Amevias like swimming, so I went out of my way to build a swimming pool or two, which saw alot of use as soon as they were done.

My Lizard city may not be Rome yet, the streets are too much of a clusterfuck for that, but soon, soon the world shall tremble at the sound of clawed feet marching to the sound of conch-shell horns. Whether my ambition can be realized and the Empire of Arganthar rises, or the Amevias are driven back into the sea where they came from, their dream only a fanciful fantasy, is known only to the gods. If only they could breed faster, because I have a bit of a worker deficit. I have a Plan B, which is "Buy Amevia slaves and emancipate them to artificially induce immigration", but freeing slaves makes your populace unhappy, so, go figure.

That game lets me indulge my inner Bronze Age Monarch, and, boy, I sank a solid 67 hours total into it by now, and I bought it a little over a week ago, so I can only recommend it. Just make sure it doesn't interfere with any schedules or appointments you have, as sometimes you are so focused on the game you lose time.

Yeah, going by how prominent Pirates are in the popular consciousness, the type you think of weren't around for long.

Even if you expand it to include the Indian Ocean alongside the Atlantic, you are still looking at a period of less than a century here, to the point that someone born at its start, assuming no secondary factors, could feasibly have seen its end. There are the odd outliers, like Zheng Yi Sao, who was active in the early 1800s, but they are pretty rare.

And the East India Company is the only power anywhere nearby the carribian?
They're by far the largest and the most threatening, yes. This is the company that almost single-handedly subjugated the entire Indian subcontinent on behalf of the British Empire and got away with perpetrating the slave trade long after it was supposed to have been abolished throughout the Empire.

I don't know when this is set, but the early US wasn't the naval power of the modern day. It took a long time before they were a serious contender in the region and even then they mostly stuck to bullying the ailing Spanish for fun. (Ok and to make territorial gains but it's funnier this way)

Yeah, the US didn't become the naval power until... really WW2. The US Navy started to really come into its own during/shortly after WW1, but the Royal Navy was still on top at the time.

The time period depicted by Pirates of the Caribbean (and AC Black Flag) is the post-Spanish Succession era of piracy which is roughly 1715-1730. The American Revolution is still about 35-40 years away after the end of this period.

There's a reason when the US did the whole Monroe Doctrine thing it was basically them saying it with Britain's support and approval and with the Brits doing the actual legwork of enforcing it at least as far as they felt like it. Basically Britain did the equivalent of "hey if you write this big declaration saying no one has permission to fuck around in America we'll use it as carte blanche to enforce it because it's to our benefit too wink wink."

Well that pretty much settles it lol. Aside from not existing, there's a long long time before the US is a reasonable naval power at all much less actually able to impose anything.
"The US will oppose your ambitions!"
"Who?"
"Oh right it doesn't even exist yet, ignore us!"

Uh, Mods? Just noticed after rererewatching this to see how many Deadman's Promise enemies and other things I could recognize and one of the enemies in the Video (you Know which one) is the topless ones and only just rememebred this Thread is in the SFW side (is there even an NSFW version of this Thread? I would be exclusively Posting there if there was). Does this count as a Rule 2? It's flailing and the graphics make it hard to tell and it's treated no different then any of the others and YouTube doesn't seem to care but the standards of one platform do not mean shit to another. I just wanted to share the Video around because this is a fun Game and this is one of their new updates about it.
