I looked into it some more and apparently they're about as consistent on it as anything else Nintendo. Sometimes Cranky is his father, sometimes he's Donkey's grandfather.

So, I was looking through the internet for a game that I remember playing a long time ago, back when Impulse was Stardock's child, not GameStop's. Then, after some serious digging, the name was found: Elements of War.

The premise is surprisingly simple: you play as an American officer just as the weather (and Earth) go nuts, leaving you and the base to start picking up the pieces in the area. As you fight the general lawlessness that follows any good apocalypse, you discover US units with a raven insignia that don't respond, and that a Russian-led European coalition unit has landed on US soil to find out what the hell is going on. As you progress, you get access to weapon systems that manipulate the weather and cause earthquakes.

Hopeful that Bethesda used the opportunity with the remaster to integrate and refine some of the older systems for future releases. (It`s on the Unreal 5 engine, so fingers-crossed for there to be less bugs for future games. I`ll have to check-out a Playthrough to see what has changed before even thinking of buying a copy myself.)

More so, I want them to figure out how to include third party mod support so we can keep the community alive. (Also my wish that they finally dumb Gamebryo and just stick to a REAL modern engine for future projects. Bethesda glitches were funny when it was random, now the engine breaks so consistently that player can fix it faster then the developer can by days, or even months.)

Still, I feel overall good and have high hopes it turned out well.
 
I'm just going to assume they messed it up given how they shadow dropped it. At the moment I'm expecting some horrid bug or issue popping up a few days from now. Maybe no modding due to unreal engine bs or some such.

Skimming through steam reviews, it's currently 82% positive on steam, with most negative reviews being bugs and crashes. That said, there are a lot of positive reviews saying it runs great, so make of that what you will. Given it's a game that has a RTX 2080 as it's recommended spec, it's probably not something you should try to crank all the settings up if you don't own a brand new computer.

Beyond that, shit loads of nostalgia in the reviews, so maybe not the most objective crowd, but reviews are mostly positive. Watched a bit of a stream, and it looked great...until they got to the character creator. In short, the ability to make horrific affronts to god and man has been retained, and clicking randomize almost always gives you something deep in uncanny valley, with the exception of the Argonians and Khajitt, who I guess are already alien enough that it isn't as much of an issue. Thankfully, looks like switching races resets things to the defaults, which are mostly fine. You can probably make some decent looking characters, but it'll likely take some work. NPCs mostly looked fine, but I'm a little uncertain how random bandits and such might end up looking if the computer's just hitting randomize.

But by far the bigger issue seems to be that they're not releasing modding tools. This is apparently running on some unholy union of Creation and UE5, with the guts running on the former while the latter handles graphics, but apparently we aren't getting modding tools for this. Given how big the Elder Scrolls modding community is, there will undoubtedly still be mods regardless, but the lack of tools is going to be a problem.

On the plus side, Bethesda is definitely not shutting down Skyblivion, and apparently actually sent the entire mod team free keys for the Remaster. So even if you don't want to shell out for the Remaster, there's still that to look forward too.

Trying to collect enough swamp coral for the anti-theft backpack before I go into the Deep Zone, but it's an absolute bitch. Not least because Marsh areas in the mid-zone keep coming with ultra-shitty junction conditions like Turncoat, Eerie Darkness, and acid water. I have a resource scanner and thermal vacuum, just need to find a marsh that isn't shit. Might've gotten more the last run, but my engine was going out and I was almost out of repair items.

Just finished it myself jsut now. I'm going to have to agree there that while the gameplay is definitely upgraded from the first game, I do feel Lillies' mood and setting was better. Kinda wish Lillies had offered conversations in respites as well, but alas.

At least we got good fanart. I esepcially find the upper left of that one a bit amusing.

Ugh... Been recently playing Victoria 3 again after who-knows-how-long, but what's been being a pain in my ass is a specific glitch/bug that keeps crashing my game every time I try using it: the Nationalization button in the Buildings menu just doesn't work for some damn reason, and I don't know what is causing it. From what I've been able to glean from the error logs, the specific trigger is this line:

[20:27:24][pdx_gui.h:91]: Could not find widget 'nationalize_building_window' in file 'gui/popups.gui'

And my best guess on what it means is: there's supposed to be a pop-up window asking whether to confirm the action or not, but for some reason, the game cannot find said pop-up window in the .gui file for it.

There's the caveat that I'm also running several mods at the same time as well when running the game, but I've been disabling them after each crash session more and more to try narrowing down if it's a mod conflict or not, and I still haven't been able to find the source of the potential conflict! It's driving me nuts. Does anybody have any suggestions or advice to share?

Have you tried running it without mods at all? Haven't poked around with Nationalization myself, but its been a while since I played Vicky 3 (waiting until the Anbennar mod comes out which is why I got Vicky 3 in the first place) though so it probably wasn't a thing then.
 
The only "advice" i could offer is checking if the issue isn't with the base game at first, i.e. opening the game gui anf seeing if the line is actually there...
If it is then the only way to discover the issue is to go through mods one at a time....
Wish i could give better advice....

1) Haven't tried it without any mods quite yet, but that's most likely going to be my next step. And yeah, the Nationalization feature was a new addition made with the Building Ownership Rework in Patch 1.7/Sphere of Influence.

2) Just went and checked it a few minutes ago now, and I've confirmed that, yes, the line is indeed there in the base-game file, so in all likelihood, it's a mod conflict issue. Going through each mod is going to be a pain, though... Sigh.

Well, it's definitely a mod conflict somewhere, as I've now tested it with all but five mods turned off (the mods left on being the "Change Leader Ideology" set, "A World to Win", and "Theresia's Communist Overhaul") and both the Nationalization function and the Company Establishment/Disbandment functions work properly now (I should've mentioned this before, but the Companies buttons weren't working either, but didn't lead to crashes like the Nationalization button did; they just simply didn't function/respond properly).

The question now is which mod(s) specifically are the causing the problem: I can eliminate the above-mentioned mods from consideration, as testing has shown no issues and they do not tamper with the features in question; so that leaves... well, basically everything else I use. Ugh. I have some potential suspects in mind as being responsible for the conflict, whether it'd be the various 'faster construction' mods, canal-related mods, 'more infrastructure buildings' mods, or a few other miscellaneous ones. More testing will be needed to narrow it down... which I'll do later. Constantly re-loading the game is just tedious to deal with.

I believe I finally found the cause of the conflict, and it's from an unexpected place...: The "Retain Homelands on Release UI" mod. Indeed, other players who used have found it causes the exact same problems as well... and unfortunately, the mod hasn't been updated in two years and the mod's developer no longer plays Vicky 3, so it's no longer a viable mod to use. However, I believe it's no longer necessary anyways, as such a feature should be integrated into the base-game itself by now... Should be, is the operative word there. Eh, if not, there's still always the State Transfer Tool.
 
Well..last week bought a game called Dolls Nest, and after over 10 hours and 4 bosses in, think I can honestly recommend it to others...
It's.....it's like an old Armored Core game performed a fusion dance with Dark/Demon's Souls and Nier Automata, and a mecha musume was the result

The gameplay feels like an old AC game, with a designed limit of how fast you can turn, the levels are enormous, where a lot of places are interconnected and there's verticality to all exploration.
The limit of exactly one rest/respawn point per level means you need to balance your resources vs further exploration, especially as there is no item/ability to fast travel back to the respawn tree
There is a large amount of both Armored Frame parts and weapons (and doll appearances) that can be found while exploring(or bought), so you have a variety, and all have multiple tiers of upgrades (and they're all colorable as well)
The PC also has upgradeable stats, but past the initial 10 points you can only get more by defeating a specific miniboss enemy (once per stage) that spawns somewhere on a stage that had its' boss enemy defeated...good luck finding them.
Bosses (based on observation of the first 4, may be wrong about later ones) are...challenging in the sense that they're damage sponges that have weakspots that you want to discover while figuring out there wide area attacks.
Honestly, at the moment, the regular enemies are the greater hassle due to sheer abundance of them combined with limited amount of healing items and finite ammo resourcess...especially when they decide to inflict status effects on you.
Story gives off Nier Automata vibes, as it's all set in a massive machine factory after humanity (got?) dissapeared, can't comment a lot on it as it's part info from an NPC from the hub area, part inferred from NPC interactions in stages

The only downside I'd say is that melee weapons, while strong, are rather...janky. Difficult to gauge the attack distance they work at, very nitpicky at what angle/height the enemy is to register damage, combined with it being on cooldown and the attacks using the energy bar you need for jumping/floating/running/dashing means I don't use it that often despite how strong it is
(I'd call the one rather persistent, if random bug of game crashing at specific menus also a downside, but the devs were already aware of it before a lot of players even noticed, and working to remove it...as soon as they figure out just what exactly is triggering the crash for players)
...oh, the devs also have a permanent collab with Demonbane and Third-generation Seishuusengou Uemon-no-jou Muramasa, where they got the original illustrators/designers of Demonbane and Muramasa to make an Armored Frame versions of them, though how you get them I don't know (and won't look so I can be pleasantly surprised)

Melee attacks need to be aimed with the camera though some enemies do have some annoying hitboxes but aiming towards the main body of enemies is pretty reliable. But yeah, depending on what weapon you're using you're gonna have an easier or harder time. Spear is pretty easy to work with as are the great weapons since they have decent blade reach but the smaller blades require a bit more finesse.
 
Something hilarious just happened.

Bungie got sued for allegedly stealing some guy's WordPress ideas for Destiny 2's original campaign but Bungie can't defend themselves because their live service model has caused the source code of Destiny 2 to change so much that they cannot provide an old build of Destiny 2 as evidence.

So they tried to use third-party Destiny 2 lore videos and cutscene compilations but the judge dismissed it.


Live service games become lost media in real-time. kek :V
 
Mechwarrior 5 Clan - Ghost Bear DLC is... they ramped up the difficulty to be utterly ridiculous but at the same time, they didn't ramp up numbers or add surprise ambushes (yet). Each battle thus far has been fair and incredibly difficult or just straight up RNG fests depending on what hits you or your team. Also, I got straight up murdered by the third mission to the point that I'm redoing the second mission with cheated in supplies to have armor and heat research done to help survive the fucking Union class Dropship that's doing attack runs on my Nova Star. Not sure if this qualifies as a rant or just postive feedback that this game is fun.
