A demo of Digimon Story Time Stranger is dropping on Steam, PS5, and Xbox today/tomorrow (depending on time zones) for those interested.
 
Dunno quite why this has me giggling so hard... Atari gets in on Nintendo's retroactive patent nonsense and claims the rights to video games as a concept, citing Pong. Then goes after Nintendo. Shockedpikachuface.jpg.

Probably won't happen, and if it did Atari would probably take it too far, but it's a hilarious idea.

I did learn that Duck Hunt might be considered to have beaten Pong as the first electronic game, circa 1936. Which is interesting.

I played it, it's pretty fun. Also in addition to the standard "play the first chapter and use your save data for retail" mode, it also has a second mode that doesn't carry over to retail but lets you play around more with the mechanics and experiment with digimon types and stuff, which is pretty neat
 
I'm restarting Cyber Sleuth for the fourth time because I keep getting distracted with other games and quitting partway through the game.

Does anyone have any suggestions for a non- medal related challenge?

Nuzlock, forced balanced teams, etc.

I vaguely remember having an idea two years ago but I've since forgotten what I came up with.

  • Destined partner challenge: only fight using your starter Digimon, but can use any evolution line.
  • Natural Evolutions only: Can only use the "official" evolution paths for a given Digimon e.g. Guilmon -> Growlmon -> Megalogrowlmon -> Dukemon
  • No EXP Grind Cheese: Just don't use Tactician USBs and PlatinumSukamons lmao
 
Quick question, but what happens to a video game that collaborates with other video game studios and uses their characters? Are they for a limited time only? Could you buy them in store?

There isn't a hard set rule for that, it tends to be dependant on the terms the two companies agreed to.
Mostly it does tend to be for a limited time from my experience, but some collab stuff can be permanent.
Not quite sure by what you mean with "could you buy them in store", if you mean an in-game store...maaaybe, if the game in question has a store?
 
Played through Wolfenstein: Cyberpilot. VR game where you pilot various machines to kill Nazis in the usual Wolfenstein style. The reviews aren't wrong about it being short and very tech demo-y, but it's not too bad for what's there. The enemy AI could be a little less dumb, but the mechs would need to be a bit beefier too- only the Zitadelle isn't paper-thin, and it sort of makes sense since you're using their own mechs against them and they might not be immediately sure if you're the enemy.

I got it for free (thanks to StriderAnarchy99) and I don't think I'd have been entirely disappointed if I paid the full $20- might've preferred to catch it for $10 though. They'd have to beef up the combat a lot to make it a modern $60 game though. Enemies are either wafer-thin or bullet sponges, no in-between, and I don't care what kind of armor the human-sized ones are wearing, they shouldn't tank even one round from the rocket launcher without at least getting tossed around.
 
Ooookay, so the post game of Donkey Kong Bananza confirms Smalline is the same Pauline from Odyssey and I guess Kongs just live a really long time. Cranky's still kicking and he's been a shriveled old monke for ages.

Which means she could still be Pauline the 3rd if her mother was also a Pauline and her grandma was implied to be the arcade Pauline. Also, Nintendo apparently confirmed at some point it's been the same Mario every time because he's immortal apparently which means he could be Pauline's grandfather. Her grandma was blonde after all. :V
 
So I got Borderlands 2 VR (for free, thanks again Strider) which seems to be a straight port of the game.

The first area sucks, but not for the reason you're probably thinking if you've played the game in pancake.

Blue. Blue everywhere. I am now not sure if the game has a day/night cycle or everything was turning yellow because I was seeing too much blue.

Because when I took my headset off... everything was still yellow. Apparently, too much blue light can oversaturate your retinas and your eyes decide 'nope, enough of that' and turn your ability to see blue light off.

Only lasted a few minutes, but I was really worried for those few minutes. Gonna have to set an alarm and take more frequent breaks than usual until I get off the damn glacier at least.

EDIT: And I just looked up why Phaselock wasn't working. It's complete nonsense- you aim it with your left hand, but you also have to be aiming your gun at the target as well as looking directly at it. I may have to start over. Probably going to go with Zero.

Thank you for reminding me to get the DLC (it's free) so I can check out the other characters, and I will take that under advisement. Assuming they're in the DLC- I think there's only one missing from the VR version. Allegedly.

EDIT:

So, I uninstalled the game. I could deal with the VR version being a poor port (no grab physics even) but the big problem... time. You aren't supposed to play for more than thirty minutes at a stretch, though I've done up to an hour at times. If they'd just made it so you started after a shutdown at the last respawn checkpoint instead of back in town or at the last Fast Travel point, it would have been doable.

But the Flynt mission took waaaaay too long. I even stopped halfway through the first time, only to have to re-fight almost everything I'd already fought to get back there again, and I would've had to do it again had I stopped at any point. By the time it was over I was sweating pretty good under the faceplate and my legs hurt since there's not much call to use them, and the game isn't half as active as Beat Saber or Pistol Whip.

I might maybe pick up the pancake version to try again later, but the VR version is done.

Does anyone remember the Xbox indie games from the 360 Era? Im trying to find the game called Figment; it was a story of two Imaginary Friends that went to rescue the child who created them.
 
Interesting article about why people invert gaming controllers. Apparently whether or not you do it is correlated to how fast you can mentally rotate a 3d object, even more so than playing flight games/older games with inverted controls.

Kinda hope they don't skip out on the Sex Horror parts, but even if they do, it's a fine-looking spiritual successor.

Fun fact, in the book (which covers the "Japan Incident" you hear about in the game) Eve gets the father's sperm for the Ultimate Being by pinning him to a table and riding him... but once she's got him pinned down, she stops bothering with skin and muscle (it costs more to maintain) and just keeps going as a pile of loose organs.

STILL less gross than the actual kidney transplant at the start of the book.

Also also: in the Hospital level, you can discover the name of Aya's mother. Mariko. Which, I'd say, is confirmation that Aya's mother was the surrogate Eve used in her first attempt, of the same name. She definitely survived, so.

Makes Aya having abilities capable of countering Eve make a lot more sense. Looking at it from one point of view (that Eve wouldn't agree with at all) you might even say she lost because she'd already succeeded in creating the Ultimate Being but it doesn't like her.


Well, back on topic- here's hoping it's as good as its spiritual predecessor. The gameplay should be fun at least.

Watching this and trying to remember other non-Neon cyberpunk immersive sims which take place in a dense, gray scale urban environment.

The only one I could name is Peripeteia but I know there's more out there. EYE Divine Cybermancy I already have it. The one I am trying to remember took place on an urban colony on a planet in another solar system.
 
Picked up CATO and Behemoth from the sale.

CATO is a simple puzzle game in which you play as a cat... with buttered toast strapped to its back. Pretty fun so far, though some of the puzzles are pretty mind-bendy. I'm on world 3, where you have to deal with both Toast and Burnt Toast. Burnt can't act on its own, but the last toast you touched gets possessed by your toast's soul, restoring it to life.

Behemoth is a VR game cribbing off of Shadow of the Colossus. The combat against human enemies is decently solid, but the first Behemoth is... a little glitchy. You really need better movement abilities than what they give you to avoid its attacks, and if you're lucky you survive only one attack. Fortunately it saves after each phase.

Especially when my grapple rope decided to bunch up, detach, and freeze in the air while trying to pull it down. Managed to reattach before it got up, at least. I probably spent three lives on each phase.

It's good so far, though, I've got (allegedly) two more Behemoths to go. I've finally been introduced to the hub level, at least, and the ability to enhance Kragjaeger, which is a pretty good name for a sword.

I also have the Buster-Sword-Sized bullshit weapon from the first mini-boss. Sadly there doesn't seem to be an armory in the game where you can keep it if you ever drop it. Though you can go back, maybe the boss respawns?
 
Ok so the new Digimon game is solid. Very fun great line-up of Digimon and so many references.

I just saw Renaman, Impmon, Lopmon, Terriermon and Guardromon hanging out. Guilmon was hiding underground in a previous area.

Just... this whole game just makes me smile.

Also the game makes it quite clear what happens when Mega-level Digimon fight at full power in the middle of a city.
