  • Due to issues with external spam filters, QQ is currently unable to send any mail to Microsoft E-mail addresses. This includes any account at live.com, hotmail.com or msn.com. Signing up to the forum with one of these addresses will result in your verification E-mail never arriving. For best results, please use a different E-mail provider for your QQ address.
  • For prospective new members, a word of warning: don't use common names like Dennis, Simon, or Kenny if you decide to create an account. Spammers have used them all before you and gotten those names flagged in the anti-spam databases. Your account registration will be rejected because of it.
  • Since it has happened MULTIPLE times now, I want to be very clear about this. You do not get to abandon an account and create a new one. You do not get to pass an account to someone else and create a new one. If you do so anyway, you will be banned for creating sockpuppets.
  • Due to the actions of particularly persistent spammers and trolls, we will be banning disposable email addresses from today onward.

For example, can a moderator threadlock be appealed even if no infraction was involved? The rules only specify how to appeal infractions, temp bans, and permanent bans, but they say that "moderator action" can be appealed, so I'm not sure where a threadlock falls in that category.

Is this about the internet censorship thread?

Because that really seemed more like hysterical doomposting than an articulate argument about a possibly real and present danger.

i couldn't exactly make an articulate argument without violating the no-politics rule.

I will say that the appeals forum is mostly there so you can make your case, and as such, is much more in line with what we use for PMs (be civil, don't do illegal stuff), so at a high level we wouldn't smack you for appealing using Rule 8 content as part of your argument. Nuance of course is there, but as long as you are civil, you should be fine.

Appealing a threadlock is, huh...

Last I saw, those that get locked are either problematic enough they needed it or keep being necroed. If you truly want to ask us to reopen one such thread, I do hope you understand your argument will need to be really good for us to consider it.
