There are two ways to prevent the conversion of
"[x]" into "", or rather:
The first way:
Consider the string "[b][/b]".
The BBCode interpreter will convert it into the string "".
But the text you post is interpreted only once. This provides the obvious hack:
e.g. "[[b][/b]x]", or "[x[i][/i]]" will be printed as "[x]".
The second way:
Simply select "Don't use smileys." under "Attachments and other options" underneath the text-editing field.
This will however (rather obviously) also prevent you from using smileys in the common way in that post. So instead of "8)", you will get "8)".
