You don't want to know how many times this got eaten.

______________________________________________________________

You are a Youma.

An elite foot soldier of the glorious Dark Empire, handcrafted by the Empress herself using dark and twisted magicks.

You anihilated the enemies of her majesty and crushed all those who would dare stand against her with your vast powers.

You were a proud being, and looked forward to conquering the world on her behalf.

This was last month.

Before the miniskirt brigade charged in with enough Holy magic to make the devil be blessed walls melt and excorcised the Empress.

Since then, you've had some very unpleasant revelations. The Dark Empire? Actually fell a few millenia ago. It was also on a different planet. The Empress? Actually an insane Shade possessing a particularily luckless human. Bizarrely enough, that human was a friend of the miniskirt brigade's leader. Even you aren't what you thought yourself to be.

You are nothing more than canned fodder. A weak, disposable underling meant to serve as a worshipful peon to whomever opened your bottle.

However, that being was wiped out in a particularily bright wave of Holy energy. And somehow, you managed to walk out of that heavenly cross-fire alive.

You were never really meant to 'function' without a master. The magic holding you together got a little buggy for awhile, although it's mostly stabilized by now. It was during this period of flux that all these strange ideas and thoughts came into your head. Things like 'Why did I believe everything I was told?', 'Why on earth did I ever listen to that bitch?', and most predominantly, the idea that sacrificing your life for someone who treated you like shit and had you bowing and scraping for tiniest morsel of life energy in a desperate bid for vengeance against a foe with enough power to wipe the floor with you in one finger was kinda stupid.

Actually, it sounds really stupid now.

But all that's in the past.

You've managed to do fine for awhile, but your internal reservoir of life energy is starting to get awfully close to empty. And you've seen several other leftover youma desperately attack people get turned into ash for their trouble. While you now grasp the concept of subtlety, and figured out that a quiet passive drain at a distance can net you just enough energy to live off of, the fact that the miniskirt brigade is trying to actively root out all the other remnants of the Dim Empire doesn't exactly make you feel safe in this area.

So, you've decided to pack your bags and get the hell out of dodge while you still can. Not that you have bags, or any physical possessions at all, but still.

Greener pastures and all that.

All that's left is to decide how you're going to leave town. Whatever you do after that... you'll worry about when you get away from the people with super power

[ ] Airplane. A little risky, but gets you the furthest away from this place in the fastest way possible.
[ ] Train. Easy as pie, and you can ride for hundreds of miles. It's not all that quick though.
[ ] Bus. Kinda tricky, and not the greatest muncher of space either. Speed's decent at least.

_____________________________________________________

Also, what kind of Youma are you?

[ ] Infiltrator Type. You can alter your appearance in any way you can imagine, read people's surface thoughts and even use hypnosis. The most human appearing type.

[ ] Power Type. With your incredible strength, you can open quite a few doors. The immunity to most mundane weapons is nice too. The least human looking type.

[ ] Mage Type. You can create all sorts of interesting enchantments, any you can think of really. So long as you have enough life energy to power them, anyway. While not obviously inhuman, you do draw attention undisguised.

Character sheet will go here.

The Mage

Life Energy Pool
50/???????

Abilities

Item Creation (Rank 1)
The creation of items through magic. At this rank, you can create small, simple items by expending Life Energy.

Enchantment (Rank 1)
The imbuing of items with supernatural effects. At this rank, you can imbue an item with a single effect by expending Life Energy. More potent effects will require more Life Energy.

Life Drain (Rank 2)
The extraction of Life Energy from a intelligent living being. At this rank, you can drain Life Energy from a short distance. You can also minimize the amount being drawn out to a level that is almost impossible to notice. You can drain up to three targets at once.

Traits

Your Own Master: The demise of your former master has freed your mind from it's shackles. You now have free will.
Emaciated: Your pool of Life Energy is so far gone, it's begun to affect your appearance. You appear aged and malnourished.
Slightly Inhuman: You are not human. If an observant person takes a look at you, they may realize this.
A Being Of Energy: Your body is mostly comprised of magic. Rather than eating food, you consume Life Energy. (5 Energy per day)

So long as we can escape to a different setting a power type youma could be a very interesting choice. The Senshi are going to be staying in Japan, so hopefully we can find some other magical community and set ourselves up as a bruiser there, rather than being forced to hide from everyone as an infiltrator.

Whatever gave you the idea that you were fighting the Sailor Senshi?

Or even in Japan for that matter?

We all know we're going to want to do ridiculous things that could only be explained by magic.

Actually, now that I think about it, the train seems like a safe bet.

Changing my travel vote to train.

The train will get you nicely far away while also not requiring the documentation which the plane would. And the versatility of the mage type could be so very useful.

I hope it IS that train. Because a Gensokyo quest from the perspective of an outsider might be what I need to 'Get' the series.

I have no complaints if it is said train :p.

So we're discussing the kind of train we're taking now?

[X] The midnight train going anywhere.
[X] Infiltrator.

If you are interested in quests set in Gensokyo, touhou-project.com/ is full of them. I've been enjoying the Animating Gensokyo quest in the general board, and the Chronograph on in the shrine board. Both of those involve an outsider protagonist with some magic abilities (necromancer and chronomancer, respectively) ending up in Gensokyo.

[X] Train
[X] Mage

Calling it for train and mage.

Its all about the concepts, Tea, and the hats.

Can never forget the hats.

Also, we rolled fairly well.

Well! This looks neat!

Can't wait to see where we're going to end up!

Also, Mage Youma trapped in a bottle. We were a Genie, weren't we?

You contemplate how to best go about getting on the train.

Obviously, you need a method that utilizes both discretion and subtlety. Fortunately, there's a way to get on board, without arousing the suspicion of anyone at all.

"Thanks again for riding Trans-Pacific Rails. Have a pleasant trip!"

You purchase a ticket.

It's easy enough to magic up a passport. But the tickets have thin black strips that you can't read, but the machines can. So, you used a little magic to make a gold ring, sold it to a pawnshop, and used the proceeds to pay for a way out. It's knocked your supply of energy down even lower than before, but you're not quite in the danger zone yet.

Although you're a lot closer to it then you like to think about.

There's a moment of tension as you walk through a metal detector and the security officer asks you to remove your coat, hood, and mask. Rather than risk upsetting him, or just abandoning the fruits of the energy expenditure that left you hungry enough to eat an entire spirit, flesh and all, you take off your garments.

First comes the hood, revealing amber eyes, pale skin, and turquoise hair. The ends of your ears are covered by them, so he can't see the points. You pull down the mask next, and the guard winces slightly. While you are physically fine with the very small amount of energy you have left, your appearance has suffered for it. You skin hangs wrinkled and loose, adding more than a few decades to your age.

The jacket comes off next, and goes for a ride in the x-ray machine before the guard waves you through the check point. He thanks you for complying with his request, before calling the next person through.

You bundle back up immediately.

It draws a little attention on the platform, but nobody pays more than a raised eyebrow before moving on with their own business.

Right before boarding you almost have a heart-attack (or whatever passes for it when you're a being mostly made out of energy) when a member of the miniskirt brigade passes by. But she just walks straight past you, arms filled with heavy looking boxes and humming cheerfully as she goes by. She didn't even notice you.

You suppose that even they must do something to pay for the expenses of everyday living, when they're not hunting youma anyway.

You end up arriving at your assigned compartment without incident, and open the door.

[ ] There's a human couple. Having… Relations here.
-How does this make you feel? (Write in)

[ ] There's a girl sitting on one of the benches. She looks perfectly human. She smells perfectly human. But there's something about the tiny pyramids hanging from her hair, and the grinning hairpin that make you feel very, very small.

[ ] This compartment seems empty.
