I see a lot of talk about the Konoha upper level conspiracy theory, it's usually either brainlessly repeating someone else's thoughts or some basic understanding of politics, but if we were to apply real world politics and how they function to this setting, then at the very least, Hiruzen's wife Biwako ought to be from the Senju Clan, especially since she is also a medic, but if so, how could he wipe out the Senju?

It would mean that Hiruzen wasn't supported by Mito/Senju clan to the throne, which might be possible, since all of this would have to happen after WW1, you know, at that time clans might have ideas about gaining more power/authority

but if that's the case, then Hiruzen couldn't have been able to hold the throne so benignly
