Sale of TIE variants had increased a surprising amount, to the point that I was almost considering expanding operations. Almost being the key word here. With the whole Rothana business coming up, it would cause undue strain.

The issue of not having enough capital to spread around. The bane of most Outer Rim systems.

Grant was found. She was just sorta vibing in the Mindan training center. And by vibing, I mean absolutely demolishing the training droids we've got set up over there. Some old, highly advanced Commando droids from that first Seppie wreck we found. Can't use em as soldiers, optics are bad, but as training material?

Grant just has that RPG party member juice. Just casually being stronger than any human has a right to be. Commando droids were used to kill the Nightsisters on Dathomir.

Honestly, it was only their armor that ensured they weren't scrapped completely. Never knew human hands could dent fucking cortosis plating. Yeah, the super-rare near blaster proof cortosis.

Melee is the way to get around cortosis. Most Jedi just get disoriented when their magic sword stops working and most troopers the same when their blaster doesn't do squat. Grant still is denting metal with her bare hands.

Probably the first time someone has called her by her first name since Alderaan blew up. Everyone else on this planet is too justifiably scared of her to do that.

It's at this point that she realizes that she's just had a major panic attack in front of her superior officer, which is probably the worst place to have one in the Empire.

Grant was verbally cornered by her superior after her homeworld blew up. Grant probably also has gotten word that the Empire has already started being "disappointed" by its other Alderaanian soldiers. So entirely understandable Grant would think she's next.

Before she leaves, she realizes she's still holding one of my mugs. My custom made, sleek as hell, practically thermos level mugs made of a deep black stone with flecks of purple within. The real nice ones. Cost me like 30 grand for a dozen, but it was so worth it.

Given the fact that the Empire is kinda a military dictatorship in all but name it is probably expected for Military Governors to have extra means of making money. Like confiscation of assets of suspected rebels. Chances are given his tales of escape ships and secret escape tunnels he probably just allocates a small portion of his salary for "luxuries".

To be honest you could probably argue that he is more fiscally responsible than a lot of the Democratically-elected Senators.

The stormtrooper grasped at his helmet as Neca pinned him with her boot. If the hole in his visor and face dug by her climbing pick didn't do him in, then the biochemical agents in the world's atmosphere will finish the job. Good, let the dog choke on his master's failure.

"Alpha squad report."

Phase I Clone Armor emerged from the shadows carrying the helmets from the rest of the Enemy patrol. The sickly liquids still bubbling on the aged suits from the Death Typhoon raging outside. However you would be hard pressed to tell their origin at a glance.

Once pristine white plastoid had taken on the greenish brown only obtained from decades of mud and poison. What plates were no longer usable were exchanged for makeshift plates made from diehard shells. Their blaster resistant nature working for their hunters instead of against them.

The sleek helmets had been jury rigged with heavy rebreathers harvested from the Enemy. Care taken with the modification not to allow any outside air to seep in.

Anything to maintain the body glove's atmospheric protection. What had once been an uncomfortable fit had turned into a second skin for them. Their coffins against the toxic atmosphere of their homeworld.

"What should we do with the corpses ma'am?"

The glare from Private Grum was the newest addition to her squad's kit. Some new computer you could wear on your arm. A gift from their "mutual friends". Shame the luminescence made us have to keep it covered most of the time.

The brightness was annoying and potentially lethal, but Grum's comlink gave out a month ago and they hadn't been able to get back to headquarters to fix it. So this "PDA's" text to speech function it was.

"Standard procedure. Harvest the filters and dump the bodies in a nearby crater. Bugs and sludge will take care of the rest."

This was the closest patrol they had hit from the target. We wanted the enemy off our world and our "mutual friends" wanted these camps shut down. As long as they kept sending supplies she couldn't care less what their game was.

"Right, we keep reconning this area to keep it clear of the enemy. If no call has gone out Beta Squad has a few hours to get Dome Popper in position."

The old AT-AP might not have its legs anymore, but the cannon had been lovingly cared for. The main weapon of the Children of Atraken against the Enemy's repeated attempts to take the world from them since the Disaster.

"Listen up! The Enemy has set up a mining camp just to the south. They invaded our home, poisoned our world, and now dump the dregs of their society on it to steal the resources from us, its rightful owners. Are you going to allow that?"

"NO MA'AM!"

"Right! When Dome Popper gets here, we'll send hypersonic shells into their habitation units, their starport, and their mine entrance. Let the toxin the Enemy brought to our house cleanse them from this world, dregs and all! Death to the Republic!"

Consdering how badly run both the new republic and imperial remnant was run if he does end up in charge he might just end up slowly gulping up star systems as the new republic goes from one crisis after another. Grandad half those crisis were caused by former imperials but a key point the actual imperial remnant didn't so much it was the imperial warlords most of the time.

Actually it would funny as hell if he ends up emperor meanwhile his personal escape ship goes from a small starship to a small cruisers to a custom Star destroyer meanwhile he thinks any day now he will have to run. And only end up using it after he retires.

True, that said canon had them constantly being used by dark siders with little Trouble and they didn't get much screen time in book or comic. Till they got taken over by some discount Sith Lord before Disney bought Star Wars.

Legends got a bit, ok a lot ridiculous towards the end even discount the satan/mom/horror thing locked in a black hole lol.

But a lot can be easy about the republic the fact they aren't actually republic being the key one but mostly it was the rebellion was fought by people who wanted a democratic state but didn't actually get one.

What is even Oder is this was reflected in the mandlorian tv show with the ex republic trooper being disillusioned with how things went after the rebels won.

And that's one of my favorite parts of Star Wars how the politics is actually pretty interesting. But to sum it up the core worlds are not your friends and we're perfectly willing to rape the rim and mid rim before the clone wars and after the empire came to be.

Only problem was when tarkin blew up one of said core worlds the empire kicked a very deep ant pile, and losing the Death Star right afterwards. Well suddenly there were a great many worlds who realized business as usually would in fact come to a end if the emperor got his way.

And suddenly the rebel alliance has the credits for ships and other assets along a great many other things. Prier to first Death Star the empire could commit all the crimes against humanity it wanted as long as it wasn't a core world being the victim only reason it didn't happen so much in the old republic was the Jedi.

The Empire COULD have worked.

If Palpatine didn't handpick the single worst, but loyal people he could possibly find, actively encourage all of their neuroses, infighting, and corruption, and then make sure the entire think would go up like a swimming pool of gasoline and Styrofoam if he ever left power.

Competent leadership can make up for many, many sins. And the biggest problem with authoritarian governments is that there are so few mechanisms for ousting bad leadership.

At this rate, once every die hard imperial all congregates in his system to make it their base of operations in the fight against the new republic, I can see him going crazy and just declare himself emperor. He is supposed to be enjoying his retirement incognito in some beach planet not fighting a galactic war to restore the empire.

Being a imperial remmant means calling the attention of other imperial remmants and eventually the first order

Currently the MC uses imperial power structure out of pragmatism,but at some point other imperial governors will try fuck him over for no other reason that him being sucesfull is a threath to them

Add stuff like palpatine "destroy the galaxy after im gone" deadhand protocols,the empire will eventually come for him too

There is only so much he can do if everyone around him insists on being a psychopath obsessed with making baby crusher factories

So some form of re-naming itself as a new neutral nation is needed (to avoid getting dragged by the republic or the empire)

Until it does become a concern, the Imperial forces that were charged with Operation Cinder could easily become The First Order if they end up merging to a sufficient degree, I don't think any other groups have enough qualified fanatics in dense concentrations to unify to the same extent in such a short timeframe.

Operation Cinder existing ITTL is debatable depending on how much of canon vs legends OP uses.

OP is using some fusion of both timelines since his Inquisitors are more like Disney and Thrawn was publicly known to be a Grand Admiral before disappearing into the Unknown Regions at the end of the Lothal business instead of to Peridea and thus setting up his Legends return rather than the Disney Ahsoka storyline.
