On a Pale Horse (Umamusume/Youjo Senki)

Sunset Groom: "I'M GONNA DDDIIIIIEEEEE!!!!" *runs for dear life*
The fear and the hotter than usual temperature meant she basically had a heat stroke by the time she reached the finish line.

"Why the fuck is a Polish War Uma racing in Japan?"
"Where did they find this Polish Samurai?! All the Polish stubbornness and vitriol combined with Japanese precision and disregard for their own life."

Does it really count as being a suicide runner if shes just got that much stamina that she can keep it up all race?
Shirogane is basically the dedicated team pocket stamina debuffer so the other Aces on the team can capitalize
The bad luck horse, the pale horse, the death horse.
"What do you call a suicide runner that doesn't die?"
"A Homicide runner."

Lmao, she really is Polish, isnt she?
Snrk, your inner Kurwa Bobir is leaking, Shirogane.
She picked up more than just her looks from her mother, lol. The hatred of communists was there before though.

Did she did not know the Gold clan?
Even as someone as disinterested in racing, surely would know?
To be fair to her, at this point the Gold Clan isn't as well established in reputation, so while they're an up-and-comer a more casual follower wouldn't have really heard too much about them. Not to mention that unlike the Mejiro umas, the Gold Clan umas don't really fit the usual behavioral expectations. It's a bit hard to get the conclusion that the uma who looks like they could be homeless is actually from a rich family.

The AOE debuff she emanates also is funny although I hope it won't be overused. It seems the type of thing that only racers both inexperienced and unfamiliar with her would be affected by
Wonder if they'll recommend her to amp up the dark villian energy as infamy is very marketable, probably not though since I wouldn't assume most of those on her team would think about infamous marketability and probably feel bad about her villian moniker.
While not all of her classmates would suggest she hype up her villain behavior, El Condor Pasa might.

There's also the funny part where, since the Golden Generation is more used to Shirogane and thus aren't going to be so unnerved by her, whenever they run in the same race Shirogane making the other runners nervous means it's more likely for the other Golden Generation runners to win. Hey, maybe Tsuyoshi can get one if Shirogane scares the competition off.

That was indeed cool but who is this person? Rudolf doesnt have that level of English.
Well, it was inevitable that someone would say it at some point...but really, Rudolf? You?
This was the subtitles.

Also In my head she has her Tanya/Agnes Tachyon smile as she is racing chasing down the other racers and off the track she has her monotone face and she doesn't realize it so she is unintentionally scaring the other racers into thinking a crazed War Uma is chasing them down
In this case she was completely blank faced. She'll need some blood in her eyes before she frenzies enough to pull out the slasher smile.

Shiro vs Twin Turbo, a race for the ages.
I think Twin Turbo might have a heart attack mid-race.

Now I wanna see how people react when Shirogane stops blinking.
Shirogane and Manhattan Cafe in a dark classroom at night. Who wins the staring contest?

Heh! SteGo is both curious and concerned about the quiet kohai.

You know what? I ship it.
I mean, if Shirogane was a real life mare, it would probably get considered.

"Alright, so we have this unruly and bad tempered pony who's very fast, and this bombproof and easy to train slightly larger pony who's pretty slow but has great stamina, combining them will probably get a good result. Hopefully a small horse who's fast and has good stamina while also being easy to train."
"Err...I don't think breeding the delinquent pony with the mare who can read is a great idea."
"Nonsense, what could go wrong?"

A couple years later

"Did that horse just plot and execute a murder?!"

El Condor Pasa ran in the Dirt and Medium tryouts, but she was in a different heat for the medium since that was the most popular distance.

She probably freaked out anyone chasing her because she ran like Robert Patrick as the T1000.

The running with ears back and red eyes kind of fits. Shirogane also has a sabre she'd wear during G1 races.

Are horses mythological creatures in umamusume?
Maybe? They don't seem to have a concept of the animal, but 'Umamusume' just means 'horse girl', so in English it stands to reason that 'horse' is just a shorthand for 'horsegirl'.

"What do you call a suicide runner that doesn't die?"

Obligatory.....

I think from what we know Umas are either born the normal way or just literally are a blessing from the Goddesses sometimes, so Uma x Uma pairings are probably a regular thing? I mean, I kinda have to assume the Goddesses were involved with Shirogane being born, so obviously they do some overt work when they want to.

idk, the kids literally just being given out by the goddesses was one of the much earlier things I came across in regards to the fandom too tbh, so I'm not sure where I'd go dig it up from. Course then you get into the mess of the kids not being matched to their parents despite the deja vu feelings because of the differences in growth rate between Horses and Umas.

Funnily, Stay Gold is one of the very few who'd be aware of that too.

While not all of her classmates would suggest she hype up her villain behavior, El Condor Pasa might
A US born horse that races in Japan in a racewear based of a Luchador from Mexico with a Peruvian name, El Condor Pasa is probably one of the most marktable horse of all time naturally, she also takes seriously her luchador persona so unexpectably El Condor Pasa might be someone good to talk about how your image relates to the public.
In this case she was completely blank faced. She'll need some blood in her eyes before she frenzies enough to pull out the slasher smile.
No Tanya/Tachyon no magic/drugs for you in the race.

Imagine a usually expressionless person (that is always eerily still) chasing you from behind, with Blood Red eyes, and a wide slasher smile that screams She Lusts for your Blood.

For the poor Umas, it would be like Death itself was chasing them, especially if there is a heavy dose of killing intent involved. Horses are easily spooked, now they are literally running for their lives. It's not a race to finish line anymore, it's fleeing their end.

Now that I think about it, wouldn't Shiro-chan be very popular with bookies due to her scrambling the results? Same with those running the races, even if she's just gate filler for higher races, her tendency to force mistakes would shake up the monotony of races that might otherwise be too predictable.

Twin Turbo racing against Shirogane (#4 is Shirogane)

The aftermath:

>Uma: "Is she... dead?"
>Shirogane: "I believe this is called Hypoxic euphoria."
>Uma: "Umm?"
>Turbo: "Whheeehehe~ Sheeerooooo-chaaan"
>Shirogane: "It's more commonly known as autoerotic asphyxiation, please pace yourself next time Turbo, indulging in this sort of thing can cause brain damage."
>Turbo: "heeehee~ I suuurvived!"
>Uma: "How does she know this?"
>Shirogane: *corporate HR flashbacks*

Basically opposites:
>Shirogane: Cause of fear, endless endurance, low top speed, lack of passion.
>A Slasher villain of a horse.

>Twin Turbo: An engine that turns fear into speed, Endurance so low she runs off of Guts, Absurd speed, incredible passion.
>"I don't "strategize". I don't "set the pace". I don't "conserve my energy". I RUN FULL SPEED. And if my stamina doesn't hold out until the end, then I DON'T WIN."

She looked up to see a small dark haired uma dressed in a way where they could rather convincingly pass as a homeless bum.

Stay Gold doesn't make it easy on herself with that sorta first impression, but hey, at least Stego's silver collection might catch some interest from Shirogane. An experienced second place finisher is nothing to scoff at.

Shiro vs Twin Turbo, a race for the ages.

I can picture Twin running for her life with tears in her eyes until she loses all her stam and falls over.

But the idea brought another umamusume to mind, Silence Suzuka. I'm getting a bit of goosebumps just thinking about Shirogane bolting straight after Suzuka from the gate, the Pacer that ghosts the Great-Fronter.

Honestly, we saw a bit of them running together last time, and with the teams being introduced a bit more, I'm fairly certain Suzuka is Shirogane's best training partner.

Shirogane and Manhattan Cafe in a dark classroom at night. Who wins the staring contest?

The contest would last for a grand total of 5 seconds before Manhattan Cafe offers some coffee, and they both take a sip! She did seem to be quite a welcoming host in the movie, who, unfortunately, scares people away with her talking to an invisible friend.

While Shirogane might not be scared like the others, I do wonder what sort of interaction it'd bring about, perhaps the usual, where Shirogane makes a note that Cafe might have undiagnosed schizophrenia? However, with the friend having actual physical phenomena attached to varying degrees, perhaps Shirogane might be more accepting of it than most.

Well, there's always a chance they might meet if Tanya ever avails the school's running facilities late at night. Tough to say if that's good odds cause while Shirogane does have the stamina to push her training late, it wouldn't match her usual style of time management. Then again, with this team, it might happen if Suzuka and Shirogane get carried away racing each other.

Haha, even worse. It's right behind you, so close it doesn't have to make an effort to touch you. It's not hunting you, it's playing with its food.

Turbo is ruined for marriage, you have to take responsibility Shirogane.

"Behold, a pale horse," Rudolf murmured, speaking in English, "and the name given to her was Death, and Hell followed with her."
I'd like to note that horses, and the word horse, do not exist in the Umamusume setting. They are Uma, even in English. It's even to the point that in the game "horse" is banned by the word filter.

Are you polish, Waffles?
Dunno, but it certainly seems Shirogano has inherited more from her polish mother than just the warhonse genes.

With I'm honestly quite a fan of, as it reinforces the fact that Shirogano isn't Tanya but umafied nor Tanya 2.0.

She's the inheritor of both Soldier and Manager, descendant of Polish Winged Hussars and will always carry the scars of the Rhine, but most importantly she is Suzuki "Orzeł" Shirogano, beloved daughter of two loving parents with grandparents that dote on her.

I think Shirogane just gained her own Majima.

When the title of the story itself contradicts that bit of lore, I think it's safe to say that it doesn't apply here.

In the last chapter, Shirogane noted before she started when her second race was scheduled, which implies that the lineup for each heat was already set. But the commentary in this chapter suggests that all the racers in this heat are here because they lost a previous race. Were they just coincidentally all runners who had lost a previous race? Did the schedule have "if win, go to X, if lose, go to Y," instructions, and Shirogane just naturally assumed she'd lose?
