I think it would be interesting if Grass beats Shiro in the race and feels triumphant about overcoming her rival...only to see that Shiro is genuinely content and in fact pleased with placing second. Something like that would unsettle Grass, chipping away at her vision of a rivalry with Shiro when Shiro doesn't seem to even care.

There was something to be said about loving what you do but Silence Suzuka might be taking it a bit far.

This really reflects the difference between Shiro and the other umas. For Shiro, running is something she naturally enjoys, but it's more of the instinctive thrill of movement rather than focused on racing alone, so she'd be perfectly find channeling her thirst for movement into another outlet like swimming or flying. For other umas, racing itself is what drives their hearts, and they wouldn't accept doing something else as a substitute.

I wonder how the family restaurant will continue to grow with all the victory money Shiro sends them.

Already after just two races, the restaurant gets a new air conditioning system and a TV. What happens after a hundred races? Will the restaurant turn into a multi-story monstrosity of an uma sports bar with dozens of big screen TVs and uma waitresses in skimpy Polish hussar uniforms?

It's almost like a bragging rights sidequest for an gacha game.

Yep, I figured since some of Dober's notes mention her dad is sad she doesn't let him call her 'Beru-chan' anymore, it makes sense for that to be a nickname from her grandfather.

There is unfortunately a space limitation to the restaurant, but yeah if this was an anime every time there's a scene in the restaurant there'd be some new thing that got added. They probably have Shirogane's trophies on a shelf somewhere.

Tbh Ramonu problem wasnt that she said something fucked to improve her racing but the fact that she just told Dober to do it rather than teach her how. Running for someone else is not uncommon and it does give you strenght beyond what you usually have. Orfevre won 8 lenghts in a race for a kid with cancer when he died before the race, Tamamo Cross won her race against Oguri Cap when the old man she used to "train" as a kid was dying by a disease. Ramonu coaching sucked because she wasnt able to reach Dober's heart and her feelings with her grandfather.

The first two legs of each circuit were within one week of the corresponding leg in the other circuit, with the Shuka Sho and Kikuka Sho being two weeks apart, which was still quite close together. To qualify for each leg, her unimpressionable yet somehow still overly ambitious trainee would have to place or show in one of their qualifier races, and if she did not manage to do so in the circuit races, she would have to do so in another qualifier. The first two legs were not far enough apart for that to be feasible.

Because it looks like her record in the previous chapter would be something like 2-1-1-0. One win at her debut race and one 2nd place at the first of these six races.

Now with her record being 8-2-6-0 it looks like she has done all those she wanted. Because there are seven more from 2-1-1-0 I think that two of these were what Shiro needed to qualify to take those Sixtuple Crown. One she got silver for. The other was either gold or silver again. Then all these other races she got silver.

It really is shaping up to be a Silver Eagle nickname she will get.

LOL yeah I was think about that when the armor on her uniform was described. She'd probably adapt to a rougher racing style just a little too well!

It does make me consider how well Grass Wonder would do if she goes to Europe in El Condor Pasa's place along with Shirogane - which is something Toujou is probably at least considering. Given the talk on temperament, even though El Condor Pasa is good at roughhousing it's possible Grass might be better mentally suited to adapt to European turf and tactics.

A lot of Umamusume fans don't think of Grass Wonder as being as dominant as El Condor Pasa because she's not as flamboyant in-game, but the racehorse's actual history is pretty damn impressive having set a record in the Asahi Hai, winning the Takurazaka Kinen, and winning two Arima Kaien - all in the Golden Generation. And that's with an injury in his second year setting him back!

The people making regalia for order (eg beauty anshinzawa) are almost certainly thoughtful about what they're doing, and or more than meets the eye (a common theme in this world). Not all umas who chose their racewear are thoughtful, but they all converge on that feeling of 'rightness', that when they wear their signature racewear everything seems to just fall into place, and they're ready to go above and beyond.
