XF2 transition feedback

Actually, on that topic, adding buttons for Abbreviation and Ruby would be nice too.
Those can go in Insert or Advanced BBcodes dropdown list though, because I don't imagine they'd get common use.
Abbreviation is in the 'advanced' dropdown menu. Nothing for Rubytext, though.

Ruby also doesn't get carried over properly in a quote. Both bits of text are included, without the markup to keep them separate. (I had to edit the above quote to get rid of the extra.) Abbreviation also loses its BBCode, but it at least keeps the base text in place without issue.

I keep getting alerts from people's replys to the threads like to an absurd degree and can't figure out how to make it only alert me when the OP replies

Check. Yo'. Preferences.

Generate new alerts without reading threads
If enabled, clearing all "new post" alerts for a thread will allow new ones to generate, even if you haven't viewed the thread since your previous alert(s).

If disabled, new alerts will only be generated after you visit a thread.

Hey Mods, would it at all be possible to increase the contrast between the Alerts marked as seen and the Alerts marked as unread? It's kind of difficult for me to tell what I need to look at when I open my alert tab thingy.

In the same vein, would it at all be possible for me to change the alerts so that it doesn't mark any of them auto-seen? It disorients me every time I open the alerts just to see the number spike downward before I get a chance to understand anything.
Either set Alert Pop-up Options to "Never mark alerts as read", or "Use per-alert configuration". If you use the latter, you can select which alerts get auto-read, and which ones stick around until you click on them. For example, I have reactions set to auto-read, but story posts stick around until I go read them.

As for the contrast, a lot of people have asked for that. I've fixed it in my userstyle, but it would be nice to have in the base theme itself. It's easy enough to do since they are marked with an .is-read or .is-unread class, and the Default theme already colors the backgrounds differently. Just have to update the other themes to do the same.

It's a minor bug. But the cookie for the front page to close a section keeps resetting open. The down arrow at the top of each section header. With it closed it only takes a single button to reach my usual haunt. Open it takes two. Like I said, minor.

*tests*
Using the +Quote/Reply buttons at the bottom of the post, preserves both Abbreviation and Rubytext.
Selecting the text & +Quoting that, strips both as described.
Selecting the text & copy-pasting it, strips the Rubytext, but preserves the Abbreviation.

AKA, this looks like standard behaviour, at least for the somewhat idiosyncratic behaviour of XF2 and XF1 re. known issue of some bbcodes being stripped in transfer.

Also, more *tests*
LaTeX:
\[I thought to take another look at the LaTeX and Rubytext bugs as noted by Rykeun, see if they were fixed. In this case, wordwrap for LaTeX...\]
EDIT: Oh, that's weird. We have wordwrap, kinda - but it's still wonky, in that it still relies on a useful wrap-point and the default wrap-point is still capable of hanging out past the post-box. Oh, and now the spacing's eaten too. Note that this doesn't show up in Preview, only once posted/edited.

Is there clean paste in the new update? I noticed when posting a chapter that I had to go through and delete spaces between lines and I don't think I changed anything on my end.

I had the same problem when I posted a oneshot. Everything ended up triple-spaced (already mentioned in a prior post) and I know nothing changed on my end because it was from the same notes program that I've been using from the start. Also it's actually accepting the formatting like bold and italics directly from the document which it wasn't prior to the update. Which is nice because formatting code is annoying to type in. I usually end up missing a / somewhere and it borks everything.

Is there any way to stop me from getting alerts to threads that already have unread messages? I'm getting spammed to hell and back with alerts that used to not alert me if I had unread messages on that thread, unless it was an OP post above a threshold or I was quoted.

EDIT: Never mind found it.

IS THERE A WAY TO PREVENT TWITTER AND REDDIT LINKS FROM BEING POSTED AS WHOLE IMAGES OR SOMETHING?

I JUST WANT TO POST SOURCE LINKS! NOT THE WHOLE THING!

IT'S GETTING ANNOYING!

👎
agreed.

I much prefer those links to stay as links, not media. Same with imgur, imgchest, etc.

Only youtube should be media automatically.

Side note, can we get the old Ignore mechanism?

I still see an ignored poster's posts when they're quoted by someone.

Please make them fully invisible unless you click the show ignored posts at the bottom!

The color thread mark title is very very light. Might want to change it to be a t little more visible.

Why am I getting notifications for every single post in a thread?
I used to only get notifications for threadmarks and new posts if I had read all of the posts.
It's not a huge problem, but it means it's annoying when I keep getting notifications for stories I'm not currently reading, and topics I already have a tab opened for while I catch up.

Might just unwatch them all at this point.

Go to notification settings and disable Generate new alerts without reading threads

As Bear Mint said, there's the "Generate new alerts without reading threads" that is for some reason on be default *narrows eyes at that checkbox*.
There are also a ton of other alert settings that you may want to check into as well that allow you to be a bit more particular about what sorts of things give you alerts, and it's honestly a decently comprehensive list.

Is there a way to set a particular font size permanently? Every time I log in, I have to change the font size from the default to my preferred size

Alright, here's an annoying one that I haven't seen mentioned yet.

Spoilering the images is a total pain right now, because the spoiler button is located in a dropdown list that tends to fall into the same area as the images are located, so you can't select an image (or more) and spoiler it that way. Yet at the same time, if you put the spoiler down first, the images post below it even if you had it set so that they should go right into the code. You literally might as well just manually type in the [spoiler][/spoiler] every time and save yourself the hassle of trying to use the shortcuts at the moment.

Is the little pop-up "you have new alerts" in the bottom left corner for when there are new alerts while you're browsing gone or am I dumb?

If I disabled the alerts 'Replies to a watched thread', will I still receive notifications of the OP?

I was trying rich text disabled mode because I prefer direct bb code to the xenforo wysiwyg, but it's been stopping me from inputing simple line breaks with the enter key. As in, it shows in the edit box but filters them out when I go to post. Is this intended?
