It really does feel like I'm exploring an alien culture. At times it feels normal and recognizable then other times the most depraved shit is treated like the most normal thing in the world. Its really cool how normalized something like incest is for the characters in the story, to the point were they don't even raise an eyebrow when they see it.

As for what I'm currently reading, I've recently bought another Volume of Berserk which is dark fantasy Manga by Kentaro Miura, and I'm also reading The Black Phone by Joe hill which is an anthology of short horror stories.

Currently in the Black Phone, I'm reading a story about a kid that was abducted by a serial killer and is currently stuck in a basement with a broken phone that will occasionally call him and from the other line all of the killer's previous victims will talk to the main character and try to help him escape.

For me, its not just normalization. To me that would be boring, so I always talk to Jackal about including emotional and romantic elements and blending them with purposeful degradation. Active dramatic interest is key, it should be engaging to the character's feelings and not unremarkable even if it is accepted and pushed

I'm sick today actually, had to stay home from school. Which kind of sucks since I have a test tomorrow that I'm studying for right now.

The test is the final for this class I'm in right now. I'm going to a technical school and it's a sped up one were they condense a two year program into 8 months and each month is what they call a mod which is basically a class and right now I'm the last week of mod 5. I have to do the finale tomorrow and then a certification test for ESCO on Thursday.

ESCO is a company that does tests specifically for HVAC and a couple other trades. Its not required to have any certificates from them to work, but it does look really good and will help you get employed which is why the school I'm at offers them. Next week, in the beginning of mod 6, I'm going to be studying for my 608 certification which is required for me to work in the field.

The 608 is a license from the EPA that means you are legally allowed to work and buy refrigerants. Most refrigerants are pretty dangerous and have pretty bad effects on the environment so the environmental protection agency requires anyone working with them to take this test, to basically prove you know what your doing.

So lots and lots of testing for me. The good news is that once I'm done with all this, I've basically cleared all the major testing I need to do for the next couple weeks, but its a pain in the ass being sick now of all times.

Very. Harry is both underpowered yet awesome and grows stronger over the course of the series. Supernatural faction politics and each book is usually short. Codex Alera is only four books of epic awesome. Great sword fights and elemental power use, and the blood magic using anthro wolf people who have a word for favorite enemy
