You know the real tragedy is that he actually could've worked. Having your dad be the ninja messiah would be hard on anyone and you combine that with the fact Naruto is working himself to the bone to maintain the fragile peace, and not spending the time he should with his family. its understandable that Boruto feels abandoned

The issues is that they never acknowledge how important Naruto's work actually is and acknowledge that while Boruto's feeling are valid, Naruto is literally single handily preventing a world war from breaking out. Naruto can't retire even if he wanted too. But nope Boruto needs his tragic back story to make up for his lack of personality, Naruto sucks, Boruto awesome.

That also ties into my biggest gripe with Boruto. If you want the son of Naruto to feel like an under dog make him suck at being a ninja. make him weak. give him something like Rock Lee's condition. It ties in well with Boruto's drama with his dad. The son of Ninja Jesus sucks at being a ninja.

Where here, Naruto is far less of a sad sap, but also has other issues revolving around a feeling of legacy. He has to surpass Tusande. He has to become a great Ninja equal to one of the legendary Sages.

It's also is a good rebuke to the complaint with the original manga about how the theme of hard work versus natural talent was shat on. Make Boruto work his assoff to be a ninja. Make him the opposite of Naruto who has no love and stupid amounts of talent for being a Ninja with someone with a loving supporting family but none of the talent.

I don't really have any hate for Bortuo. I know of it only second hand. So I can't give a position based on the actual show.

I do think the Jutsu fucking off the walls insane. Far too much madness. And I laugh always at how it did the Dragon Ball Z of Ninjas, but IN SPACE!!!!. On Naruto, being attracted to his mommy figure, does he even like girls with bodies like Hinate or Sakura?

The big thing for Naruto is my story is that he has to grow up so much faster. if he wants to be Tsuande partner he can't be making fart jokes or screwing around in school. He needs to be a man she can depend on and love and the first arc of the story is him trying to become that way too quickly.
