Yeah I hated how Danzo was made the scapegoat for everything wrong it Naruto. Its kind of a meme at this point how hyper competent he would've had to be to plan all this horrible shit out. With Danzo I'm going to make him an antagonist and certainly not a good person, but he's genuinely loyal and loves the village and wouldn't hesitate to put his life on the line to protect it.

His conflict with naruto will be more about how Naruto prioritize his family at the expense of the village while Danzo is the complete opposite, rather than a clear cut good versus evil.

Danzo just wanted to do his job, keep the village safe, train up the next generation to continue the fight, and then die quietly. He didn't want to be seen as a hero or even remembered.
