Questionable Questing

Spiderwick then. So they get to the house. We have how many siblings?
And our evil MC, we can't have them just be pure evil. It's the smut beats of raping and betraying and conquering the family but how he gets there, why he's brought there, and the weird tangle of feelings with his family is key.

And how it reflects on Dark Fae Artistry's power, here's a magic name there, Artistry vs Bright Fae artistry with the chosen one siblings to take from Narnia

The actual Spiderwick book had three siblings, two twin boys and a older sister, along with a single mom. A lot of the drama was that the family was going through a rough divorce with the dad focusing on his new family, and was why the mom moved into the old family house.

I like the twin brother idea, it ties into the whole ones destinted to be evil the other good. A lot of fun ideas you could do with that. especially since no matter how bad the relationship gets their still brothers at the end of the day. They still love each other.

Evil MC destroying Dad's new family Oedipus style. Making a evil dark MC interesting would be fun I think. The justifications

One brother going to the dark Fae, the other the Bright, and the sister Bright too?
Andy333
Andy333
I don't know if I'm going to do one sister or two, but i'm thinking starting off bright but slowly getting seduced towards the dark.

Narnia had a older and younger. And the mom of course caught between the boys

I'm really liking the idea that the whole family outright rejects the prophecy and thinks it stupid, and yet despite how much they openly call it stupid they also fear it and hate as time goes by they all are headed down that path wether they like it or not.
Andy333
Andy333
I like the idea of self fulfilling prophecy's and that by attempting to stop or manipulate it, you make it come true.

I hate that because I've read so many prophecies where fighting it makes it happen that it is no longer clever. It's just, ignore prophecy at this point.

And I don't like how deterministic it is but I do like this plot point. And perhaps the dark MC doesn't betray his family, its what he does to the bullies at school and their enemies that is the source of evil

Going to go get dinner, be right back. But i'm thinking even if there is a betreyal with the family I want it to be tragic and painful for everyone involved. I'm really sick of those betrayal stories where one side is a just a complete monster and just act as punching backs for the protagonist to punch later. For some reason its really common in Manhaw and I hate it.

I was thinking of betrayal with horny brain. Forget betrayal. They keep allowing the evil twin to be a monster because he does it for the family. He destroys and ruins their enemies and takes his pleasure as he does so, but the sister and brother are good, so they think its alright

I'm back. And speaking of the spiderwick chronicals, another intresting plot point in it. is the family ancestor that wrote the book which contains all the magical secrets. Because he did that he ended up getting kidnaped by these special faires that kept him locked and unaging in this weird magical dimsion because their afraid of his abilities.
Andy333

Which his small daughter witnessed and told the police too, ending her up in a mental hospital for the rest of her life. With a big plot point being that the young kids have to go to their elderly family memebr and get her help in locating their ancestor to help him escape and have him help them fight the evil monster.
Bob is bob
Bob is bob
You want to keep that idea?
Andy333
Andy333
I do want to play around with the mystery of what ever happened to their ancestor, and while I'm not sure if he should be alive or dead, I do want his metaphorical ghost to haunt the plot.

Noted. Thought, what if you have the Dark twin in trying their best to be loyal and help the family be heroes become their monster. The demon of the group. Not a ends justify the means but someone who operates under Dark Fae codes as they form his main harem and mentors. And the other two go along with it. What about the mom, how does she get involved?
Andy333
Andy333
I'm thinking with the mom, I kind of want to do a deconstruction of the usual fantasy cliche of the parent not noticing all the supernatural shit going on. Where instead the mom is well aware something weird is going on, but at first just chalks it up to the move and the divorce.
Andy333

And she's dealing with money problems and personal issues of her own so she doesn't have the time or enegry to deal with it, but as time goes by she has her own character arc of trying top reconnect with her kids, deal with the pain of being cheated on and replaced by her husband, and discovering all the magical shit that's going on.
