Questionable Questing

The flesh is that by acknowledging your willing to kill for your goals and dreams, you're saying you're willing to take them away from someone else. We hunger for flesh, so we are willing to spill blood. We are not different from the cave man and animals that were our ancestors despite everything we tell ourseleves.

So he's an edgy idiot and a miserable lonely ass

Its partially a justification and partially just his general world view. Everyone wants something, everyone's willing to kill for it. Betray your allies before they betray you. Always be ready to sink the knife in, no matter who's its against.

So what does he want? What drives him, what are his goals?

But his backstory, what I'm thinking is that I like the idea that all the fae and other magical creatures just thinks he's a troll or some weird mutated monster. With his background being a real mystery to everyone involved with little hints that he knows about the outside world and has a good idea about technology and science that none of the other magical creatures seem to have.

With the big reveal being that he was an escaped convict who's transport bus he was in crashed near the enchanted forest and in the proccess he pissed off a local fae somehow and he was trapped in her dungeon getting experimented on and tourtured for a long enough time that the Fae actually forgot he even existed.

So not a great guy made even worse. Who's only goal is power because power is good. Someone who just wants the numbers in his life to go up.

Now he's escaped again, and he has several different goals. One he wants to be human again, and is why he's taking so much time learning shapeshifting magic. Two he wants revenge and just to see the fae burn for what they've done to him. Third he wants enough magic power or knowledge that he can never get hurt like that again.

And fourthly he wants to go back to the human world where he hasn't decided if he wants a normal life, except commercializing his magic to be a billionaire on an island with a harem of supermodels or if he wants to hunt down other magical forests and be an immortal super wizard.

Like you said a fundamentally immature and evil guy being made a lot worse by being exposed to magic and getting tourtured into something not human.

Shallow goals without deeper character ambition beyond greed and material needs.

Compare our Dark Lord who has a purpose to their domination and rape sex slave dungeon training. A meaning to their corrupted conquest driving them.

Which is contrasted beautifully by someone who just as capable of violence and evil, and yet who's still capable of love and friendship. The best antagonist are a reflection of the protaganist and this guy's what would happened to the punk kid if he didn't have a family or a brother that loved him.

Oh I like this.

Now, plotting. How our protag's meet their respective Fae mentors. I was thinking through the different art the kids interact with.

Just had some cake. Was pretty good. But plotting? I'm a little lost, you have any idea's?

I was thinking, the family moves to the house. Start to see some supernatrual stuff going on, maybe left over traps or loose experiments the ancestor left in the house. Mix that with some flash backs explaing the ongoing divorce and family drama. The kids think the house is haunted, the mom doesn't have time to deal with that bullshit but secretly is a little scared too.

Kids start having weird dreams. Introduce a new school with some interesting side characters. Maybe have a couple people in the local town or school have some paranormal experiance approach the kids and say some cryptic nonsense. Introduce some background lore about the town and start hinting that the huge national forest surronding it may be hiding something in it.

Need a drive to action, a hook like say a danger from a minion of the big bad trying to intimidate them into selling the house
