Questionable Questing

I can think of a couple forums, but there pretty insular and not very welcoming to newcomers. Or their dead basically. lol. Speaking of Something awful have you heard of the slur for transgender people, troon?

If you're ever wondering where that came from, on something awful the moderator team was called goons as a bit of a joke and as time progressed and more of the mods became transgender, trans and goons where mixed together and we have the slur troon.

I mention that because what ended up happening is as time progressed the site's culture changed and a lot of edginess and craziness of the past wasn't allowed anymore, kind of like what happened with Spacebattles, and the sites owner Lowtax didn't like that. He went on a banning spree and start shit flinging drama with everyone and when that didn't work he was basically bullied off of it and sold it eventually.

And what started that whole drama was when Lowtax realized how much of the moderator team was transgender and started making fun of them.

But back to magic cops and robbers. So mafia has a code of ethics, not just to create a sense of community and a system of rules to keep down the violence, and by extension attention the cops have on them, but also because it gives them pride. There not just common gang of crimianls their something more. What rules and customs does the warlock mafia have?

Stuff like guest rights, loyalty to the family, asking permission from the boss before you make certian moves. That's all a given and probably bound by some cursed jewerly or some kind of blood pact, but what else can you think of.

Blood pact and cursed jewelry sounds fun. Wondering here. Respecting different Houses and their master's will over their slaves and famiilars? Giving back to the community around them? Not quite straight mafia, a little idealism here as I abuse dub con and over time corruptive mind control to add venear of likability to these demonic whore master sorcerers.

Well the fun part about the mafia is that they have a very good PR team. Lol. But in all seriousness while the mafia did make sure to try to keep civilians out of fire and tried to at least appear presentable to their communities under them, this is an organization where if a family member of yours talk's to the police they'll ask you to kill them to prove your loyalty.

Father, brother, best friend, it doesn't matter. The mafia is your family and you made an oath to put your loyalty to the mafia above anything else. Plus they were very willing to use violence and brute force against civilians if they owed money or where on their payroll

The fun in writing the mafia is taking the public face of a honorable, respectful, and charitable organization, and contrasting it with the reality of a brutal bunch of sociopaths barely being held back by a complex system of customs, family, and an organized power system.

Different warlock crime families or individual warlocks with slaves bound and broken in dark adoration under them. Black magic here is all about selfish indulgence and violation of cosmic order in favor dionyaisan hedonistic expressions of powerful chaotic will. Vs the wizard cops who rely on their insinuations to support their spell craft.

And yet despite how hedonistic they are they have to hold themselves back because if they just freely indulge in whatever they want, they'll get killed by the wizard cops or by ambitious underlings who get greedy. So they all agree to these silly little rules and customs to try and at least sort of control just how much chaos they were creating.

I like that, natural laws of conduct even the chaos mages follow to create a system for their demonic power cultivation

Because as much as they love chaos their own selfish desires override it, and the people in charge want to make it as difficult as possible for anyone below to replace them.

And for the wizard cops they agree to follow some of these rules and try to keep the fights honorable and honest because they know a full on war between the two factions would be a blood bath for everyone involved and would risk breaking the masquerade

Fuck Masquerade. I do not use the concept. You do an Urban Fantasy. You do a fantasy that is urban. I'm thinking the wizard cops are empowered by guild edicts and can draw on wider principles vs their the warlock using their own emotions and desires to fuel their magic

You know had a funny idea. instead of dons you can have dark lords. Lol. but that's actually an intresting idea, of one person being so strong their able to unite all the different families and clans under their singuler banner. Could be seen as an almost apocalyptic threat by the wizard cops and be something that causes all the rules and customs to get thrown out the window.

Dark lords as dons of different families is fun. I wouldn't have one person in charge of them all but a alliance I could see as a major issue
