Questionable Questing

So magic and science? Are these two concepts fighting each other? If gods get their powers from prayers, do they mentally and physically change based on human preconceptions of them? And if prayers are enough to make a god, do we see new gods of technology and computers rising?
Bob is bob
Bob is bob
No they aren't and heroes and monsters and all that are just lesser Idols. Prayers isn't hoe it works. Narratives being acted out and believed in by the one with that Idol role
Andy333
Andy333
Narratives huh? Kind of sounds like a play or a story book. it reminds me of practical guide to evil, where the characters in it are given a name based on their role in a standard fantasy story and how the universe itself will try to push them into playing out in that role.
Bob is bob
Bob is bob
Fucking exactly. People can choose to embrace the mythic of the Wyrd and become larger than life immortsls
Andy333
Andy333
How limiting is taking on a role? Like if you name yourself a traitor are you just destined to betray everyone you met or can you get a new name by refusing to do it? Do you get stronger the more you betray and weaker the more you refuse it?
Bob is bob
Bob is bob
It's not everyone you meet but you'll have to perform and add to your Calling in the Wyrd by choosing what kind of traitor you are and betraying for what.

Bigger Idol means bigger myth means bigger actions
Andy333
Andy333
So using the traitor example again, betraying a brother or a wife would have much more power than just betraying a friend. Or betraying your ideal's for some like money would have a lot of power as well since how hated it would be. Alright, so myths are dependent not just on how big they are but also on how other people view them with more hate or love giving more power.
Bob is bob
Bob is bob
Lots of internal narrative and the question is do you build a myth on betraying loved ones like Loki or fucking shit up and fixing things like a Loki archtype?
Bob is bob
Bob is bob
Main plot idea is son is summoned back home as dad has been recruited by a greater Idol and they need reinforcements. Son is an Idol of obscenity and virle violence. A horned beast who's raw strength and ferocity is fed by wild heavy music playing ad fuel, and who's myth is one of incest and imprisonment and forced love
Andy333
Andy333
And how did the son end up with that myth? Did he just wake up one day and chose violence and incest? lol. Or was the urges repressed over as long period of time until they exploded? And what is his relationship like with his father?
Bob is bob
Bob is bob
A party with two obscene based darker Idols dualing turned into a slaughter and he saw a taste of the Wyrd and with his thoughts awoken to it drew himself into that role.

His dad thinks his son is tainted but they need help and he trusts him to help.
Andy333
Andy333
So where has the son been for the past coupe years? Informal exile since the dad's afraid of him? Training with relatives? Building his reputation and furthering his role oversea's? Tell me more about his character.

Stuck wandering bars and fight clubs, a friendly monster. He's been attempting to build some morals for his actions to add to his Calling in the Wyrd. He misses his family but is afraid of breaking his mother and sisters and doesn't want to harm his dad.
Bob is bob

But the fact is he can't let go of the Myth He's taken and has been fighting to not add to it. Now the Shadowman, a greater Idol, a true God King in a suit has need of reinforcements against a CEO greater Idol mayor and the son has been called back in

Its sleepy time for me, I'm trying to fix my sleep scheduled since I'm going to start applying for a new job next week, but we'll definitely have to talk tomorrow about how these roles work and how the cyberpunk part fits in. lots of fun stuff.

Got back from the movies, saw the new Bad Boys. Wasn't too bad, pretty funny and over all just a dump action movie to turn your brain off to. I had trouble taking Will Smith seriously as a tough guy after that whole Oscar debacle. lol But still pretty good. How goes finding nerdy girls?
