My idea with the darker side of Jaune is that everyone see's what's on the surface, the lovable goofball knight who speaks in a old timey accent and believes in courtly behaviors and chivalry and assume that's all that's there.

But deeper down you have like you said Jaune was raised to be a king by Salem and while he genuinely believe's in honor and proper behavior, the thing about knightly behavior is that it doesn't tolerate disrespect. If he challenges you because you disrespected his ladies honor and you reject it, then to Jaune's that means you don't respect his household and are a direct threat that needs to be eliminated.

So he's better then his family because his family are crazed power hungry breed happy sex fiends. But he's been raised to be a King here so he will smite a fool. Jaune like a more positive Fate gilgamesh? All pride and ego but with other traits to balance?

He has a very traditional idea of what it means to be a king. Basically being a king isn't just bloodlines or personal power, its a contract .Jaune is the king and he has the authority to control the kingdom as he likes, but in return he needs to respect certain rules and honor his subjects. He needs to lead the defense and take care of internal problem like famines or disease.

Being a king comes with responsibility and if can't fulfill them then he doesn't deserve to be king. But also in a more sinister view, is to Jaune if a leader of a nation doesn't live up to these standards and doesn't properly maintain their kingdom, then he's fully justified in conquering their land since their not living up to their contact and are therefore not a valid kingdom deserving of proper honors.

I think Jaune acts the doof but he is becoming more aware of his family's issues and fights for his friends. So while he does fall in love with Nora and Ren, and is into making ren the femboy sub cuck, he wants them to be a part of it and not moulded into it. While cinder sees bitches to add to their power and Salem acts super sweet but hides ancient evil

Yeah Jaune's a hero that's just a few hundred years too late and he's making it the rest of the worlds problem instead of changing. lol. But yeah that's the characterization I'm going for. Jaune isn't nearly as stupid or oblivious as he presents himself as, he's just stuck in the position of knowing and understand why his family is acting the way they do and yet knowing its wrong regardless.

He wants to help them and for his family to be better, but at the same time he loves them too much to ever abandon them or issue an ultimatum so he's being dragged along into their insanity.

So what is his arc and Ren, what are you doing with him as in the show he has very fucking little of anything and same for Nora

Jaune's Arc, haha funny pun, is going from a sheltered kid really into fantasy into a genuine king. Its him not only learning how to tell his family no and actually start leading them along with his team, but its also him starting to really take control of his life. Because for Jaune letting his family decided what to do has kind of been his comfort zone for the longest time.

Ren and Nora's arc is learning how to really open up to people. They have the stereotypical backstory of entire village and family being destroyed by grim and only having each other to survive in the show and I really want to explore it. How Nora acts a lot dumber than she actually is so people don't expect much from her. How Ren likes to use his semblance to hide so he doesn't have to talk to people.
