I love how fucking weird this all is, and into this comes Tai as one all three girls stake a claim on.

But back onto fighting styles. Grimm style takes its name because it attempts to mimic the overwhelming aggression of the grim themselves. its big on really fast slashes and being extremely aggressive and in your face. With a lot of practitioners specializing in what's called grim claws, where you shape your aura into knifes use it to slice through things.

And Huntress style is focused mainly on acting as a distraction and shield. Basically its tailor made so that if some grimm are attacking a village you can maximize the Grimm focusing on you and not the civilians trying to escape. it focuses on very wide area of attacks, on turning your aura into barriers and shields, and on keeping the enemy distracted with fire, the terrain, or your body.

But yeah, with the girls I'm obviously stealing a lot of stuff from Street fighter, but I also really like the idea of them all having this tragic and detailed backstory that has nothing to do with Salem or Ozpin or Tai. Kind of makes the world seem bigger, you know? Team RWBY's not the center of everything.

I like this expanded narrative scope through the girls and Grimm style being focused on personal combat and animal ferocity in different forms while Hunter style is heroic and defensive. Really like the distraction bit for how it intergrates what Hunters do in the world.

I'm thinking with the Atlas style, they do a modified version of the usual huntress style except they heavily focus not just on working with teams and coordinating with air support, but they also favor guns over traditional mech weapons so they focus heavily on firing lines and moving from cover to cover under fire rather than sword fighting. Also very big on how to set up fortifications as quickly as possible.

So is Cami here a john wu gun fu girl?

I was actually thinking she prescribed to the Russian military idea's of lobbing artillery at everything and over time slowly evolving into gun fu thanks to learning underneath Juri and Chun Li.

Kind of mirrors her character arc of being a totally loyal Atlas solider that didn't ask questions about her orders or care about the collateral in the beginning and then slowly gain's perspective and a personal touch thanks to her lovers.

I like. So what is Tai's Grimm style? Dragon inspired? There's a irony in being a great Grimm slayer when he uses a terrifying alpha Grimm as the avatar for what guides his Aura training and martial arts techniques. Exploding volcanic dragon wrath fists of iron.

Tai is a brawler through and through, he was a bit of a street punk and a delinquent before he started getting mentored by Ozpin who noticed his potential pretty early on which he mixed in with the traditional huntress style and then the Branwen clan's personal style which he learned under Raven and Qrow who learned it from their father.

And the Branwen clan, heavily focuses on what they call the decapitating shot. The idea is if the enemy is panicking and running, then their not fighting back so the style centers around lining up one singular blow that ends the fight as fast as possible, usually through surprise or speed. It's big on flashy and quick attacks than not only kill but also intimidate the enemy.

What is the Branwen style and so Raven and Qrow also helped teach him. Which furthers his bond to the two. And Tai acts the goody dad but he was way more thuggish then Yang has ever been.

The Branwen style is big on gory, flashy, and speedy moves. The idea being of causing panic, so the defenders have trouble entrenching themselves. Stuff like cutting someone's head off or using the blood on your blade to blind someone. It focuses on being as fast and precise as possible usually with cutting weapons and aura techniques that lean heavily towards uncontrollable fire or lighting.

Interesting. So Aura techniques and semblances are different, and Tai here took that style and applied it to fists and claws and kicks and grabs

Yep, and an interesting thing you probably notice is that the Branwen style is very similar to the grimm style, just with a focus on speed rather than grappling.

So Tai yang is a explosive fiery footed hard style street fighter

But with elemental aura techniques, most practitioners are able to do it by using dust and then forcing the resulting explosion into different shapes with their aura, but the higher end users can do it purely with their will power.

Atleast in the beginning Tai is big brawler and kick boxer taking advantage of his semblance to make it even more deadly, with a surprising amount of skill in knives and swords. But he'll learn from Cammie and Juri some of their techniques and under Salem and Jaune as well to evolve his style further.
