I'm having Superman specialize in force fields, since not only is thematic since he's protects people but it also ties in with his own fears of eventually becoming so strong he can't have a normal life without hurting people and the ability to put shields around them would be a godsend for him.

This video is amazing and does more with Superman's character than any live action I can think of and is exactly why he would love force fields.

But back to Powergirl, I'm liking the idea that she was an attempt to manufacture a normal Kryptonite by Viltrum and when they saw how weak she was they abandoned the project, completely overlooking her solar absorption ability since ironically it took to long to show results.

Then through some backroom deals as many of the genetic experimentation was shut down and then audited after Viltrum lost the war, Power girl, who was cryogenically frozen and memory wiped, was bounced around various criminal groups out in space that were either puppets or allies of Viltrum as while they had no use for her they didn't want the Green Lateran's knowing about these experiments.

They didn't killed her out of either out of nostalgia or ego, because they considered her the last Kryptonite in existence and so she was in limbo for a few hundred years, until one of those criminal allies either betrayed them, or was killed by an underling that had no clue about the deal, and the Green lanterns found her.

I have thoughts on Viltrum war. In the comics it's only vtrumites. But in DC they aren't invincible. They have an empire and are in low population. When do they start sending spies to earth? Proxy armies from conquered worlds? Where is the empire for a true war

Then the Lantern's not knowing her background at this point, keep in mind its been hundreds of years of obfuscation, decided that since Superman was the leader of surviving Kryptons it was his choice on what he wanted to do. And superman welcomed her like a long lost family member and helped her rebuild herself from her amnesia. Thinking she was a survivor of the doomed planet like him.

Not knowing about the latent Viltrum slave programming imbedded deep into her body along with many other surprise enhancements that only finally triggered after her and Mark got just a little too frisky during a spar.

Mark having some issues at first when he compares himself to uncle Clark and feels he's only a avatar of violence. Mark's power is mythological warrior God might and stamina and endurance.

As for the Viltrum war's. My current rough timeline is, a couple thousand years ago krypton crack genetic engineering, leading to a caste system being born with different traits being hard coded into you when your a baby. Aggression for solider, reading retention for scientist, you get the idea. Around that time the military faction starts to take over and conquers the nearby worlds and establish's colonies.

I see Mark's side of the story with Debbie and Kara and the bat girls and Wonder Women as in hindsight their loved ones realize the fall was happening in front of them piece by piece

One of those colonies is named Viltrum after the general that led several very effective conquests including the newly named planet. Soon though there's a civil war on Krypton as the Science caste takes the lead in rebelling against the needless wars and they end up winning, mainly thanks to a newly created super computer named Braniac.

Mark is a biological warlord which clashes with his humanity but he take advantage of it and hones it while his sisters focus on how to stay the most human and treat their powers as dangerous temptation. The mindset is part of getting the most out of the power but that mindset is alien and brutal and strong

Afterwards Krypton under goes intense centralization and isolation with all of the former colonies and client states being abandoned, as the newly sentient Braniac realizes its going to be a lot easier to control the Krypton's if their all in one planet. All except Viltrum which was swollen with some of the most rabid nationalist and hard core Military Veteran's who refused to surrender.

For the next few hundred years or so Viltrum attacks and expands, but no matter how strong they get, they keep getting slapped down by Krypton which had a much higher population and technology base, with one of the most important campaign being lead by an ambitious Kryptononian named Zod.

Who despite being discriminated against for being a military caste, the Science cast becoming increasingly tyrannical over the years, he refused to betray his loyalty to his planet and is one the key reason Krypton won. After the war, Zod and his best friend Jor-El noticed that the core fracking the planet did for energy was destabilizing it.
