Which speaking of monster hunting, again I don't know your plan for this quest, but spooky haunted Harrenhal is pretty close to where Hurrik's at. The ghosts of an entire army of damned Ironborn trying to escape the castle they were bound to and in the process stirring up the local wildlife and monsters.
Maybe have an over arching plot line of Euron trying to raise them to conquer Westeros in a evil version of the ghost army in Lord of the Ring. Could make for a good mid-tier enemy before you introduce the real big bad.
I knew he died, but maybe he got better? Lol. Or maybe one of his many bastard children or a bitter ironborn with an equal amount of daddy issues who's angry at his peoples changing direction has a vision and a litch or ghostly version of Euron yelling in his ears about a secret army.
The ghostly army is great. Euron is super fucking dead. He did so much blood magic the gods who can normally do nothing got to intervene and fucking obliterated him. What you think of my wildling girls ideas?
I thought so unfortunately. Once you piss off the gods as much as he did there's no way you're coming back even as a ghost. Still a ghostly army, secret disgruntled Ironborn conspiracy, maybe a few Lovecraftian style haunted towns to explore. God knows a shit ton of ancient Riverland settlements and thousands of people were either butchered or worked to death building that Castle.
Lots of fun places to explore. Could maybe give Hurrik a couple visions of a massive Kraken swallowing up the land as you slowly reveal the secret army. But Wildling girls sounds fun. Am curious to see how having a good chunk of WIldling settling down in this land and how they interact and slowly mingle in will affect the culture.
I could definitely see social roles becoming a little more fluid. I mean a noble is still a noble, but for smaller landed Knights and for serfs at the bottom end especially I could totally see it becoming a lot easier to trade land or status. As well as physical strength and martial ability being a lot more respected and seen as an honorable way to handle disagreements rather than through money or politicking.
Since Wildinglings are very martial people. Not to mention women picking up swords will probably become more often as wildingling mothers teach their daughters how to fight. But then again Wildlings also have a pretty robust clan system that I could see neatly fitting into the preexisting Westeros system. Maybe blood isn't as important, but rather who your friends and family are?
With Hurrik, other than dealing with monsters, guilds, and various religious groups, what other factions are you looking at making? Obviously Hurrik is a rising star especially if he has Lyanna with him, would make perfect sense if the nearby nobles and knights tried to butter Hurrik up and earn his favor to in turn earn Lyanna's favor.
Could be a nice excuse for him to have some oversized influence in the North and the Riverlands despite what on the surface seems like pretty bad land and standing. And why many nobles would travel to meet him and thus involve him in their plots and schemes.
