I was actually thinking of making Tsunade the first lady, the mother on top with her daughters and sons not only being a lot stronger than Boruto but also a lot more popular and closer to the family. Adds some nice tension to the story, and it neatly slides in with Hinata's role. She's the diplomat on the surface, but underneath it she's the spy mistress.

Multiple wives here with Naruto. Make Tsuande first wife and Hinate not the first so Boruto sees his neglected mom and gets IDEAS

Hinate loved but never as much as Tsuande. She's the sun to Hinate's moon and Boruto wants his mom and sister to be treasured and owned by a powerful Shinobi. Him.

I hadn't come up with specific names, but sure. Really the big concept is that Sasuke's still seeking vengeance, he's just doing it by living well. By having a long and happy life and restoring his clan, something Itachi thought was cursed and needed to be destroyed.

He's out for revenge against Itachi? But I thought he loved Itachi again?

It's a love hate relationship, Itachi's obviously dead at this point and Sasuke has forgiven him. But Sasuke also very much disagrees with his brother. Because for Itachi, he basically believed that the only way for this new world, naruto's way, is for all the old ones to die off and be forgotten about. Clear the board of the past so to speak. While Sasuke thinks it's possible to move past it no matter how hard.

Since if Sasuke can learn how to forgive and love his brother, then his enemy's can learn how to forgive each other. And that's what finally lets him join Naruto's side.

What is the Canon plot of that again? Never got that far

Itachi was under orders from Danzo to commit the massacre, since his clan was planning a coup after the Fox attack since news that the assassin that caused it was a Uchita was leaked and basically reignited tensions and feuds within the village against the Uchita that all started all the way back when Marda killed the first Hokage.

But while Itachi killed his family because he did genuinely choose the village and it's future over them and a part of him resented how much his father especially treated him like a tool, another aspect of it was that he thought the Uchita was inherently evil thanks to the nature of their eyes, and on some level was planning to kill his brother too and destroy the clan forever but couldn't bring himself to do it.

Instead accepting that one day Sasuke would kill him, and in his mind he hoped bring a new future to the clan without the shame and trauma of the past. Basically wiping the slate clean. And in the meantime he would continue to serve the village by going undercover and finding out more about the Akatsuki.

Well keep in mind he was a child soldier whose first kill was when he was like five or six, his dad saw him more as a political tool since the Hokage was grooming the kid as a potential replacement if Naruto changed his mind or his students weren't up for it. Then the Fox happened and suddenly his clan's pariah's and instead of trying to peacefully resolve it, they double down and get even more stupid.

Somehow thinking they could threaten the whole Village into letting them in charge, thinking they could bluff their way in since the Village was weak enough after everything a civil war would potentially start another world war that could destroy them. Of course giving no thought to how anyone else would see it or what would if the Hokage decided to call their bluff.

Sorry, got the dates mixed around. But all this stuff is kind of building on top of each other. But what I'm trying to say is that Itachi was legitimately crazy. He was coo coo for Coco puffs. He wasn't competent. He legit mentally wanted his clan to fight back because on some level he had hoped they would kill him.
