I'm thinking noble orgy party filled with drugs, murder, and debauchery. Something horrible enough that Charlie would go full rip and tear no questions asked, not only because I want Charlie to be completely by herself in the beginning, so no hopeful cultist members to act as a depository of exposition for her, but also I want her to realize just how horrible people can be.
Since a pretty big running theme of this story is Charlie slowly morphing into her father's role for this world, after hundreds of years of trying to fix shitty people. So having Charlie inadvertently wipe out a bunch of people in the beginning will not only be pretty traumatizing for her, I'll make the deaths accidental as her extreme emotions lights everything on fire, but it'll also set the tone.

I love the ending when the Camera pans upside down, so you get the viewpoints of all the cultists. And speaking of a street urchin boy and girl, two of the planned spouses for Charlie, from a pool of ten at least in the beginning, was going to be a pair of twin orphan street rats Charlie was going to adopt and take care of. They where either going to be the second or third spouse she gets.
Behind the first one that gets killed, thus causing her to use her powers for the first time to basically make all her spouses her immortal minions, and another one that doesn't want to be immortal so he basically divorces her amicably and passes on. Of course Vaggie shows up around this time as well. lol. But back to the twins. Charlie raises them, and they promise to marry her when she gets older.
But it doesn't change the story that much to be destined sacrifices Charlie saves. Which also ties in with the role I had planned for them, with the two actually forming a demon/cultist hunting organization. With their original backstories being street rats targeted by Jack the Ripper, who in this one is a demonic entity that Charlie eventually kills, with the twins vowing to fight Evil's like that in the future.
With this all tying together with the reporter, the viewpoint character in the beginning exploring Charlie's past, since after he married Charlie the twins help introduce him to the paranormal world and he starts helping them uncover a link between powerful groups funding these cults and basically acts as a their Sherlock Holmes while the twins are the Van Helsing's kicking ass.
Haven't made the paladin yet. But the current list of husbands so far out of ten is the first one who's murdered. The second, the preacher that loved her but wanted to die powerless so he could reach heaven. Vaggie. The twins. Then we have the pirate, a greedy cruel Spanish Conquistador who finds God and goodness falling in love with Charlie.
So six or five so far, depends if I'm going to make the twins count as one person or not. Out of ten. Or maybe more. Depends. And here's milky Charlie.
He's a mixture between a general, spy master, and admiral. I mentioned before that in the future Charlie becomes the leader of a huge company, and the pirate handles a lot of the back room deals needed to keep it afloat. Smuggling, sabotaging, spying, that kind of stuff. But he's not a full on spy, not subtle enough for that. He's more of a sledge hammer so to speak to kill the bad guys rather than a scalpel
