DC Animated Universe: The RPG (Skyrim!Gamer SI/DCAU Crossover - Haremfic)

Thanks for the chapter. This part feels very off, like the immediate attraction seems totally ramdom considering the circumstances.

I'd say it depends on how it's played. Both of them are odd cases. One is from an island that completely lacks in men, and was shown by canon heterosexual, and the other is from a deeply militaristic, high government authority society that prizes martial might above all. It's understandable both may have.... reactions. That said, there's a difference between having that reaction, and actually acting upon it. This is especially true in a war zone.

Also most times when something like this starts the target of affection lacks high tier body reading, and mental modeling to know immediately.

End result? Something like this happening quickly is reasonable. I would expect it to take time to turn into anything. One could also make it more even by noting when affection is directed at others, because not keeping such in mind can lead to unpleasantness. Both women have canon relationships in the league for example.

Spoilered for size. If you've never seen the Justice League Cartoon, I highly reccomend it.

EDIT (sorry):

Pretty much yeah.
I have not. This and worm are the only two bits of super hero media I've really consumed outside of the live action marvel movies.

So really good shows to watch for this would be superman the animated series, batman the animated series, justice league obviously, and the justice league unlimited. The first two would be series that'll give you windows into both this version of bats, and this version of supes. They're what came before justice league which we're basically at the start of. Justice league unlimited is the future.

All four series are excellent, and recommended to be watched in any way you can get. The first two, at least, would fall under past events. The third is a choice of if you prefer context for not just what's happening, but what's changed, or if you prefer maximum surprise. If you do decide you want to watch everything the start of unlimited is bringing in more capes as regular team members. Like... Lots more. One could even say unlimited.

If you don't wanna do any of that, due to a lack of time, or a lack of effort to spend on the recommendation of a stranger, I'll endeavor to give context when you have questions. Fair warning to prefer watching the stuff? It obviously hits different when seen versus when explained.

Kill the Xeno and their disgusting Culture. Then cleanse Mars, as far as i remember Martian Manhunter is the last Martian alive and those Xeno 'Imperium' are not allowed to survive, just because they used their brain and hide some of them in Mars caves, this time.
Ms. Martian was found on one of Saturn's moons in a more recent retcon.

If he's gonna make a solar beam cannon will it be variable wavelengths so he can switch it to red sunlight and blue sunlight for when kryptonian nonsense pops up?

Actually good point. I was only thinking in buff potential. Portable red sun projector to mess with justice lords and similar. Good training tool to get Clark some dodge or avoidance instincts in a safe environment. I love expanding on uses for tinker shit.

Another thing would be to reproduce the effects of different colors of kryptonite. One of them gives humans the powers of a kryptonian if I remember correctly.

That.... Probably significantly harder, and if it gets out could lead to supes haters trying to raid the lab. I'm not saying it has NO merit, but it's far from the free money on the table of refining the sun gun. I could see some messing with it as a possible future option Fulcon could use.

we are so back!!

i got a little excited when i first read this, i thought a stand somehow made it into the story, cause read smoke and people getting younger lol

Thanks! And it was just his imagination.

Short version of Nth metal? The ball of hurt on a stick HURTS, no exceptions.

The Infinity +1 Mace will smash everyone's face in.

Thanks for the chapter. This part feels very off, like the immediate attraction seems totally random considering the circumstances.

Attraction cares not for the matters of reason.

End result? Something like this happening quickly is reasonable. I would expect it to take time to turn into anything. Yeah, just because there's attraction doesn't mean they're going to get down and dirty right there, with everyone watching. The furthest I could see it going during the invasion is banter.

I have not. This and worm are the only two bits of super hero media I've really consumed outside of the live action marvel movies.

Again, I must recommend the cartoon. It's really good.

Ms. Martian was found on one of Saturn's moons in a more recent retcon.

Is that so? I was wondering where she came from.

If he's gonna make a solar beam cannon will it be variable wavelengths so he can switch it to red sunlight and blue sunlight for when kryptonian nonsense pops up?

It's going to be reconfigured into a shoulder cannon following the invasion, because this is too good to pass up.

Also, have a cookie.

thanks for the chapter

Thanks for the comment!

Beautiful. Just beautiful. I love it when I get suggestions like this.

Have a cookie.

I'll consider it for the future.

Perhaps I should elaborate on why Kryptonite messing is harder. In almost every series where any kind of tinkering occurs, it's expensive, time consuming, and difficult to predict even for well funded labs stocked with high intellect. Most that do anything get as far as synthesizing green to explain why it's available, but rare, and Supes destroying some from a distance with heat vision doesn't cripple the supervillain involved.

Other colors? Who knows what you'll get? Could get give humans kryptonian powers yeah. That's a good result. Could get an anti kryptonian weapon like gold that depowers them without killing them until it's removed from their system, and their damaged cells get healed. Could get the turn Kryptonians berserk red, or the turn Kryptonians gay pink. Could get the turn Kryptonians evil black.

There's no clean, or assured way of knowing what you'll get when you spin that roulette wheel. Most places that try get random amounts of various colors in probabilistic rates. Black is like... the rarest, but it can still happen. If you knew, sight unseen, that this were the dice game you'd be playing, would you be keen on betting on it? If so you're braver than me.

Nth metal is also very compatible with soul shenanigans. Like reincarnation or being able to hold on to and manifest a body for it or empower it.

It can also be made to selectively ignore how things should be and messing with things on a conceptual level.

Edit:
Nth metal is arguably one of the least problematic of the super metals of DC. For all its potential for shenanigans it has been used to cause very little problems when compared to the others.

Batman had some Nth Metal Knuckles he used to punch a ghost in The Brave And The Bold.

With all of that done, here's my current tally for my Smithing skill.

The final ten ranks of any skill could, but not always, take years. That's why I cheated and waited until I hit the final ten ranks to start reading skill books and, in the modern day, watch instructional videos
This could be a plot point later on. His stuff working better than it has any right to even if he's using the more common steel alloys and not the more fun and interesting kinds.

Interesting people looking to commission things for interesting purposes.

Yup, Flash is gonna be feeling something alright.
It was really faint and hopefully no one would see it.
Aside from all the supers with enhanced perception and those trained to notice everything even subconsciously.
holstering my pistol so I could unfold the Healer Laser. Armor wouldn't let me unfold the latter while the former was out of its holster. Safety precaution, you know? Couldn't afford a mix up
Alls well and good till you need to shoot and heal at the same time or switch relatively quickly.
Even through my armor's temperature regulation, I could feel the heat of the bolts as they whizzed past me en masse.
So his telekinetic force field doesn't protect him from energy attacks?
I rocketed up to the second floor on the opposite side and tackled it with a shoulder charge, trying to force it in the direction of the weakened supports.

Health: 99%.
He does have a telekinetic force field right? Does it only grant super strength? Or is the boost not as substantial as I thought it was?
I deployed my laser. I said, I deployed my laser! Why won't it deploy?

With a frustrated growl, I holstered my blaster and actually deployed my laser,
Many Safety Features are great to have till they eat at precious few seconds during critical moments.

Why not just swap the hand that holds the gun instead of holstering it?
But unfortunately, my maxed out melee skills were completely useless here because these things shrug off physical trauma like a fish shrugs off a squirt gun.
Put enough force and they'd explode. Even if it doesn't kill them they still need to reform which takes time. Hopefully enough to buy some time to field a more permanent solution.
Because I had maxed out Biology, I actually could tell if someone had cancer on sight.
Would be nice if he could figure out who are shapeshifters or non humans by the subtle differences in behavior that comes from living with an alternate body plan for most of the time or unique experiences that it affords.

Some constructive feedback:

Okay.

You should try to maintain logical consistency in your story as you write.

That's insulting.

Your MC was a prodigy in one martial art ("Judges said I was the greatest Tae Kwon Do practitioner they'd ever seen"), with supernaturally strong stamina ("Sprinting doesn't affect my stamina meter anymore"), high level enhanced fitness for his age, and supernaturally enhanced 'danger-sense' super powers...

He has all of that, and yet, somehow, he's so garbage at wrestling that even his own teammates make fun of him?

Yup. Because it doesn't matter how much 'bleed through' the other disciplines give him, if he can't pass the Grappling check, he can't pass the Grappling check. Simple as that.

It doesn't make any sense.

Yes, it does, actually. I just don't think you buy the premise.

If he's gained supernatural powers, and is so skilled at one marital art that several experienced Martial Art judges agreed he was a prodigy...

It makes no sense for him to be so pathetically garbage at wrestling.

Real life is not a video game.

He is a video game character, and is thus subject to video game rules. His skills are silo'd to preserve game balance. To permit bleed through would compromise the whole point of the game.

You are writing a story about real life - and in real life, supernatural training in one discipline, as well as supernatural powers like 'danger-sense' and enhanced fitness/stamina, is BOUND to have a crossover effect in other disciplines.

Can there be crossover effect? Sure. Will it be enough to compensate for a low enough score in the appropriate discipline? No. Why? Because this is a video game character who is subject to stuff like game balance.

Your MC should be LEAGUES above any other 'new' wrestler, simply by dint of his peak/enhanced fitness, superpowers (danger-sense & enhanced stamina), and experience in one martial discipline.

Even if he wouldn't be anywhere close to an expert wrestler, he should still have a decent enough leg up to the point that he wouldn't be ridiculed for being so pathetic.

No, he shouldn't.

Incidentally, that logical consistency you recommended? You should work on that yourself first before telling other people they need to do that, because bad faith criticism isn't constructive criticism. Savvy?

This could be a plot point later on. His stuff working better than it has any right to even if he's using the more common steel alloys and not the more fun and interesting kinds.

The Kinetic field is reinforcing the structural integrity.

Interesting people looking to commission things for interesting purposes.

Ew. Commissions.

I mean, you're right, but ew.

Yup, Flash is gonna be feeling something alright.

It's going to be a fun point of conversation, that is true.

Aside from all the supers with enhanced perception and those trained to notice everything even subconsciously.

Shhhhhh it's his inexperience talking. :p

Alls well and good till you need to shoot and heal at the same time or switch relatively quickly.

Correct.

So his telekinetic force field doesn't protect him from energy attacks?

Why would it?

He does have a telekinetic force field right? Does it only grant super strength? Or is the boost not as substantial as I thought it was?

What do you mean? Without it he'd go splat against the structure without making a dent.

Many Safety Features are great to have till they eat at precious few seconds during critical moments.

Why not just swap the hand that holds the gun instead of holstering it?

Because the hand that holds the healing beam and the hand that holds the pistol are already two different hands. If he holds the gun in the other hand, he can't grasp the handle of the healing beam.

And before you ask, having both out at once is like driving with both of your feet on the pedals - unsafe because mix-ups happen. Having only one foot to work the pedals prevents those mix-ups and it's the same principle here.

Put enough force and they'd explode. Even if it doesn't kill them they still need to reform which takes time. Hopefully enough to buy some time to field a more permanent solution.

Hm, I'm not sure. I know Hawkgirl smashes them with her mace but her mace is the Infinity+1 Mace, so it can do that. I specifically remember in the cartoon one instance where Wonder Woman charged through one and it reformed an instant later.

Would be nice if he could figure out who are shapeshifters or non humans by the subtle differences in behavior that comes from living with an alternate body plan for most of the time or unique experiences that it affords.

After this invasion, it's never going to come up again. With the Alien's leeching off of psychic energy, it's a pretty-much flawless impersonation; they even mimic heartbeats and stuff. Even Superman couldn't tell the difference.

When I think of Super Strength I tend to expect things like misting people you punch without restraint. I also tend to forget that powers come in a spectrum with potentially multiple axis.

He has out of context powers, he could have some leeway. It could have been tied to multiple skill checks to show how out there and difficult it was to do so.

If force doesn't solve it you're clearly not using enough of it. Kek.

I'd like to see it reform when it's molecules are spread several kilometers apart and or atomized.

Understandable, I forget too, sometimes.

Honestly, I didn't think about it. Maybe I'll revisit it at some point in the future because I'm still thinking about the Skill Max bonuses.

There's a difference between kinetic damage and thermal damage, though.

I think I'm missing something.

I just have a personal distaste for commissions. Several people have asked me to write stuff for them, but the answer is always no.

I think the Mace disrupts their nervous system and prevents them from maintaining the consciousness when it hits them, causing death.

At a small enough scale there is little difference between thermal and kinetic damage. Kek.

I think the Mace disrupts their nervous system and prevents them from maintaining the consciousness when it hits them, causing death.
Sleep causes a disruption of consciousness as well. Hmm… a modified sleep or dream spell could be quite the killer.

If every action your main character takes requires a skill check and skill checks can completely override things like superpowers and physical stats, and thus your MC lacks physical agency, then yes, your story maintains logical consistency.

My entire reply was informing you that this is the case.

He is a video game character that follows video game logic. The second he engages in an activity that falls within the boundaries of one of his declared skills, that skill check overrides everything else.

And yet, for some impossible reason, you thought it best to spend an entire essay to hammer home an obviously erroneous point.

It's not even on the story itself! You're talking about prologue, written in broad strokes that only exists to catch the readers up to the actual story.

I understand that it's difficult to read criticism of something you've written and not take it personally. Please know that nothing I write here is intended to insult, and that my words are genuine.

You say that, but then you wrote an entire paragraph trying to reinforce a point that is wrong. You're not trying to help me tell the story I want, you're trying to force the rules of the story to bend to your preferences.

I am a professional writer (my book series on Amazon is called 'Reborn: Apocalypse', and I've written more than 1 million words of other stories on sites like Royal Road and Webnovel) and only want to provide genuine feedback.

An appeal to authority?

Get out.

Why do assholes like that feel the need to announce their departure?

Humans have an innate desire for the last word, which must be trained or beaten out of them by life. This can be gentle, like getting into multiple encounters like this and realizing they don't bring joy, thus optimize them ending quickly by simply blocking and moving on when you know where it's going.

It can be... not... gentle via having these encounters in meatspace where things can escalate to violence.

I had the first, and watched the second.

And he deleted all his posts. I want to laugh, but it's honestly just sad.
I wonder if it was a sockpuppet account?

Maybe. Most creatives have crippling self-esteem issues stemming from difficult childhoods. Because they spend so much time trying to solve the problems of their lives, they develop the mental mindscapes necessary in order to be, well, creative. Because you get creative when you're trying to solve a problem.

This guy is a published author and for some reason felt the need to criticize a story they found on a relatively obscure board with themes that honestly don't have that much mass appeal. The criticism was on one of the smallest and most unimportant parts of the story. Completely irrelevant, but he wasted a few hundred words expounding on it. You know why that is? Envy.

He's a published author and felt like I was a better writer than he was, so he felt the need to try to 'put me in my place' under the guise of constructive criticism. Unfortunately for him, I've grown up around stupidity like that. It's just not until recently that I figured out what to do about it.

EDIT: Seemed to have dropped the point. TL;DR: He read some of my work, got insecure and wanted to promote his book and then tried to bully me.
