Feel The Ground Shake (Pokemon - Ground-type specialist)

Hmmmm. I don't like it. It looks like neither an Anaconda nor a Steel type. It also doesn't evolve by move.

I can't believe that Pryce gets the primary credit for Mamoswine. Bradley's the one that had one long before him, and Bradley is the one who had to tell Pryce.
Oh this looks much worse than Arbok.

Anyways this little shit Pryce shouldn't be getting any credit especially since with how things are I doubt the people paired with a gym leader in the credits will get any recognition.

Please dont go to much out with the fakemons

I don't plan to. This was just to serve as an introduction to the concept. That there may be evolutions possible that Bradley himself is not aware of.

Does this mean Dunseraph might actually be a thing? Also hope you dont go to nuts with the Fakemon.

Unfortunately no. Once Dudunsparce came into existence, any chance of Dunseraph fully died. For the second half of your comment, see above.

Uh, Adnokana is a Poison/Steel type, not Poison/Dark. Just a minor heads up. :)

Aw shit. Well that's the egg I get on my face for rushing and not doing my homework. I lifted the name 'Adnokana' off a reddit thread talking about possible Arbok evolutions and people saying they liked it. That and 'basilisk' backwards just sounded silly when trying to pronounce it. I hadn't realized a fan game already had an actual fakemon of that name made.

So what happened with Team Rocket? Did Bradley find enough Peat? Did Petrel confront him about it well enough that Bradley expressed the desire to have more of that specific type of soil? Is Petrel going to get him more samples even without further work? Did Petrel work more on courting Bradley as a friend of him and/or Team Rocket? Etc?

Eh, an Ancient Power evolution that's like a Titanoboa would be pretty fitting and could still use the same name even if it doesn't have any other similarities to the pre-existing Fakémon. Looking forward to the description of the one in the story, the other one kinda looks like it's just a Pokemon Fusion design of Arbok and Steelix.

Now, the most obvious Fakemon that Bradley's never seen are the horde of Eeveelutions we've been overdue for. Seriously, nothing in several generations and the last was only one just to highlight that game's Affection mechanic and the new Type.

Then there's how many semi-redundant Evolution Stones that only have a couple of Pokémon that react to it in the games (Sun, Dawn, Shiny, I'm looking at you, same goes for Moon & Dusk), there's bound to be a wider range than we've seen programmed in the games.

...I'm also 95% positive the only thing preventing Jynx from joining Electabuzz & Magmar with a special item Evolution just like their trio of pre-Evolutions is social media outrage at drawing attention to Jynx again. I personally enjoy picturing that Evolution as the Fat Lady Opera Singer, possibly with a Spear and Magic Helmet.

But yeah, a few more Evolutions or even Pre-Evolutions doesn't seem unreasonable.

Like there's Friendship Evolutions, but the move Frustration rewarding having a Pokémon hate you could easily mean there's some Evolutions lurking around that same vein. In setting, those probably aren't good ones for anyone involved and information about them would probably suppressed for everyone's safety. Team Rocket research probably turns up a few though.

Can you imagine a banette that evolves with frustration?

Chucky-tier murder-doll, anyone? :V

Yeah, I figure it would be either a Ghost or Dark Type to have that kind of Evolution, or they'd get that secondary Type after evolving (which makes it even less Family Friendly if it's becoming a Ghost).

Banette, Primeape, and Gyarados are the top three that come to mind for evolving out of sheer hate, and funnily enough Primeape actually kind of ended up doing just that with a different Move to become Annihilape. And wouldn't you know it, it's a Ghost Type secondary.

For a Ground Type (to be on theme for Bradley's specialty, even if he'd never cause the Evolution himself based off of his wholesome relationships with his team), I'd have to typecast Hippowdon with that solely due to hippos being murderous rage-beasts who go out of their way to catch a body.

...Maybe a Stunfisk (or Regional variant, Galarian includes a Pokéball-lure beak design) that becomes a landmine, which would also include learning Explosion on Evolving. Galarian especially, that beak-lure has to be targeting humans specifically by appearing like a Pokéball (unless it's supposed to lure things that hunt Foongus, but even that's got a 50/50 split on specifically mentioning people as what they lure with their appearance).

I'm not sure how I feel about regular fake evolutions, but I've always thought that most pokemon should have homebrewed mega variants. There are many breeds from the earlier games that don't have one and it kind of messes with the lore a bit when an established powerhouse of a character uses one as their main, like Lance and Dragonite. The worldbuilding then either nerfs the character or the concept of megas as a whole.

There's actually a whole bunch of fakemons that share the same name, oddly enough. Some of them are Poison/Dark.
There's also a neat Poison/Dragon one that reminds me of the Zolom from Final Fantasy.

Doesn't look like a steel type anyways. On the other hand, no other ancient power evo changed secondary typing on evolution. I support the Poison/Dark typing but you could just paste over it with pure poison typing instead of giving more weight to fan evolutions and having to stick close to their lore.

This is a fair point. But I think I'll just commit to the dual-type. I hit the publish button with it there, may as well stay the course.

It's honestly not going to matter much. Even with this reveal, Bradley's not going to be suddenly encountering this snake everywhere he goes. It's main purpose is to introduce the concept of more new evolutions much later down the line.

Also I wanted to show Jessie and James were around.

Thanks for the chapter, eager to read the next one!

Same i dont like it either

I think the reason its kinda off is because anacondas constrict, they aren't venemous and so its kinda weird how it evolves from a cobra and still has a hood(which gets in the way of coiling).

If anything it should be water or water/grass type if named for backwards anaconda.

This is probably a fakemon somewhere but an evolved sunflora that is fire/grass type. Needs to have sunny day learned and faint while afflicted by a burn to evolve. Praise the sun.

Mmm, I kinda do get a Steel-type vibe, from the thick armor it's rocking.

Honestly, a Basilisk-based evo would be cool from a thematic-sense, becoming the King of Snakes, as it were.

Unfortunately, Ksilisab doesn't roll off the tongue quite so well.

People are worrying about the inclusion of Fakemon, but my initial thought was that this was Jessie and James so it's almost more likely that they're running a scam right now and they've just put their Arbok in a costume. At least before the author provided confirmation

I actually did consider this route. (And Bradley's going to ponder if that might be the case.) But I didn't want to put myself in a position where half the readership thinks I backtrack my decisions just because some reviewers don't like the fakemon inclusion.

Im fine with fakemon just as long as its bot to many. Speaking of is the mc gonna get any? Theres the Sevvii variant of the Sizzlepede line that is a Ground type.

Just read this all in one go. Great start! Stoked for him to get a Gliscor going.... I hope he managed to get a Swampert one day.... or maybe a Torterra.... they're so dope.

He needs to sneak into Sinnoh and get him a Gible already lol screw the lockdown!
