The magmortar was very quick to threaten him without any prompt from his trainer other than being sent out(it was stated that it pointed the arm cannon at both trainer and pokemon). Also the guy is a dick I'd believe that he's done this before.

You see…Sandile into Krokorok is what I call a 'weak' evolution. Only an anemic 59 point gain. Very below average. Krokorok should really just be called 'Sandile plus'. Sandile version 1.2. A Sandile that's now walking on two legs.

Olivia's other Pokémon, a Corsola, frantically fires off Bubblebeams to keep the charging crocodilian away, but K.Rool just darts and weaves past them with his new Speed like it's nothing. Letting his jaws glow with Crunch as he rushes in like the predator he is.

Good to see him finally evolve. His last couple of battles didn't seem to be going as well as they could have. He definitely was struggling against some of his opponents. Hopefully this push from his final evolution helps motivate him.

Also, like the fact that Brad commented on the fact that not all evolution are created equal. Putting in the work is important for sure, but some Pokemon definitely have an advantage.

We're not really making great time here, travel-wise.

Per the original plan, we should've been halfway through the next Route over by sundown yesterday. I've definitely allowed myself to dawdle.

But it's just that this place has been such a goldmine!

I don't know what it is, but the trainers passing through here have just been non-stop.

Ugh, I know this feeling. Reading this fic inspired me to get out my Gen 1 Pokemon Red for a play through. And it has been fun. But there comes a point where the scarcity of remaining trainers to fight against becomes a problem for the grind. All 6 of my main Pokemon are level 52 right now and we are near the endgame. It makes me appreciate the fact that Brad has managed a team with multiple pokemon over level 50. It can take quite a bit of work to assemble a team like that, I can't imagine it is any easier in-universe.

Probably why we don't see many trainers succeed at the Conference or get 8 Gym Badges. Actually catching, training, and feeding a team like that is an investment. It doesn't just happen.

I do wonder if Ma Ma's new evolution will get some people more interested in him, and give him more opportunities to battle? If he reveals her outside the Battle Tower I can imagine anyone else in residence there right now will rush out there to battle him as well. After all, how often do veteran trainers get the chance to battle against a never seen before new evolution? I can see all the trainers lining up to get a shot at facing Brad for the chance to be one of the first to fight against him and his "new" pokemon.

Thinking about it, there's going to be at least one Trainer in the Battle Tower with an Ursaring that desperately wants to evolve them now that they know it's possible and is willing to bang their head on a wall for the full week. It looks like just the thing to get out of the rut a lot of the people here are implied to be in.

Suffice to say, some farmer dudes shooting the shit about Pokemon breeding habits, and Pokemon eating other Pokemon, was nowhere near on the same level as the mind-numbing slog that happens in that game

Classic bit. What actually inspired me to write that was that I wanted to craft a scenario where Brad just cuts through the fat and shows off the Registeel he has, but then I thought "Say… instead of this just being an instant-win scenario, how can we make this go wrong?", so I just made it so that other trainers are so desperate to bypass Gym Challenge schedules, they'll use Pokemon like Ditto/Smeargle/Zorua(either form)/Zoruark(either form) to pretend to be injured, super-rare Pokemon.
It was a lot of fun writing out.

Well I guess the writer could just force it to happen, but there's no way it would actually work and would just make the story as badly written like one of those fics that have Hermione falling for canon Draco. Fireworks are going to be fun though, hell of a way to end the fic with the MC literally having his balls frozen off.

We absolutely have enough to go on to know she'd be absolutely not okay with his bullshit, she leaves the Elite Four to kick the crap out of the Rockets that went near her home. And before that in Let's Go she strikes terror in the Rockets she meets and is not gentle with them.

Also it's not White Knighting for a member of the Elite Four to be very strongly against Team Rocket who mostly steal little kids best friends and kidnap and extort people.

Bro if you work for Team Rocket you are Team Rocket, the difference is academic. It would be one thing if he was trying to like get his kid life saving medical care and Rocket was his only choice or something like that, but he was working for them just for entirely selfish reasons if convenience.

The difference is that if the local team rocket boss, whatever his name was, ask our MC to do something, the MC is under no obligation to do it. He can just say no. The only thing he's out is whatever payment he would have received for the task that is requested of him, unless they start trying the blackmail approach. If an actual team rocket member did that, the consequences would be much different.

He doesn't wear the uniform, he doesn't join in on operations, he doesn't swear loyalty. He is a subject matter expert on the subject of digging and he gets paid to do just that.

Team rocket are just criminals, they're not an apocalypse cult or anything.

These are useful examples, because those three all have very strict rules regarding gang membership. Just working with them once to provide a specialty service (like hacking) would definitely make you a criminal, but they would be extremely offended if you tried to call yourself a gang member for it.
