I remember Animorphs. I don't think I've ever seen any other fictional works handle putting limitations on a power as broken as the ability to shapeshift into any animal nearly as well as Applegate did, while still keeping it as a fully functional superpower. The yeerks were horrifying, and the aliens in the series actually felt alien, and Visser Three was so evil that it frequently looped back around into incompetence. It's a series that should have gotten more attention than it did.

ugh.

I think I'm getting sicker. I've had this cough for actual weeks now and I'm constantly congested to hell and back.

Also, exhausted. It never gets any easier y'all.

At least the price of gas has gone down a little.

I don't know if there is a nonfiction recommendation thread, but I just finished Imperial China 900-1800 and I highly recommend it. The author's digressions were more interesting than a lot of the books I've read.

I remember reading some of those books, and finding them interesting, but I have heard the quality of the individual books and plots could be all over the place because some were ghostwritten.

That said, the series ended in a really, really, stupid and nihilistic way.

That did lead to some funny bits though... like how for one book, the ghost writer was a diehard vegan who used the book as a soapbox for a poorly disguised tirade against the beef industry, and Applegate hated it so much she wrote an epilogue where the team decides to celebrate making it out of the slaughterhouse alive by going out for burgers.

heh, yeah. lol. I always thought Cassie was vegan though? Maybe I remember wrong?

>gonna be spending most of tomorrow staking out spots to set up goose blinds
I really hope this warm spell keeps up tomorrow, would fucking hate for the temp to squeal back to the -30/40 areas. Would make the whole endeavor a bitch.

Oh God , I'm coughing so much that I can't sleep.
I got dark circles under my eyes that literally look like bruises and my ribs ache from all the coughing I've done.

I feel like hammered shit.
I'm going to have to find a hospital as soon as I can drive because I'm not leaving my car in the middle of nowhere.

I'm sitting here trying to decide whether or not to try and walk through this storm to get at the water fountain and listening to the radio. Freefallin' is on right now.

I kinda want to write a parody version all about going without underwear.

Call it.. Freeballin'

Am I late or did they add a second type of spoiler?

For example: this test sentence.

I think it was always there. Looking at the BB code, it seems you either added a capital "I" (India) or a lowercase "l" (Lima) to the standard spoiler code. (That's phonetic alphabet in the brackets.) Or maybe its an Xenforo 2 addition?
Try adding other letters in place of the ones you did and see what happens.

Anyway, in other news, I finally got my SubscribeStar up and running. I had a Patreon for the longest time but they bowed to the payment processsors and changed their NSFW policy for the worst, so I left out of solidarity. Together We Stand or Divided We Fall, fellow men and women of culture.

Here's a thing you might not know; lots of sleep deprivation starts to hurt after long enough without good rest. Between the weather, my cough, and the fact that this car is just not comfortable, I've hit that point.

Useful tips in a numbered list but not in order of importance:

1 Have a place to shit handy, between gas stations, rest areas, etc this is very doable in today's world. It's also important because shitting in the woods or any other public area can get you in trouble unless you're really in the middle of nowhere.

2 Keep an eye out for cheap/free sources of protein. Most cheap or free food is gonna be starch with salt, sometimes with fat/grease thrown in. Also sugar

3 If you have gas money and room in your gas tank; fill it up! Gas money should be turned into gas asap.

4 Water fountains. Easy to overlook, but they're everywhere. A source of clean water for drinking is great.

5 Rest Areas. Y'know on interstate highways. People will leave you alone and the bathrooms and water fountains are of good quality usually. People leaving you alone is great . It's no one's home turf do everyone minds their own business. You can park and sleep there without seeming unusual too!

I'm at Disney world with the family after working for 14 hours a day for 15 days straight my family decided this was the perfect time to go on vacation. 😤 I don't mind spending the money I'm just annoyed I wasn't asked. I woke up from my first sleep that was longer than 5 hours over the last two weeks to my siblings packing bags.

Resources = depleted

Sleep = severely deprived

Coughing = constantly

Ribs = painful

Breathing = hard

I don't know what's wrong with me but I'm gonna get off the highway and get medical attention now

At the hospital getting tests. I'm so fucking thirsty right now and they won't let me have something to drink.

It's not my heart causing it, so we'll see what the tests say.

I think I forgot to eat or drink today between the normal stress of low resources and the new illness and sleep deprivation stress.

So fucking thirsty right now.

Space Dandy goes well with Transcendental Cha Cha Cha by Tom Cardy and I can't stop watching the AMV on repeat.

So they say it's bronchitis caused by an infection.

Pretty vague but I guess you don't even get what you pay for in this country so expecting quality service to a homeless person is a laughably lost cause.

Now I just need to find a shady spot to park my car and rest

Oddly enough, I have the same thing right now.

I dunno why, but I find the diagnosis of "an infection" with no other descriptors or elaboration to be… kinda offensive, in all honesty. It's an indication of not trying IMO because the presence of some kind of infection is pretty straightforward to detect. The specifics matter.

The whole diagnosis seems extremely generic to me.

Doesn't matter what it is really if it's treatable. Did they give you antibiotics?

Yes, they gave me medicine but this same problem has been reoccurring for more than a year. So I'm increasingly worried they're missing an underlying issue.
