I get why a lot of homeless people drink a lot or use drugs. The sheer fucking hopelessness and how things can fuck you out of nowhere makes it very apparent how attractive any kind of escape, relief, or even just momentary pleasure can be.
I'm not going there. If for no other reason than my relatively fragile health makes any real indulgence much more of a roll of the dice than it is for many people.

So! My car. It's my place to rest, the main way I recharge my few electronics, my transportation, and otherwise the most important thing in my life.

The heat killed my battery. Any other time this would have been enough of a disaster that, no bullshit, I'd be contemplating suicide.
However, I'd been getting just a little bit ahead, I had a reserve built up to cover stuff like insurance and phone and even gas and food. I was going to be able to start maybe getting ahead and not absolutely needing to spend most of my day panhandling.

I also seriously see why people would prefer heroin over dealing with this shit.

I've been trying to get someone to try and jumpstart me to see if that will help, but no. Not a chance.

Not one person. Even got cussed at a few times.

My battery is running down alarmingly fast now that I've exhausted the extra power source.

Try going to a mechanic on break or any blue collar kind of guy on break, maybe they'll help you out.

Right now, if it were up to me, I'd send some money your way to at least keep you floating for a bit until you get onto your feet. But paypal is giving me hell right now, and I don't have a phone number.

Kinda not an option, unfortunately. I'm leeching Wi-Fi far from any mechanic and I am literally too unhealthy to walk very far.

Good spot for Wi-Fi, bad spot for everything else. Already dehydrated and no good spot to take a shit.
No food for the last couple of days either, but I've still got "reserves" of fat, so I'm less worried about it than I am the utter lack of water.
I'm so pissed I blew all that money on getting my car fixed and now here it is; not fixed.

The headache from being dehydrated and hungry isn't overwhelmingly painful, but it is constant and is really just making everything worse.

Managed to get hydrated and eat food. Feel a lot better now. There is a grocery very close to the McDonald's I'm leeching from, so I could get stuff pretty cheap.
BOGO 3$ ham sandwiches may not be the healthiest meal, but after two days without food, they tasted like heaven.

Sadly, it also made my stomach feel weird and vaguely ache for awhile. Once my brain kicked in after being sufficiently watered I realized it was just adapting to having stuff in it again.

So! No more dehydration or hunger messing with me. Sadly, I'm still not able to get anyone to attempt to jumpstart my car.

Also, it's been hot and humid as balls today.

Lucky break; there is and external power outlet on the grocery that can be used after hours.

Of course, now everything is moist and I can't try and get a jumpstart or panhandle or anything (not that I have much luck there)

I used the rain to shave my head properly and get rid of the neck part of my beard.

Being trapped behind a McDonald's has left me with a craving for a quarter pounder meal with special sauce so intense that it could be considered sexual.

Windows were fogged up due to all the rain and moisture today, so I took advantage of that to change clothes. Kinda awkward and uncomfortable to do in a car, but needs must.

Thunderstorm level rain last night let me get more sleep than usual which probably will help.

This weather combined with a nonfunctional car is the worst.

Can't even drink the rain water.

Funnily enough, I made some chili out of it today. A big ass pot too, sprinkled some shredded cheese over it and filled my belly.
 
It was dry and not rainy once morning rolled on a bit, the interior of my car is no longer moist and uncomfortable. Lack of periodic AC to keep the air inside the car less humid takes a toll fast.
Kinda missing the taste of those super cheap hot dogs.

Either way, while I was trying and failing to accomplish anything useful today I was also contemplating two things that are very important in my current lifestyle; napkins and hunger.

Firstly, napkins. Before when I needed to clean my glasses, dry something, blow my nose, etc I had plenty of stuff available. Paper towels, regular towels, tissues, toilet paper, all kinds of options.
Now? Not so much. Now I have napkins. You can pick them up in some amounts in all kinds of places. Restaurants, grocery stores, bathrooms, gas stations, and while it's rude at minimum to take too many at one time you can still build up an excess of them if you're giving at least some effort.
I currently have a rolling stock of napkins available most of the time. Never too many at any particular moment, but enough to cover incidental spills, glasses cleaning, nose blowing and such.
Something to keep in mind. Little things like that can really add up.

The other thing I was thinking about is hunger. I haven't generally had it too bad. The longest I've gone without food since this all started was five days. But I have noticed that spending some time hungry has really given me an appreciation for just about anything I eat.
Any food I have now I tend to chew thoroughly so as to get a good feel of the flavor and texture of it. Appreciating every bite. Doesn't matter what it is. I even did this with a free bag of those sugary orange slices.
I really would love to go back and try some of those meals I just plowed through like a jackass and didn't take time to really appreciate. God do I regret the times I wolfed down steak…

Sometimes I wish I could just slip into a short term coma at will to skip over things.

I don't have the energy to do anything for long and I'm still getting nowhere with getting some help with my car or panhandling.

I got given a box of muffins, a gallon of purified water, and a tube of dill pickle Pringles today. Most successful bit of panhandling in weeks.

So.

It turns out that even going a few days without eating can't make me enjoy dill pickle flavored Pringles.
Which is fair, Pringles are fucking gross. Potato adjacent goop molded into chip shapes and baked.

I mean, I'm still eating them. I'm not stupid. Food is food. Pringles still qualify, believe it or not.

The muffins, on the other hand, are pretty good. Only four in the box so I'm making sure I'll have at least one left once I've finished choking down the Pringles.

Man, I'm wishing I could sleep a long time right now so I don't have to taste Pringle residue in my mouth. Brushing my teeth didn't get rid of the feeling.

I'm kinda horrified and amused by that simultaneously.
