Dunno about killing but diluting with relatively unfunny attempts at humour, sure, I'll walk with you that far.

It's a "joke" on par with "Yo Mama" and adding "in bed" to the end of sentences, except it's being circulated majorly by adult men instead of teens and elementary school children

It's the equivalent of "If you don't like X then you're with Y" with X being anti-sjw humor even if it is poor, and Y being SJW. It seems like people are even using it without even knowing the connotations, Markiplier used it recently even though his own beliefs seem more in line with an sjw. It has become a buzzword devoid of the previous meaning that is only used to transparantly garner more attention from the anti-sjw crowd

I have had at least one experience which I'd describe as being "triggered", inasmuch as it sent me into tears at the time as a bunch of terrible memories screamed through my consciousness and then the next day I inexplicably burst out crying again in the middle of uni and just couldn't stop. But it was a rather specific experience; specifically, being ranted at in RL by someone who'd previously abused me in the same location and very similar situation in which they'd done so. A passing comment on the Internet might elicit an angry or horrified reaction, and an element in a fictional work might (and has, in at least one case) upset me enough that I can't keep reading, but that kind of involuntary instant replay with aftershocks would be pretty hard to trigger over the Internet. At least in my case.

I know someone who has to physically leave the computer if certain words get mentioned in the chat

Quick Question, but how good is Starfox's fic "Divide and Entwined". I'm looking for things to read but the summary brings to mind a lot of the Humanity Fuck Yeah fics and I kind of hope there's a canary out there who would be kind enough to warn me if it's as bad as I really hope it isn't.

It's not bad... technology is an edge thou and could be seen as a Technology fuck yeah... but it's not an overwhelming edge and is more an out of context problem for most wizards.

Stop me if this seems out of place, but has there ever been a story about ocp magic in a modern or even sci-fi setting? (Hi everyone!)

Ya that's what I meant, its just that magic in say dnd can do quite a lot, including creating a plane of existence! And thats just one magic system, I'm no vs debator but that seem kinda significant. Instead we get Gate, I don't even want stomps just something different from the norm...

Edit: huh my post got munched there...

That one is oddly uncommon, especially on these sites.

I don't think I can think of any examples of real-world OCP-protagonist stories, perhaps because that style of story is eeldom seen outside of fanfic, and the real world has no fans. :p

But for a magical OCP antagonist in a techy world, a few things spring to mind.

I forget the name, but there was that live-action disney movie with the disney princess who finds her way into the real world somehow, followed by Prince Charming and a witch that turns into a dragon, forcing the princess to sword up and rescue her love interest. But the OCP-ness is not a theme that is really explored in that.

Probably your biggest source of these I can think of right now is the writings of H.P. Lovecraft.

Probably at least half of his books are about magic of various sorts being an OCP in our world.

I was actualy reading a thread about H.P lovecraft about two weeks ago, by Leila Hann on sv. I highly recommended it.

Also I saw a few scenes of that movie on tv (once upon a time, I believe is the name) didn't particularly like what I saw, but if given the chance ill try it again.

Since nobody checks the SFW boards and there isn't an equivalent in the NSFW PbP forum:

I'm trying to start a game of Mafia.

(Anybody interested, please reply in that thread; I'm being a bit gauche even by doing this and I'd prefer not to clutter this thread up more than necessary.)

Goddamn it's taking a long time to back up my hardrive. 5 hours so far and it's probably going to take another 2. The problem is all the pictures. 174,358 pictures to be exact.

I assume you were referring to Enchanted?

Ugh.

My one-and-a-half-year-old laptop is currently being serviced (Windows won't update due to problem with partition, bright blotches have developed on the screen). I'm typing this from my seven-year-old laptop that I replaced with the one being serviced, and am constantly being reminded of why I did so (runs slow as all hell compared to the SSD-equipped newer one, OS is critically corrupted, 2 of 3 USB ports are destroyed, battery is shot). And I'm dreading the likely response of "oh hey, we fixed it, but we had to format the C drive" - sure, I've got backups, but reinstalling everything is going to be a pain in the neck. Still, at least I bought the extended warranty, so I shouldn't be out of pocket.

(Also hoping I don't randomly get arrested when I come back to retrieve it. Not likely, but you never know.)

If you don't mind me asking why would you be arrested for retrieving your own laptop?

I probably won't.

Theoretically, however, it could tie RL-me to this identity, which opens me up to being arrested for possessing and/or producing child pornography. Because the test for whether something is child pornography, in Australia, is "are there depictions of under-18s or apparent under-18s having sex?", explicitly including fictional children (cutoff might be 16, I forget). I wrote Bad Hair Day (link in sig), a Madoka Magica fanfic in which Madoka (who's at most 14) rapes Mami (who's at most 15). A possession case about a text work has gone to court; the guy got acquitted, which makes me suspect I'd also get off with a decent lawyer, but that doesn't mean I couldn't be arrested. Possession... well, I've also admitted to playing School Days and Saya no Uta, which almost certainly would stand up in court as child porn (people have been convicted on the basis of loli hentai, and both contain some).

Now, I don't regret those actions, and I'd rather go to jail than censor myself. That doesn't mean I want to get arrested.

Ah I see, good luck to you then.

Theoretically, yes. In practice, the employee(s) fixing your computer aren't being payed enough to care, and their employer wouldn't exactly encourage it too much since that kind of thing damages their reputation for confidentiality of any data entrusted to them.

As I said, I probably won't.

That said, I will say that I envied Shinji his single parent. At least earning Gendo's approval is possible.
Holy shit! Ouch, man. On SV, this is where I'd give a Hugs rating.
Well, academically, it was possible. It would merely have required me being in the top 4 rather than top 20 in the country in competitions against people two to three years older than me, and that I be in the top 0.05% of the country in year 12 (while emotionally reeling from running away from home - i.e. her - in year 11, my dad dying in year 12, and still being a year young) instead of 96th percentile.

At home, however, it required that I not have autism or a Y chromosome.

So I've been watching the Hannibal TV series on Amazon and it's really making me want to take some cooking classes.
