• A notice about Rule 3 regarding sites hosting pirated/unauthorized content has been made. Please see here for details.
  • Staff is working to deal with the problem of synonymous tags. See here for more information and to suggest tag mergers.
  • Due to issues with external spam filters, QQ is currently unable to send any mail to Microsoft E-mail addresses. This includes any account at live.com, hotmail.com or msn.com. Signing up to the forum with one of these addresses will result in your verification E-mail never arriving. For best results, please use a different E-mail provider for your QQ address.
  • For prospective new members, a word of warning: don't use common names like Dennis, Simon, or Kenny if you decide to create an account. Spammers have used them all before you and gotten those names flagged in the anti-spam databases. Your account registration will be rejected because of it.
  • Since it has happened MULTIPLE times now, I want to be very clear about this. You do not get to abandon an account and create a new one. You do not get to pass an account to someone else and create a new one. If you do so anyway, you will be banned for creating sockpuppets.
  • Due to the actions of particularly persistent spammers and trolls, we will be banning disposable email addresses from today onward.
Using your example, if someone got into DMC because they liked that show, I don't want them in the same community as me; I don't much like sharing the same air with them, to be honest. Fake fans don't improve the community's health, they're a cancer only slightly less terminal than malicious idiot owners. I don't think HtP fans are anywhere near that bad, but they are already producing a deluge of people who think they're experts on a setting they've come into with a number of false impressions about. If they want to play HtP themed games amongst themselves, write HtP fanfics, or what have you, more power to them, but when they come in and start being authoritatively incorrect to tables playing real canon or their own bespoke tablecanon, then it can and does create issues.

I'm sure plenty of them will go on to educate themselves about their new interest, learn the proper lore, and become worthwhile members of the community; however, I've already seen many that display no interest in actually integrating and want to force the setting to comply to their misimpressions rather than appreciating it for what it is. Not the worst I've seen, but it could easily be partially alleviated (nothing is ever truly idiot proof) by adding a simple blurb to that dark pact splash screen more clearly explaining the show's lore is based heavily on headcanon rather than itself merely not being a canon product (there is a difference; every session anyone's played is noncanon, but they could be canon-compliant or noncanon-compliant on a case by case basis, and the current splash screen does not make this difference clear).
It wouldn't change shit the people you are talking about wouldn't even read the damn thing I literally deal with this shit all day. I have a big ass sign that says we don't provide this service. People still look at and ask do you do this?

Edit to simplify my post.
