interesting turns this is taking!
I think everyone agreed the Lost was better than the Dreaming when it came to changelings
Lost does indeed seem better. Dreaming is somehow too... incoherent? Too much and not well organized. The chimerical/wyrd power divide are also putting a damper on use of cantrips. Not to mention the whole Realms mechanic.
I actually liked Dark Ages Fae better. Most of it is much more streamlined. you get 3 types of fae, 5 groups to belong to. 4 list of cantrips. Done. The only issue is there being so few Dark Ages Fae books XD
I also think Dark Ages Fae is also better for crossovers within WoD or outside it. In-WoD mostly because you can skedadle out of trouble easily enough. Probably most mobile splat. Even werewolves are mostly limited by their 4 legs or fixed Moon Bridges. A fae can open space-compressing enchanted road at any Dominion 2 to anywhere they have ever been.
For out-of-universe crossovers... they are just fun, being so different from current/modern standard.
BTW, is there a separate WoD crossovers thread?
And then there's 5th and '5th' editions. Which routinely pisses on oWoD lore but includes stripped down nWoD mechanics so it's... a thing, yeah.
they are an abomination and should not be brought up in a polite company XD
The Apocalypse or Forsaken Tribes?
The Pure XD
I think my only issue with the werewolf tribes on owod was that they were just…..so specific. "What if these werewolves were all irish?", "what if they were all Eastern Europeans", "what if they were just native Americans?"
Well... I don't see an issue with that, as they would have been geographically constrained and taking on culture of local humans. Add to that the general insular conservativeness of werewolves and you get Tribes.
What actually gets to me more is the weird distribution. Like Irish or Scandinavian werewolves make their own tribe? And whole of Eastern Europeans or Native Americans also make 1 tribe? How would that even work? You are comparing a small country with a continent or culture.
Would have been better to keep it continental or cultural. Like North European, Roman/Mediterranean, East European, North American. Red Talons shouldn't be a thing at all, as wolves wouldn't organize like that.
Or maybe just keep werewolves only European? Fera should take the rest of locations. You do not need to shoehorn werewoves into Egypt and Subsaharan Africa.
