It doesn't matter that the threat aren't Raptures, the people of the Ark and Eden are still here and now part of the Last City, so they will protect it to their last breath



Doro may as well confess to feeling jealous, though. She wasn't a narcissist before, but the Guardians actively got the recognition and remembrance of the people they swore to protect and wouldn't be abandoned either.

Crow kinda has no fucking clue what to do now.

Her trying to bait Shaxx was more an excuse to find familiar ground and validate her own nihilistic ideals. Since that failed, she's back to the drawing board.

I like to imagine that by the end of this story, she'll be hiding in a home because all the kindness she is shown is physically painful to her.

Lucas glanced at the heap before him. "I should probably have told you what was about to happen."

"Yes," admitted Maxwell, "you should have."

The de-facto leader of Matis was currently lying on the ground, groaning, alongside Moran, Viper, Sakura, Maiden, D, Privaty, and Guilty, who were all twitching and moaning in pain. Rosanna and Harran, meanwhile, were desperately trying to pry Shaxx's hands off their throats, the Titan quite literally standing atop the forms of the Nikkes that he had broken.

"So, will further violence outside the Crucible be a problem?" asked the Lord of War.

Various cries of 'no, nope, naddah, and no sir' filled the air, after which Shaxx stepped off his defeated foes and let Rosanna and Harran slip out of his hands. "Excellent! Now let us commence with the Crucible!"

The defeated Nikkes hastily returned to the sides of the leaders, all of whom had looks of complete befuddlement. "How did…he even…do that?" questioned Mustang, glasses sagging just enough to show the shocked look in his eyes. Said look was shared by Ingrid, Syuen, Andersen, Johan, and Samantha, all of whom could not comprehend how the Lord of War had defeated their subordinates seemingly on skill and strength alone.

Lucas couldn't help laughing lightly at this, even as he offered a hand to Maxwell. "Shaxx has faced some pretty crazy things in the past. Even with all we've faced, I don't think any number of raptures would put you on the level needed to best him."

"What kind of monsters has he slain? A twisted ocean god that sought to flood the land?" asked Guillotine as she helped Maiden to her feet.

"No, but I have bested shapeshifting dragons that grant wishes while feeding upon the fabric of reality itself," answered the Titan.

Extrinsic froze up for a moment, before immediately focusing on the Lord of War. "Really?!"

"Yes. Though I don't quite remember where the armor we made from its bones is. I believe Lucas has a weapon he made from the bones of an Ahamkara he slew, however."

As soon as Shaxx finished his remark, Lucas turned to glance at his ghost. Eunwha, however, was less convinced. "Really? You expect us to believe such fanciful tales?"

"It happened."

"And where is the proof of that?"

"Here," replied Lucas. Instantly, all eyes fell upon him – more specifically, on the strange, bony weapon in his hands.

"…What is that?" asked Eunwha.

"One Thousand Voices," was the ghost's reply. "A heavy fusion rifle – think of it as a railgun – assembled from the bones of the last Ahamkara known to exist in the inner solar system."

Eunwha glanced at the weapon, still not entirely convinced. Maiden and Guillotine, however, could only watch in open-mouthed shock, eyes shining at the implications of what Shaxx and Lucas had said.

Any further discussion was cut off by Shaxx clearing this throat. "As enjoyable as this conversation is, the Crucible waits for no one. So, Young Wolf, are you and your companion ready to begin your training."

"I'm always ready," answered Lucas. "What about you, Rapi?"

"Ready to commence the operation," answered the red and black Nikke.

"Excellent. But first, I need to give you something."

Before Lucas could inquire what he meant, Shaxx summoned a sword into his hands and offered it to the Young Wolf. "I believe this belongs to you."

Lucas stared in shock for a moment, then grabbed the sword and attached it to his armor."

"Swift as always. Now join up with your team, and we can commence the match."

The two nodded, and within moments vanished. The Nikkes could help jumping at the sight, even if they had already been informed about and witnessed transmats. A pair of ships soon soared overhead – an Arcadian Jumpship and an Enneagon – which quickly surged toward the center of the city.

Moments later, the gathered Nikke crowd found themselves disappearing – it was time to see how Guardians fought each other.

And that tended to descend into mayhem rather quickly.

"I feel so dizzy," said a disoriented Snow White as she sat down. Red Hood was gently helping her get settled in, while the rest of the group did much of the same.

"So, what's this gonna be?" asked Milk. "Some kind of capture the flag? Take and hold points? Just kill each other?"

"Not quite," said Shaxx over the intercoms – this fight was being broadcasted to the entire city, so that all the new arrivals could witness the power of the Guardians. "Today we'll be hosting a special match to welcome one of our newest Risen, and one of the first from the Ark and Eden. These new arrivals were brought to the Last City by none other than Saladin's Young Wolf, Hero of the Red War, Cursebreaker, Riven's Bane, Harbinger, Blacksmith, Reckoner, Savior of Europa, and many more titles."

Dorothy's eye twitched. "He certainly has…a lot of titles."

"We now," said Anis. "And he is not getting any alone time until he tells us all of them!"

"Now, for our newest Light, I think it's best if she gets a chance to explore her new powers to the fullest. So today, the name of the game is Mayhem."

"Sounds hectic," said Yulha.

"It can be."

The view screens nearest to the Nikke group finally revealed the location of the match – Midtown, Last City. "Mayhem is many things – a test of our understanding of the Light, a measure of our powers, and proof of devotion to our studies."

Now the screens showed several ships flying overhead, from whom Lucas, Rapi, and a total of ten other guardians were transmatted in, forming two teams of six, all ready to fight.

A few Nikkes turned their attention to Snow White for a moment when the latter was given a delivery by a frame. Though no one could see what was inside the box she received, the Nikke must have loved it, seeing how she had stars in her eyes.

"But most of all, mayhem is a coming together among friends. So do as friends do…"

Instantly, the teams readied to charge…

"…AND INCINERATE EACH OTHER WITH YOUR LIGHT!"

As soon as Shaxx shouted out his command, Rapi charged forward, darting in and out of cover, searching for foes. She found one not too long after – a hunter guardian wielding a bow. Before he could react, Rapi put her recent training to work, focusing the Light in her hand and throwing forth a flashbang grenade. Blinded by the impact, the Hunter recoiled, giving her an opening to close the distance. Charging the Light in her other hand, Rapi formed a fist and punched. The Hunter soared through the air, sparking corpse fading into nothing.

"It seems one of our Newest Lights has scored the first kill of the match. But how long will she last?"

Eunwha, Vesti, and Emma stared, slack jawed, as Rapi's first kill in the match vanished from existence, leaving behind only a ghost to mark where they fell. Moments later, she found herself staring down a trio of opponents, one of whom fired off a set of burning throwing knives at her. Hastily zipping behind cover, Rapi dodged the attack, before throwing out a hand and creating a barrier that blocked a follow up hail of bullets. Two bursts from Militaria later, and the knife thrower had fallen.

Ingrid couldn't really keep the shock off her face either. "Wow, that's…new."

"New?" asked a confused Delta.

"I'm…not sure what to say."

"Hey, look at Lucas!" Shouted Guillotine.

All eyes fell upon the Commander, who had pulled out a staff of ice and started freezing his foes.

With a firm punch, Lucas shattered the familiar form of Thistle-5, scoring another point for his team. He then turned to engage an oncoming Stormcaller, only for a trio of Golden Gun shots to take out his foe. Making a quick gesture of respect to Cheyanne, he hastily ducked under another flurry of bullets before opening a rift and releasing a Bleak Watcher, which soon froze his foe into an easy target. His luck finally seemed to run out, though, when a trio of enemy guardians charged toward him following a poorly done reload. Just before they could fire at him, though, a blur of red filled the air, followed by the crackle of Arc energy, after which the opposing guardians were reduced to slowly disintegrating corpses.

Standing in the middle of their ashes was Rapi, a slight blush on her face as she stared at the Arc energy surging through her fist.

"Ah, it looks like our newest Light, Rapi, has finally unleashed the Fist of Havoc! RELISH IN ITS FURY!"

The gathered Nikkes and personnel from both the Ark and Eden blinked in shock at seeing the super doing its job, with the entirety of Absolute taking a moment to glance between one another in shock. They weren't the first to speak about it, though.

"…That was awesome!" shouted Clay.

"It was pretty cool," agreed Milk.

Neon watched the fighting for a little longer, trying hard not to salivate over all the firepower being unleashed, before turning to glance at Anis, Red Hood, and Marian. "I didn't think Rapi would do so much punching."

"Me neither. Guess it was just her luck to end up the strongest."

"Her powers do have a…unique beauty to them," said Cinderella, still covered in very concealing clothing, multiple water bottles resting empty beside her. Grave was already offering another to her squadmate and adoptive daughter, while trying to angle a parasol such that official Old Tales Nikke was getting as much shade as possible.

Replacing the spent magazine from No Time To Explain, Lucas ducked under a throwing knife and answered the attack with Penumbral Blast, followed by another burs from the pulse rifle to finish off his foe. The crashing of a hammer had him turning on a dime, only to witness the oncoming Titan getting blown away by a missile. Turning toward the source of smoke trail, he found an embarrassed looking Rapi giving him a nervous smile, before suddenly flinching and covering her ear. Said flinch revealed an enemy Hunter behind her, to which the Young Wolf responded by pulling out Ruinous Effigy and vaporizing the foe before they could react.

"I CAN'T BELIEVE THAT!...I don't think any Guardian has ever done that well on their first run of the Crucible. Bravo!"

Ingrid glanced at one of the guardians sitting near the assembly of Ark and Eden personnel. "What did he mean by that? I know Rapi's doing well, but I've gotten a bit lost watching the match."

"What's it to you?"

"I taught her some of her skills."

"Oh, nice. Since you're asking, she just got fifty kills, and hasn't died once."

Despite the ongoing raucous from the match, it wasn't too hard t hear the minds of all the new arrivals – especially those of Elysion – shattering. "…Oh."

"Rapi is doing…really well," noted Vesti.

Emma could only nod, while Eunwha had decided to get into an argument with Laplace over who had trained the latter better.

"So, how long do you think it will be until the match ends?"

"Well," answered Lucas, "we're leading by twenty points, so I'd say a minute?"

"Not if I have a say, Lucas."

Glancing behind them, the duo found a female hunter staring at them…about to throw a javelin of lightning.

"…Oh, son of a bit-"

"Enemies can't kill if they're dead!"

The gathered extra-universal crowd could only stared wide eyed as the hunter spear brought Rapi and Lucas' streaks to an end. When the two were blasted with a Nova Bomb shortly after reviving, though, the shock gave way to rage.

"Knock their teeth in!" shouted Anis.

"Unleash all your firepower!"

"You've seen the worst of the Ark," added Crow, "show us where that's lead you."

"Show them what it means to be part of Absolute," said Eunwha, much to the shock of Vesti and Emma.

"A hero never backs down!"

"Let them bathe in your beauty."

"Go Rabbity and Miss Rapi!"

Snow White said something as well, but between the soda-drink hat on her head and the two drumsticks she was eating, it was rather muffled.

Sensing a shift in the wind, Lucas ducked just in time to avoid a slash from Tenea. "You certainly enjoy using Quickfang."

"It's my style. Got you once with a spear, then with a bow. So why not with a sword?"

She punctuated that with another swing, only to find the blow blocked by Raze Lighter. "Well, sorry for you, but one of those girls I met in the Vex Network also knows how to use this kind of sword. So forgive me for thinking I can take you on."

"Good luck."

The duel that followed had the pair striking, blocking, evading and parrying with grace and power unseen to most Nikkes. Clay and Milk, in particular, looked impressed to see how deftly Lucas fought in close range, as did Pioneer.

Speaking of Pioneer..

"Scarlet?"

"Yes, Snow White?"

"Are you okay?"

"Thou needn't worry. I am merely enjoying the spectacle before us."

"…You know you're drooling, right?"

"..eh?"

"Rapunzel is giving you funny looks."

A quick glance proved that yes, the priestly medic of Pioneer (who also had a raging libido that left her conflicted at times) was giving Scarlet a questioning look.

"…Er, this is a very interesting duel."

"Sure."

The fight went on for almost a minute, until Tenea mistimed a duck. Seizing his chance, Lucas shoulder charged her, struck her with the hilt of his blade, followed with a half swording move while she was dazed, then finished by running her through. As Tenea feebly tried to strike him before her consciousness faded, he delivered the coup-de-grace and slammed the hilt of the weapon into her.

Only then did he notice her team surging toward him, supers at the ready.

"Commander, duck."

Lucas hit the deck just as Rapi surged forward.

"Time to show you what Laplace taught me."

The opposing team had just enough time to realize they were doomed before the Thundercrash hit them.

"YYEEEESSSSS! Victory to Red Team!"

The entire crowd stared, slack jawed, at Rapi's winning move. Even Laplace and Eunwha had paused their fight to gape. Mustang was trying to push his sunglasses back to where they belonged, Ingrid was beaming with pride, while Syuen's eyes had shrunken to needle points, as had the eyes of the Heretics Indivilia and Nihilister, and the eyes of Samantha.

They did not shake out of their shock when Shaxx announced that the next round was about to start.

AN: Crazy match, am I right?

From the get-go, I wanted it to be Mayhem – that's the best way to show off the might of the Guardians.

Tenea (full name Tenea Cash) is an Awoken Hunter, and the one who broke Lucas and Rapi's streaks with her Super.

I was going to include a few more of Lucas' titles, but they didn't flow right off the tongue, so they were left behind.

Rapi doing so well comes down to a mix of having some of Red Hood's power left from when they split, everything Ingrid taught her, and the lack of memory wipe due to quirks on both her part and the part of her ghost resulting in her retaining all of her combat experience, plus some training the previous day to get acclimated to her new physique. She won't do as well in the next few rounds (which will be handled offscreen) as the other team will have adapted by then.

I'm assuming by this point that Shaxx made a medal for the "We Ran Out Of Metals" achievement in Crucible for getting an unbroken fifty-kill streak.

TBH, whilst I am still playing Destiny 1, I am also watching the collection of cutscenes and cinematics

If she finds out too that Mithraxx was a brutal warlord and pirate and they're letting him into the city, too? Probably even further disturbed, to see him change for the better

Frankly, I don't think that Main Story Crow even cared about the people of the Outer Rim, either

As for the current cash issue with the Ark's people?

I think their credits may not have even been a proper cryptocurrency, just a CBDC, even then, mostly valued based on Ark infrastructure/Economy

Destiny's Earth may have once used something like it, but tied to gold, before Glimmer became a thing more valued

Monsters for longer than human lifespans, turn a new leaf after so long of committing unspeakable horrors

Saint-14 mentioning the Fallen eating children should make people think what those teeth can tear into

Four arms and a taller and larger physique, would have made the Eliksini quite the bigger danger if both them and humans were unarmed or were armed with just primitive weaponry

Prejudice built by sheer combined experience, can really further color one's views

The House of Light are an attempted return to how they once were before their fall, they actively worked for it and vice versa. Probably gonna be more "human" in terms of culture.

Though if my guess is right, even resident human civilization doesn't have much of a culture or even varying degrees of "culture clash" like sheer differences in social values, social taboos, family structure and justice systems anymore

She's in the virus, or at least her personality is, course that might be the Queen instead. If they're feeling like making the effort, extracting Red Shoes from it, in order to kill her again. Is a possibility.

Though, I wouldn't put off Red Shoes' corruption possessing multiple NIKKE and those transforming into Red Shoes. Think of what Ingrid said about how she thought a strong enough ego and memory could transform a NIKKE into another.

Frankly, it sounds like Frank Herbert's DUNE. Even if the Soul doesn't exist, the memory/personality can persist through space and time via sheer genetic memory.

Can they get Glimmer by deconstructing weapons and armor like in Destiny 1? Or is a Ghost needed for that? Can anything be turned into Glimmer? Even weapons from outside Destiny's universe?

The way Glimmer sounds, it looks to be something that would significantly reduce physical labor and even better, reduce the need for large amounts of infrastructure to create and maintain high technology

This SIVA sounds like a souped up version of it, since it was used to build cities

Inflation sort of gets handled, when it's used to build stuff for longterm and presumably becomes less when Deconstructed. Sorta….so wait, how's pure glimmer made?

In NIKKE, though not fully explored, they have those Harmony Cubes as well, which was how the Ark was built. Though, they apparently still needed Engineers like Liter who used to be an old lady even before The Ark was made

Cinderella will not give up fighting. And frankly, your suggestion comes off as insulting to her character.

The four beasts are wherever they normally hang out (Crystal Region for Behemoth), and I'll bring them in when I am ready. Liberalio is somewhere unknown right now.

Chatterbox and the Heretics are under Marian's orders to not harm the Last City. They can't disobey her even if they want to.
