Governor's Gambit - Star Wars SI into Imperial Governor

Next up: upgrades to the saber tank and a heavy tank replacement. Also, Mechassault/Titanfall mechs. Perhaps some orbital defense stations instead of just fleet assets?
Plz no mechs, i really dont feel like they fit the starwars theme cuz once mechs are unlocked then what reason is there for all the iconic starwars stuff, basically turns star wars into a clone of whatever mecha media you sourced the mechas from, im her for starwars not gundam 2.0 or etc
Kek also thinking about it rolling out new armor for his troops is likely to earn even more loyalty since the govenor clearly cares about thier safety and well being

Why would the Rebels care what some Imperial governor wants?
Cause attention on the governor is attention on the system, attention on the system where one of their really important and rare repair and refit facilities is operating undercover as an official government backed one and therefore protected as long as nobody looks too hard.

If you want to sink money into vanity projects to hide how much profit you make? Fund it all and tell them it was necessary for the development of Minda.

If you actually want it to work and be a functioning and effective military asset? then I would say less is more. There's too many specialized projects going on with too much overlap in strategic viability. If you truly want to make it "effective" then make a generalized and modular system with cross-compatible modules and parts.

- Choose one infantry mech and optimize it for ruggedization and modularity so it can be deployed for a multitude of scenarios and fixed easily.
- Choose one personnel PowerArmor and focus on the core system like strength, durability, and mobility and have other features such as surveying, armaments, and utility as modules or parts they can swap out.
- If you want to play out your gundam fantasies, focus on making sure it can survive shots from turbo lasers and shipfire.
-Make all of these systems compatible with Imperial standard parts to take advantage of Imperial logistics. It doesn't have to be all imperial standard, but having even portions be able to be replaced with Imperial parts would make for more easily fixed damage and smoother upkeep and maintenance.

If your Inner Circle want to feel special, have the R&D make up special suits and mechs for them but overall it should be an entire ecosystem of platforms and parts able to be swapped around for mission specific loadouts.

Awesome chapter.
The older (totally not) couple looked at each other and gave a small chuckle.
You know, now I am having the image of the the crew going to Minda, ended up celebrating after something big; and then our favorite couple wake up after a drunk night discovering they are married.
Which the SI officiated personally.

So you can imagine my annoyance when they go and manage to create a variety of new, possibly viable prototypes. Not of TIE fighters, but instead of armor!

At first, I was ecstatic. A new production line to toss money into. But then, I was informed of the project's scope. While not cheap, the production could all be done in the labs themselves, as these were limited in number.

Meaning that the techs had made viable suits of armor for the Mindan elite that weren't going to eat up a massive amount of money, and would make us look way more advanced.

Fuck.
They are able to do it successfully because you actually treat them like decent people, don't threaten their families, embezzled from the budget and said budget is not suddenly cut to fund a giant grey ball.

Mandos Basilisk - great power, great mobility

Just a point of view.

Artillery is suppose to fire one from each tube, what if the wires had been crossed and fired from the same tube. The propellant from one likely ignited the other on the same side, when it launched, which caused the whole lot of them to explode. As for that Vader engineer that's a decent idea.

Those are in universe tho, im just afraid itl end up with oh we have gundams now we dont need anything else and then its basically just gundam 2.0 substituting gundams for whatevers mechas get added
Well they have AT, but their leg movement is kinda shit.
Plus, most important fight happens in cosmos, so they dont pay too much attention to ground forces. Also force sensitive are kinda dangerous for anything in melee

I think that all of these are a bit much for Star Wars generally. Doubly so as power armor instead of war droids.

Also, full body energy shields on the scale of the typical humanoid are explicitly VERY HARD without frying whatevers inside with hard radiation. That's why you don't see people walking around with droideka bubbles.

Chp-21: Ripples and Explosions

Now, onto speculation. These mecha designs are borne of the skunkworks crackheads in the R&D team, and are not finished products. Whether or not they will be very effective is debatable, so I leave it up to you. Would these mecha and exo suits be effective for combat? Would they be useful for Las's position specifically? Are there any other designs you think would work better in their place? Please, let me know.

Of course, I have to toss some credit in the direction of ArtStation. Sure, I gave direct links so you can take a peek at the artists themselves, but I feel like I have to give a little shoutout. The sheer dedication and skill that is shown off over there is so impressive I'm honestly torn between being jealous that my little perspective box drawing practices don't look like that, and an ambition to get there one day. Incredibly skilled people doing awesome stuff. Lotta sci-fi to. Love it.

Thanks for reading!

Walkers are a highly used vehicle platform over tracked and more importantly, repulsorlift vehicles. Primarily due to the way shield domes work planetary shields or just base shields are crippling on repulsorlift technology and there are natural phenomenon and a weaponized repulsorlift jamming building to either outright disable or render speeds to slower than walking speed. This makes mechs which are always considered less viable than tracked tanks possibly viable as tracked tanks suffer horribly from mines in star wars which is why they maade AT-ATs so tall after even AT-TEs got crippled. So if they can justify the maintenance with mechs that have a multiple point of failure issue in real life or at least serve sufficient utility due to the other combat technology designs adapt to in star wars it could make at least a limited run. Although i think a lot of technologies in star wars fall out of favor due to high maintenance issues which are more important due to galactic logistics and a galaxy used to ships so repairable and long lasting they have ship designs lasting for centuries or millenia. So limited run that serves as governor's pet project and bodyguard units? Makes enough sense and local system deployment where replacement parts can be made for them. Wide adoption? Doubtful. However i offer a close legends example of mechs which got specific attention by rebels to destroy in the cradle which may inspire i hope whatever mechs you use

I do highly recommend looking up any and all dark trooper information you can find however, as in legends they were not just droids. The mark III was a mech that had a droid brain capable off independent operations if needed. (I have heard of varients that are. Pure droid which may just be Disney stuff and heard of pure mech suits for the uber elite soldiers of the empire to use but something i see you potentially introducing early as the dark trooper project did not get budget funds it needed until after the battle of Yavin and the death Star destruction to my memory.)A video game has kyle Katarn destroy the sole manufacturing location of them along with their inventor. In a highly classified RnD manufacturing ship. In the game Empire at war we can use that manufacturing ship to build the mark 1-3 dark troopers that cemented them and their aesthetic style too me which makes me wish your image references used more. As the mark 2-3 have a storm trooper/ clone trooper influenced visual look while still being obviously taller and bigger than stormtroopers with mark twos at like 8 feet and mark 3 at i think 12-15 feet tall. So imagine the size of a Warhammer 40k space marine but black stormtrooper aesthetic and is a mech with a normal human in there somewhere, missiles in The shoulders that can lift up shoulder pad armor to fire and destroy heavy armored targets, wrist blasters that can chew through infantry and light vehicles with ease and can theoretically carry big weapons otherwise mounted on vehicles . Like the large minigun inspired repeaters the Mark 2s used since they lacked the missiles and still mowed down everything but the heavyweight targets like am AT-AT . And both mark 2 and 3 had jump packs that offered Major battlefield mobility. Although in game they seemed more like jetpacks for rapid movement across the field but not aeriel combat. Heres a link to some information but i recommend looking at empire at war footage or something in addition since i don't feel like it really gives the feel and knowledge of it the same

If Las does get the lucrehulk he can fix it up or refit it into a carrier turn the cargo bays into hangers and slap as much aa or anti-fighter guns on it as he can maybe get some factory's for fighters or bombers. Or just turn it into a full on mobile shipyard.
Probably the shipyard route just so he can refit his larger warships in-system and doesn't need to hire a professional shipyard at great expense for the larger refits and maintenance needed for them.
You guys seem to be forgetting that, that is a horrible idea, in both legends and in Disney the CIS WERE HATED post clone wars, having one of their ships is going to be something local imperials look into, if we however use the broken off sections in a asteroid fort/station/school and eventually build over these sections then I'd probably be fine.

Also, while reading this chapter I came up with a Tie upgrade that's literally just a upgrade with low cost, I call them the Trie-fighter and the Tie-Vulture, they are still both manned craft, but include the droid brains of either a Tri-fighter or a Vulture, these droid brains can do power management(full power to shields or blasters), emergency flight maneuvers(dodge missiles and blaster shot if their pilots miss them), tactical flight planning to help pilots win dogfights, auto-piloting to give pilots time to rest, and many more.

True, i prefer the AT-XT over the At-st, virtually the same except the At-Xt has a plasma shield to increase its survival chancesand doesnt have the at-st leg design
I'll point out that the AT-XT was just a testing ground for different walkers, it was the testing ground for the AT-RT,AT-PT,AT-ST, etc. it was never meant to go into widespread production, not only was its cost exponentially high, but it was glitchy/faulty to a dangerous degree because of the variety of different systems that were shoved into it.

Honestly if you want mechs dust off AT-XT its effectively a shielded AT-ST and doesnt require ridiculous rd and specalised production facilities, plus creating mechas would draw all kinds of unwanted attention while AT-XT might get some raised brows but ultimatly dismissed

I believe they are light mech or super heavy Infantry seeing he said that they were smaller that titans from titanfall so maybe around the size of reapers from titanfall and those are about 9 feet tall half the size of a regular titan which is about 17 to 18 feet tall

Do you have a source on the AT-XT Faults? as i recall it was considered an excellent and highly effective vehicle/walker cost not withstanding which may be a bonus for Las considering hes looking for money sinks, not trying to be sarcastic either. And regarding the Lucrehulk the outer rim was considerably more Laises faire regarding cis material and i somewhat doubt the local admiral or moff can be bothered to investigate a single lucrehulk being used by a backwater governor especially after it was siezed from pirates at least that was the impression i got from the chapters so far, the admiral is more concernned with advancing his interest and the moff is busy drowning himself in vices

Mech have been in star wars the definition of mech in star wars is anything that walks at-te, at-rt, at-ap, at-at, or at-st these are all mechs which then fall into the the narrower mech definition of walkers. Plus in both canon and legends there is comics that have mechs fighting both people and other mechs https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Open-Closed_War

Im really only opposed to bringing in like super gundams and Armored cores etc, such stuff that invalidates so much of what makes star wars star wars, i have no issues with stuff that is confirmed in universe

Darth-Vader-Goes-Podracing-After-Empire-Strikes-Back-(Yes-Really)-Featured.jpg
Remember Kids, the difference between being a Villain racer and a Supervillain Pod Racer is Presentation.

~Lord Vader Pod racing published as a Comic in ABY 1 (during / after Empire Strikes Back in Legends continuity).

This popularized comics strip, included in a special edition of the Metal Head magazine, was published by the Minda Comics Book Emporium in ABY 1. Per the official history, Lord Vader took a sabbatical to Minda to update his cybernetic suit after the introduction of the Minda Engineer PDA. While there he joined several Engineering teams and is credited with assisting in the development of a wide range of technology that would be placed in production in the coming years.

This comic was published in honor of his work on the pod racer that was a joint project by several of the departments as a hobby project. When Lord Vader learned of the project, he was interested in what the engineers had planned. After some meetings which were not recorded and several visits of the engineers to the local nurse office for bruises. Lord Vader transferred the project under his Aegis and after spending 9 months of work and several million credits created the finest pod racer in existence. Upon its initial introduction, Lord Vader drove his creation and broke several records in the Bonta Eve Classic including being the second human to complete said race but with a much faster time than Anakin Skywalker. Other records set include first recorded use of a lightsaber in the races. Said pod racer (vehicle, Lord Vader sadly passed in his sleep to much sadness by his devoted fanbase and family in ABY, REDACTED - by order of Imperial Archivists) would hold this title for over 750 years with limited upgrades in its design.

Later in this program local Tato systems pilot Luke Skywalker (son of Anakin Skywalker) will be joining us in a special remote interview where he reminisces on his joining of the Core pod racer circuit in ABY 1 and his rivalry with Lord Vader on the circuit.

Joining us tonight to discuss the impact that Lord Vader had on the re-popularization of pod racing in the Imperial hierarchy is famed sports commentator…

Chp-21: Ripples and Explosions

My thoughts on it. Since he can not justify building them. For a market. He can be commercially forward aggressive. Build the factory lines. With the machinery.
R and d will continue to work on the projects. They will need to make the suits. However each time the r and d makes an adjustment. The factories get the latest data and mimic the new adjustments. It will be a waste of money while the r and d keeps making minute adjustments. Do this over several lines while waiting for the r and d to be satisfied. Then make enough for internal use and sit on it.

For example being aggressive for the last mech/artillery mech that was for the most part finished until that failure. Well i bet that he could absorb quite a lot of money making constant adjustments. Set it as policy for when a project the r and d labs come up with to get a factory if it considered feasible. Say 80% with factories mimicking adjustments for the last 20%. Absorbs a lot of income. You could say the factory will be up to date to the very last change made. And they could make reliable equipment within hours of a peice of equipment being certified as good for use. The certification can be something else that absorbs money.

Chp-21: Ripples and Explosions second thought.
You had a goofy tie fighter mech. What if you had r and d do something weird like. Four person tie fighter spider mech for all terrain sports. For teens. It would be so stupid. A waste of money that. It could loop around to popular. At the same time. Pouring money into the youth is always a money sink. It would be similar to when i grew up doing cart racing. Very expensive. And all it does is entertain families. Sponsor quite a few race league using a mech with to many legs. A body that just looks like a oversized tie fighter. Make it your mech a staple. That when it breaks the teens hop out and have to fix in all kinds of situations.

I see the Force is hard at work, giving Luke an Engineering version of the PDA?

Given Anakins affinity for tech, that Luke also inherited, can't wait to see what he'll come up with.

....Omeke potential: Vader get his hands on the Engineering PDA....
Imagine if Luke just shows up to Minda looking for a job in the R&D department lmao
