Loki: The God of Magic

Surprised the MC did not seemingly become visibly stronger or gain anything major from devouring another Celestial...

Normally I don't like time travel because lots of people try to manipulate events or calculate butterfly effects and ect. However I love this do whatever you want aproche.
Did he absorb the new celestial?
Yes he did. As for the time travel, the Celestials rarely make an appearance. Arishem is the only one who interacts with any characters in the MCU that we have seen so far, and of course, the one that used the Power Stone. I don't want to give spoilers yet but all this timey wimey shenanigans will be explained in the future. This Celestial's death doesn't do much to affect the timeline, because in the end, they rarely interact with the canon narrative. So while things might change in the cosmic scale, it is not going to effect Earth, which was what worried Yao at the time.

when is Loki going to figure out the TVA wiped his past life memories?? is he going to read the memories of his infant self?

Don't enjoy the time travel would have preferred some sort of past viewing magic instead. The time travel felt too simple and should have at least required the time stone to pull off.

Asgard

"Father, I hope you are not busy."

"Same as always, my son."

"Mother, brother."

"I have gathered my findings on Asgard's creation here. I thought you might want to give it a read first."

"Any interesting revelations?"

"Very much so."

"This planet isโ€ฆ" His father asked, waving a hand.

"Asgard, before the Emergence of a Celestial destroyed it."

"Great-grandfather Buri and a small fleet of ships survived as they were away."

"Female Einherjar?" His mother raised an eyebrow.

With a planet-sized population, allowing females into the armed forces was not seen as it is today. However, as the loss of each female threatened the recovery of the population, they had to be discharged. As Asgard's past was forgotten, the females were not allowed back in due to misconceptions."

"Until the Valkyries."

Yes, which had the highest standards created for each warrior. Only the ones most likely to survive were allowed; hence, it was such a great honor."

"What of the ships?"

"At first they were used to gather raw materials. Later, they were cannibalized for the parts, as there were no docks for repair."

"There are also several images I managed to recover from the ship's databases. It was old, and most of the data was corrupted."

"To think we have forgotten so much of our past."

"It is shameful. At least it was merely forgotten," Thor muttered. Odin stole a glance at him. He turned back to the uncovered piece of history in front of him, silent.

"There isn't much to add after that. This Asgard was a station researching the seidr well that powers everything today. Great grandfather Buri simply built a new home upon it."

"Accursed Celestials."

"Shall we announce this to the citizens? I think they deserve to know how Asgard came to be."

"Yes. It is ancient history, and we are not about to go to war with the Celestials."

Loki forced the corners of his lips down.

โ€”

His father took his place on the throne. A section of the armrest glowed, projecting his form across Asgard and into its digital counterpart.

"Beloved citizens of Asgard."

"Long have we lived in peace and prosperity, in mine, my father, and his father's reigns. I have come to learn that the price of Asgard's existence was a heavy one."

His tale of the first Asgard and its destruction due to the Emergence of a Celestial was unexpected and shocking news to the citizens. King Buri's toil in building a new home for the Aesir was inspirational.

"My grandfather's actions prove that Asgard is not a place but the people."

Thor's jaw clenched. Loki laid a hand on his shoulder, trying to calm him. He knew his brother's fury was not gone, merely simmering beneath a calm facade.

His mother knew something was off. Both had kept tight lips in front of her artfully, denying everything. If the Queen of Asgard caught a single strand, she would unveil everything. Neither he nor Thor wanted her to be stuck in the middle of a dispute between her children and husband.

โ€”

The revelation had caused quite a stir in the society. The existence of a previous Asgard was overshadowed by the fact that females were allowed to become Einherjar once. It has been over ten thousand years since the destruction of the planet and the creation of the planetoid.

None could bring themselves to reminisce over a place they had never set a foot on.

Voices rose, considering the possibility of petitioning the Allfather to lift the unwritten ban. Sif supported the idea, even if she did not wish to become an Einherjar herself. Asgard's population was stable; there was no reason not to allow females into the army now, especially with the Valkyries gone.

Loki too gave his vocal support but had more important matters on his mind.

โ€”

Hel

He stepped out of the gate. Hela was lounging on a sofa that definitely was not there before.

"Hello sister," he said, tapping the dome.

"Lackey," she greeted without even opening her eyes.

"Really? That is the best you could come up with?"

She waved him away. "I hardly need to expend any effort to insult you. What do you want?"

"Enjoying the synthesizer?"

"Yes, it is a useful device. Impressive what Asgard has created in my absence."

"That was mostly me."

She swung her feet to the ground and stood up in one smooth motion, walking towards him. "A realm inside a computer, a device to create basic needs out of pure energy in seconds, and the rest of your wonders. Quite the talented son Odin has adopted."

"I shall take that as a compliment."

"And I shall ask again, what do you want?"

"I simply came to see how you were doing."

"I am caged like an animal in solitude." She spread her arms, spinning around once. "How do you think I am doing?"

"If you want me to leave so you can brood in silence over your galactic domination plans, you just have to say so."

"I want to be out of here to take what is rightfully mine."

"I have no qualms about it, and neither will Thor once he realizes the throne does not suit him."

"You won't stand in my way?"

"If you want to take the throne and rule as a good queen, sure. We will have issues if you try to drag Asgard into a pointless war of conquest."

"You are strong, but do you think you can kill me where Odin could not?"

"Could not? Dear sister, he stopped his conquest because he could not bring himself to sacrifice you for the Soul Stone."

She froze for a couple of seconds. "Did he tell you that?"

"Of course not," he said, snapping his fingers. "I simply went back in time to see it for myself."

He opened a window to the moment he had witnessed his father turn away from his ambitions. Hela watched, a storm of turmoil in her eyes.

The moment Odin left Vormir, she came out of the trance.

"The Time Stone?"

"It played a part, mostly so I can see how it controlled time in the first place."

She grinned. "I knew there was something wrong with you. I could easily gauge Thor's strength, and even though you are not there, my instincts are screaming of danger."

He tilted his head. He certainly wasn't hiding his presence. The dome keeping her imprisoned did not block everything either. She should have been able to detect his cider.

"Oh, I get it now," he mumbled. The outer layer of his appearance kept everything inside. Since none had seen fit to mention it, he did not realize he was hiding his seidr by accident.

He released a negligible amount of his power, just enough to appear to the sight of seidr.

The matter of her instincts could be attributed to how easily he crossed into the dome and his fearlessness.

"Thank you once more, sister, but we are not here to talk about me."

"I looked up to him, you know. He was this strong, undefeatable figure, bound to bring the Nine Realms and beyond under his heel. Yet he just gave it up because he could not kill me."

"How does that make you feel?" She certainly couldn't be angry at the fact her father did not want to kill her.

"On one hand, I think he is weak for it. On the other hand, I definitely would have fought tooth and nail to survive."

"What of the Soul Stone? Where is it?"

"Here," he said, removing it from the pocket dimension.

"My," her eyes flashed, glued on the orange gem floating in his palm. "I did not expect this, Loki. Who did you sacrifice to obtain this? Your darling older brother?"

His eyes narrowed. "Don't be ridiculous. I simply tore the stone out of the pocket dimension it was hiding in."

Her bloodthirsty grin fell away. "Oh."

"I would never sacrifice my family for power."

"How nauseatingly virtuous of you."

"You have one of the six stones now. Odin had the Power and Space Stones; I am sure you can find them. Any thought of gathering all six?"

For the sake of showing off, he pulled the Reality Stone, otherwise known as the Aether, out as well. Two stones spun in a circle over his palm, promising power, but never touching.

"I won't go looking for them, but I will take them for safekeeping if I happen to come across any more."

"Safekeeping?" Hela slammed her fist on the dome. "You want to safekeep all that power?"

Loki huffed.

โ€”

"What the?!" Hela screamed.

One second she was in her prison; the next, she was whisked away to the void. It was instantaneous, and the sudden change in location took seconds longer than she would have liked to process.

The universe stretched before her. Stars, from the dim, red one of the system to the brighter giants illuminating the infinite darkness light-years away.

It all paled before the entity in front of her. She looked down, trying to see the end of the various swirling shades of green, but her vision failed her beyond a certain point.

Loki reduced his size to only a hundred meters tall, looking down at his sister.

"What are you?"

"Someone with more than enough power."

He sent Hela back to her prison. She needed time to process what she had just witnessed.

โ€”

Asgard

He felt like slamming his head on a wall.

Over three decades, his sister had yet to even consider a different path. She was aware of what awaited her if she attempted to take Asgard's throne by force and drag them to war.

Her pride would literally be the death of her.

Synthesizing a glass of cold, sweet wine, he retreated to his sofa, searching the holovision for a distraction.

He skipped the Word of the Realms, the opera of Buri's Toil, and stopped at seeing the football match between Vanaheim and Alfheim. The Ljosalfar illusion and flight spells were giving the Vanir a difficult time. Their defense-oriented nature-based seidr was excellent for ground defense.

Alfheim Stargrace took advantage of it, keeping the ball in the skies.

"Come on," he said, watching the Vanaheim Weavers finally stop playing around. The goalkeeper covered the goal in a thick layer of roots, eliciting a chuckle from him. Players who could go through Runa's defenses were extremely limited in numbers. Alfheim had two, Aelion and Ilyra.

Who were on maternity leave for their first child.

Unless Ljosalfar could produce a miracle or make a grave mistake, this match would end in a tie.

It came when the striker of the Light Elves tried a daring move. He was preparing a spell while his teammates began to land one by one, tired. The right-winger kicked the ball up, right in front of the striker's raised leg.

Seidr flowed to his leg, creating a harsh, white glow. He kicked, transferring the seidr to the ball and sending it to the corner of the goal. The searing ball struck the roots, spinning and burning. Smoke rose from the point of contact. The roots began to crack, and he rose from his seat, waiting with eyes fixed on the screen.

Just as he was about to see whether another player who could break through Runa's legendary defense would arise or not, a portal opened over the small cube projecting the screen.

A male dropped out of the portal, breaking his stand and the holovision.

He stood there like a wax figure, the smile on his face slowly dying out. His left eye started to twitch, and he dropped his arms, trying to calm himself.

"Where am I? Who are you?!" The mortal with a red, leathery skull screamed, pointing a pistol at him. His garb vaguely reminded him of something, but he had more important matters to consider.

He closed his right hand around the pistol, squeezing it to a scrap. The power source detonated, but it was insignificant enough that he didn't absorb it. His left wrapped around the intruder's throat, ramming him to the wall.

The man's eyes, for he was a Midgardian, widened.

He snarled, hurling him back first towards his desk. He materialized a chair on the human's path. When the red-skulled fool hit the chair, green bindings sprung up, wrapping around his wrist, torso, ankles, and finally, mouth.

With a sharp flick of his hand, a plasma shaped like a blade snapped into existence out of his wrist, buzzing.

He brought the blade close to the struggling human's eye. "I am going to remove the binding in your mouth and ask you some questions. You will answer them, or I am going to ensure the rest of your skin resembles your skull."

The mutated man nodded very enthusiastically.

"Excellent," he said. The seidr tendril around his mouth disappeared as Loki materialized another seat.

"Now who are you?" he asked the wide-eyed man.

"I am Red Skull."

And he was already disappointed by the answer.

"That is the most unimaginative names I heard. You are a human, correct?" He could discern the mortal's nature, which was a human with something else mixed in.

"Yes."

"How did you come to be here?" He had an idea on that front as well.

"I was holding an object known as the Tesseract. Its power mesmerized me first, and then I was in pain, falling."

"The Space Stone." He dragged his left hand over his face. "It must have brought you here because of the others."

He had studied the stones enough to know they were all connected because of the Space Stone, no matter how far apart. The Soul Stone must have dragged this human here to serve as a new guide.

"I believe we got off on the wrong foot. I am privy to the secrets of the Tesseract, and it seems you are too. I can tell you where it is if you release me."

Loki burst out in laughter at the offer.

"It is on Earth where my father hid it for safekeeping because humanity was not advanced enough. Your help is unnecessary."

"Your father?"

He just flicked his hand, ignoring the question.

โ€”

Midgard

True to his word, detecting the Tesseract was simple. The same way it connected all the Infinity Stones together also allowed it to be tracked.

It was in the Arctic waters.

He created a dome around himself and dived in. The cold never bothered him anyway, not as a Jotun and not as he currently was.

The cube was lying on the seabed, unharmed. He took it, feeling the thrum of power inside and the capabilities of an object with control over all manners of space.

He could take it and keep it safe, yet Heimdall was not blind to the Tesseract. If his father had not acted so far, it was because the Gatekeeper advised him not to. He had seen Schmidt's memories. He had only been able to use Tesseract as a power source, a far cry from its full potential.

He took it, but not before leaving a replica behind, siphoning the power of the stone to fill it.

In the next chapter:

"Excuse me, could you be quiet, please? I understand you are celebrating something, but I am trying to work here," he implored, silencing the laughter for a second.

The buffoon in gold finery laughed louder at his words. The masked individuals, or whatever they were, joined him.

"Who even are you, boy?" the entity before him asked. Loki could see that he was composed of energy, a god, so to speak.

"Someone trying to finish a painting," he retorted with a dry voice.

"Would you look at that? We have an artisan here. Here, paint this," he laughed, throwing a melon at his face.

buffoon in gold finery

he was composed of energy, a god, so to speak.
Zeus? That you?

Is he going back in time next chapter? Back to ancient Greece? Or remaining in the present and going to the realm of gods shown in 'love and thunder'? The red skull showing up implies that WWII just ended on Midgard and, while Zeus would still be around, he's not likely to be on Earth in the modern era. If he was, he'd be smiting people for not worshiping him or something; he's not exactly the most inconspicious deity around.

Or is it another gold-clad buffoon of a god?

"It is on Earth where my father hid it for safekeeping because humanity was not advanced enough. Your help is unnecessary."
"It is on Earth where my father hid it for safekeeping because humanity was not advanced enough to abuse its power. Your help is unnecessary."

"How does that make you feel?"
