• A notice about Rule 3 regarding sites hosting pirated/unauthorized content has been made. Please see here for details.
  • Staff is working to deal with the problem of synonymous tags. See here for more information and to suggest tag mergers.
  • QQ will shortly be reconfiguring its site domains. You may need to log in again. See here for details.
  • Due to issues with external spam filters, QQ is currently unable to send any mail to Microsoft E-mail addresses. This includes any account at live.com, hotmail.com or msn.com. Signing up to the forum with one of these addresses will result in your verification E-mail never arriving. For best results, please use a different E-mail provider for your QQ address.
  • For prospective new members, a word of warning: don't use common names like Dennis, Simon, or Kenny if you decide to create an account. Spammers have used them all before you and gotten those names flagged in the anti-spam databases. Your account registration will be rejected because of it.
  • Since it has happened MULTIPLE times now, I want to be very clear about this. You do not get to abandon an account and create a new one. You do not get to pass an account to someone else and create a new one. If you do so anyway, you will be banned for creating sockpuppets.
  • Due to the actions of particularly persistent spammers and trolls, we will be banning disposable email addresses from today onward.

Site domain update

The current site configuration is such that the forum is visible either at the domain "forum.questionablequesting.com", or at "questionablequesting.com". These show identical content, but carry separate logins and other cookies.

This was basically accidental and causes some minor headaches, so it will now change. Shortly, the server will be updated so that "forum.questionablequesting.com" is the canonical domain, and links to "questionablequesting.com" redirect to it. If you are browsing through "questionablequesting.com", you may need to log in again. Thereafter, the site should function as normal. The update will happen at 11:00 PM EDT today, i.e. about half an hour from now.

Behind the scenes, we are also switching reverse proxies (to caddy from nginx). Please report any issues with site performance or stability under this thread.

It's such an incredibly minor and petty thing, but I'm still weirdly happy that my go-to became the default instead of the reverse. :V

Makes me feel like I was right about something entirely pointless, which is the best and most satisfying kind of thing to be right about.

Will there be any downtime for the switch over Or is it the type of quick update where if we're already on "forum.questionablequesting.com" will we won't even notice the change at all?
Dev here (not from QQ, IRL dev), we did recently this at work so I can say from experience that unless something really bad happens you, as a normal user, shouldn't even notice a change.

I was wondering why it showed the login screen when I clicked on a story link last week. Now it makes sense the user that made the link was using the other QQ lol. And like someone said above It feels nice to know I'm using the canon/winner of the parallel sites.

Edit: Also it could just be my old computer or leftover cookies, but I got a few error 502 when reloading pages for a few minutes after the switch/update and the site was slow to load at the same time, but it seems its fine now. Maybe it was just from people on the non forum side logging in.

Same. I looked at my URL and said 'Nice.' Now I can feel superior to the people who used the forumless url. They are now going to use my way, cuz it's right way. >:3
