Modern "re-imaginings" of myths and the like that your really dislike?

Sinnerlust Not sure if the actual Helsing manga/anime ever mentioend Alucard's full name but TeamFourStar wrote voicelines of God calling Alucard 'Vlad Dracul, son of the Dragon' in the Helsing abridged parody series.

They also mention about Alucard being in the care of ottomans/turks as 'the ten years of r*pe'. Not sure if what exactly happened to him in Ottoman care as a political hostage was accurate or not...

Edit: Not that this is supposed to help or hinder anything. Just an intersting piece of trivia

edit 2: nah, just checked. TFS also called him Tepes. But thwy did call him Son of the Dragon. So conscious decision on their parts!
I have to rewatch and see how it was said just calling him vlad tepes, is fine, but when used as a family name how it's portrayed in castlevania and highschool dxd is absolutely wrong. Granted castlevania Dracula isn't vlad tepes so it isn't a big deal for him because he could have just named himself that. As for the rape thing he was a hostage alongside his brother radu to the saltan murad II, and to be honest we don't know, alot of his childhood is blank, but there are story's of murad trying to rape radu so it's possible that actually happened.

Since fairies keep coming up, at what point do you just shrug and say that they're entirely different things that just happen to share a similar name? Because really the more Disney-type fairies have a lot more in common with a wide variety of other nature spirits, or maybe some of the depictions of Shinto's minor kami I've seen in a few places, than they do with the Fair Folk. Not to mention there seem to be an assortment of other not-necessarily modern takes on the subject as well...

Not really, fairy myths are faily unnorganized in regards to these things. Pixies like that come from british stories.
When talking about faires and shuch, you nees to keep in mind that the mytha come from mostly related but differnt places. Irish, scotish, welsh , more modern britain. All of those fairy myth have as many differences as they have similarities.

yeah in Anime their are good kami, bad kami and neutral kami, their not demons by another name. And by that in some Jewish folklore Demons are more fairy like, and not all horribly.

Actually thats not entirely correct for their names. Vlad III Dracula (or draculea) would be the correct term forAlucard as that means son of the dragon. Vlad Dracul was his father vlad II. Tepes would also work because that was Vlad III other epithet meaning the impaler. This all of course IS pointless as their last name would actually be either Basarab (the original noble house) or Draculesti (the branch family created by Vlad II.

Edit:just saw the second edit you made.
