Naruto Est Imperare Orbi Universo (Dio Quest)

[X] Hit every bullseye at a much lower speed. No sense letting on how fast you really are.

How coordinated are we, in this new body, anyway? We might actually miss a few, even if we try to hit every bullseye.

[X] Throw at your normal speed, but miss a few targets - say, three out of the ten. You're aiming to be seen as a prodigy, not someone who's already had training.

We have anbu watching us. I doubt we can hide our skills from them.

[X] Hit every bullseye conventionally at your normal speed.

Making a big impression is a good thing, as long as we have them thinking 'prodigy' and not 'freak of nature'.

Normal showing might get us sent home to utako with no adoption and i'm not convinced that our watchers(aside from yoshina) wouldn't be able to keep up with our full speed to see if this was an honest effort.

Leaving one trump card in reserve is fine, particularly when that trump is The World. We want the training and fame/infamy that excellence brings.

Okay to all of you voting to miss some its going to be damn obvious to the anbu that were missing on purpose. So you trying to avoid standing out is going to make us stand out cause their going to wonder why were missing on purpose.

Wait really? I thought that they wouldn't notice.

Alright, changing my vote to:

[X] Hit every bullseye conventionally at your normal speed.

Really. The Anbu are going to assume that the young boy who's never so much as handled a Kunai was missing on purpose. As opposed to, oh, perfect throw at ridiculous speed the first time he tries ever.

Let me put it this way- Missing is NOT the uncanny choice here.

[X] Hit every bullseye conventionally at your normal speed.

The plan is for them not to notice. The question is whether Dio is better at pretending than the ANBU is at noticing when someone's pretending. You should've already figured out what you think the answer to that is if you've voted to pretend.

They both make us stand out. However getting caught missing on purpose will make us stand out more. Cause their going to wonder why we missed on purpose. At least one of the anbu watching us is Jonin in level. Besides we have already shown that we can tell where the anbu are.

A large part of 'Not getting caught' is 'Not having anyone think there's an issue'.

It's easy to rationalize 'The young child missed' with 'Well, he'd never done it before ever'. Even if our form is perfect, and our speed ridiculous, we could still just fuck up starting because we've never done it.

You know what would really cement our position as a natural prodigy?

[X] Throw the first one wide. Frown. Have the second one nick the target. The third one hits the target off center. The rest, all bulls-eyes.

Fuck it, this is my new vote.

I'm going to have to disagree with you vin. I don't think we can deceive the anbu when it comes to our fighting skills.

And I have to disagree with you, because I've seen no signs of the Anbu being fucking psychics.

You are literally arguing that they are going to be watching us and assuming we'll do perfectly on our first time doing this thing ever. That is... Just, what sort of people do you think our minders are?!

Furiko said that we could fool Yoshino cause she's a chunin and not a Jonin. I think at least one of our minders is a Jonin.

She said that Yoshino wouldn't even notice our throwing technique because we're faster than her.

That's not the same thing.

It's more there usually being a difference between how someone looks when they're actually messing up and when they're pretending to mess up. nightblade expects we'll do something right that we shouldn't and tip them off. Throwing three feet off target with perfect form is still perfect form.

That's not fooling, that's about moving faster than she can. She didn't say we can fool her because she's a Chunin.

Which she said was because she's a chunin.

It's interesting, the things you choose to worry about, and the way you go about trying to make up for your worries.

[5] Hit every bullseye conventionally at your normal speed.

[3] Hit every bullseye at a much lower speed. No sense letting on how fast you really are.

[3] Throw at your normal speed, but miss a few targets - say, three out of the ten. You're aiming to be seen as a prodigy, not someone who's already had training.

[3] Vin's plan

Okay, this argument is getting out of hand, so I am changing once again to the choice that I had originally:

[X] Throw at your normal speed, but miss a few targets - say, three out of the ten. You're aiming to be seen as a prodigy, not someone who's already had training.

I'll change my vote, since I don't want the "normal speed" one to win.

Well, this option now has the majority.

If your going to vote for a vote that hides that we know how to do this already then vote for Vin's. Its the least likely to give us away.

[X] Throw at your normal speed, but miss a few targets - say, three out of the ten. You're aiming to be seen as a prodigy, not someone who's already had training.

You know I might not like this vote. And I may not think its going to work. But I refuse to let the one that is most likely to give us a way win.

[X] Throw the first one wide. Frown. Have the second one nick the target. The third one hits the target off center. The rest, all bulls-eyes.

To your distaste, two of the kunai that you hadn't intended to miss do so anyway. You frown in annoyance, and turn back to Yoshino. "May I try again, please?"

To her credit, she gets over her shock almost immediately. Unfortunately, she does so by slipping back into the role of a nagging mother - apparently it's her usual response to stress.

"Naruto-kun! You shouldn't just wildly throw knives at the fastest speed you can manage! Your throwing speed should always stay in the range where you can aim properly! You could have seriously hurt yourself!" She points at her son. "Shikamaru, make sure he throws them slower next time. I have to have a word with your father." And she heads inside.

"She likes you," Shikamaru says mildly.

You sigh. Mothers are such delicate creatures.

[X] Say you're going to use the bathroom and try to eavesdrop on the adults' conversation.

[X] Invite Shikamaru to eavesdrop with you.

[X] 5 out of 10? Unacceptable. Stay here and try to readjust your throwing style to fit your new frame.

Also what do you know. Throwing stuff at our match speed with out missing on purpose would have had us missing anyway.
