On a Pale Horse (Umamusume/Youjo Senki)

There was only one Tanya fic I can remember where she was afraid of motherhood, and that one was more because she was more or less in the middle ages, and her own mother died in childbirth. And nobody else knew magic able to ease birthing pains or problems. But after she did actually go through with it due to obligation, motherhood seemed to fit her pretty well.

I'm assuming this is Inevitable Dance with/of the Dragons? (on QQ, it's "with Dragons," on SB it's "of the Dragons")

Tanya reincarnates as "Elaena," second daughter of Viserys and Aemma, thus becoming Rhaenyra's younger (full-blooded) sister.

This is, of course, a House of the Dragon crossover.

Elaena uses magic multiple times to aid the women in her family when they are giving birth, and is much beloved amongst her family.

She also slaughtered an opposing army on dragon-back and used her visible similarities (at a distance) to Laenor (and her dragon's similarities to his) to foist the "glory" and reputation off onto him, with the "Dark Storm" effectively becoming like OPM's King.

Those don't have anything to do with sexual orientation. They have to do with the gender of the past life they were reincarnated from. On one ear means they were a mare, on the other means they were a stallion, on a rare few, having both meant they were intersex. In this case it's because Shirogane has been male in one life and female in another.

Uh, the more I know.

I've read both the light novels and the manga, and I don't recall anything explicitly stating that Tanya does not want children. There is an instance in the manga where Tanya expresses her dislike for menstruation, but that is the extent of it. It seems that someone wrote a good fanfic portraying Tanya as someone who doesn't want to be a mother or wishes to avoid childbirth. This fanfic appears to have spread widely within the fandom, becoming accepted as fanon without anyone questioning whether it is supported by canonical material.

They don't say anything specific, but I'm interpretating it from the following elements in Canon:
* Tanya's discomfort relating any form of feminity and womanhood, being clothes, menstruation, social cues, image, responsibilities, etc
* Tanya's image of her ideal future. Usually it's alone, with no partner or child.
* Tanya actively avoiding romantic relationships. There's a summary that says that she got married and had a child, but I can't find the specific chapter and also the WN is no longer Canon.
The lack of an actual answer feels more like Carlo Zen did not know how to write a romance and decided to avoid, leaving nothing but straws to build the few ships that are constant in the fanfic space

Also I don't recall the fanfic you're mentioning.

Fanfiction name?

Only problem is fact that it directly uses phrase "sit on a horse". Given that Uma riding isn't a thing as far as i know, it wouldn't exist in such form in Uma verse.

On the other hand, it just my brain thinking too much about fictional performance of Isekai Loli
Actually, it talks about the young soldier mounting his horse. Which, uh, well that certainly explains why the rest of the song has him whining about never seeing his girlfriend again~

The issue of translation. They translated "siada na konia" aka "sits on a horse" as "mounts a horse"

You're mistaken on the second point because, in the manga, she once dreamed of being the Salaryman again who married a woman from his workplace, and they had a child together.

In any case, your interpretations are your own, but they aren't explicitly canon. Fanfiction writers have considerable freedom to develop Tanya's character in their stories within this framework. Some writers choose to explore Tanya's gender identity or sexuality as she matures, while in other cases, these aspects aren't the main focus and therefore don't need to be addressed in the story.

There's very little of Mother!Tanya, most of it goes sometimes into OOC territory, which also happens in even the most fanon ships (Visha or Lergen), but it becomes almost the norm when motherhood is involved. From strict and loving mother and sexually active with King Robert in Saga of Tanya Lannister to confused husband in Reluctant Ruler, there's not really a floor to touch base, so to speak. Not sure how the author wishes to play it.

One fic that I know that Tanya was happy as a mother of two was the Chinese Empress!Tanya

Every interpretation is equally (non-)canon, but some are more equally (non-)canon than others. Tanya is broadly easier to justify as not having an opinion one way or another due to the multiple factors you can easily stack that way from the original story. Salaryman and Tanya are both very career focused, Tanya is multiple decades older than her prospective romantic partners, the whole gender thing, and there's probably more subtle ones too.

You really only need one of those to torpedo the idea of Tanya having a relationship with anyone in a third+ life fic, and as a corollary you kinda need to fight against them to establish a relationship for her. They're established character traits that by most views should impact her decision making in that field to at least some negative degree.

From my perspective, I believe those interpretations are overstated. I don't disagree that they exist and are important, but they seem overly limiting. I think Tanya is more than capable of falling in love or being interested in finding a partner. You just need to establish the conditions that allow her to do so, and I don't think it would be a struggle depending on the story you're writing. I can imagine that in this story, she would be more than willing to settle down after her racing career ends, once she completes her education, and she inherits the family restaurant.

Yeah it's possible, there's just several things from the original characterization that add difficulty to doing it and make it easier to do the opposite. It's a quick extrapolation from "I'm basically 40 years older than my peers" to "dating is a bad idea actually." While getting the conditions/character growth to go the other way is generally a longer/rougher road.

Once again always getting second place like her first life. It really messed up her perception of how good she is at doing things.
"I only ever come second, it's not that impressive."
"... Shiro... You came second in a race every single week for 3 months... And didn't even look tired or worn out doing it!?"

All this talk about whether Shirogane would want to be a mother or not is ignoring a crucial aspect of her characterization—have you considered the fact that she would feel obligated to continue the family line as the only living Umamusume in her family?

Edit: That and being the only child of her parents.

Tanya's Misunderstanding field taking a totally different direction from normal :p

I can see Shiro and Tensei moving in together after maybe 5-7 years for economical reasons and to have it easier to share food that Shiro create. Then after 5 years after that they have all but married and put the ring on. Everyone else is dead certain they are married while they are still obvious but affirm that they do like to live with each other.

While I don't think Shirogane sees herself as 40~50+ years old, I could see her being uncomfortable with the advances of someone with so much less life experience. I'm personally rooting for Stay Gold to be the final ship. Warring against the "gods" aside, Tanya being with another person knowing of their past life is too interesting a relationship opportunity to not cheer for.

I usually don't imagine Tanya being very active in starting a relationship, but if one falls into her lap with even an 'acceptable' partner, I'd see her going for it.

I tend to prefer the slow burn, 'they're basically an old married couple before either of them realize they're a couple' kind of romances that show up, like We are Each Our Own Devil, A Young Girl's Ten Shadows, or To Commit Heresy. It just feels right for Tanya.

The other way I'd see her in a relationship is the other party aggressively (and straightforwardly) starting it, like The Meditations of a Young Woman, and her not finding any real objections in the partner and just rolling with it.

"We're just good friends" they claim while she is pregnant with their third child.

You could even have a dynamic with this where Stay Gold remains an eternal wanderer, but there's always a restaurant she calls home that she can can return to where Tanya is always there to greet her.

It seems completely in line with Tanya/Shirogane's character to "optimize" her life by turning her family's restaurant into a successful franchise and finding a man she likes enough to marry and raise her children in the benefits of capitalism, and then, after thirty years of marriage, three children, and a grandchild on the way, she realizes and says: Damn, I actually love my family.

A bit like this fan art.

She paused for a moment, feeling something off, before she turned back and loaded some of her training weights into one of her backpacks, shrugging it onto her shoulders.
Hmmm… Perhaps instead of loading the backpack with heavy things I wonder if it would be feasible to make the backpack itself heavy. If she can manage to get something similar done to the tracksuit even better. Perhaps she could even take a stab at running in water in a pool… Though it may be a touch difficult to find a pool for resistance training that's shallow enough for her. ^_^'

My apologies," Shirogane grunted, extracted her hand from the ruined speaker. "I should have recognized the gunshot was fake."

"Don't be too upset," Toujou-san interjected quickly, "it takes some time to get adjusted to the starting gates, and it's quite expected that this one will be damaged–" She paused, her face furrowing in confusion for a moment before she shook it off. "Why don't we run some mock starts first to get you used to the sound?"
Hm. Startling into violence is not an entirely unexpected reaction. The fact she "should have recognized it was fake" was the part that startled people the others more. They're questioning why her immediate response was not to flinch into violence but to instinctively attack *because* it was a gunshot.

Violence breeds violence. Punching someone that's shooting a gun is a risky reflex, but not necessarily wrong.
