He's all but stated to be planning on replacing Liliweiss with Modernia

But it's a little hard to tell if he has genuine loyalty or further plans on changing her to become someone/something for whatever those plans are

I think in canon, he plans on infecting her for a third time, this time with the virus meant to specifically replace her personality as with what presumably occurred with the other Heretics

The first Legendary Commander I can get, said to have been a former Mercenary, not sure on how he got hired for the job but I guess it was due to having had a rapport with Liliweiss before and her being the one to suggest his presence

The rest, they're mainly pointing at what to shoot and definitely being a burden they have to care for. It's like bringing FOBbits with zero training and experience fighting into a warzone, but they have rich important guy connections.

Were probably getting Anis' this year and Neon's next year

I mean they either try to find that one diamond by throwing lots of barely trained people into the meat grinder like Johan only to also throw that away cause it could be a threat on their authority
thinking on some of the side quests here like the one where you search that trainee on the surface and the first thing he does is insulting the squad , like military 101 you don't mess with the people doing the actual fighting if you want to survive
also that nepo baby that sends you out to pick up that ancient military medal so he can claim to have been bestowed it for nepo points
and thats just on the incompetence not going into the actual fucked up shit like the orphanage recruitments etc

what I want to say with that block is tldr the government is either incompetent and malicious or just malicious and needs a full on purge

If the Cummander wasn't such a non-combat Badass, I would have written him off

Those kinds of characters, with zero combat ability and mostly just there, really irritate me

If you ever read/watched FREEZING, it gets annoying that the FFN type miss out too, that every other dude just stands there and shouts "freezing!" with their hands out

YMMV, but to me, the Cummander stands as his own character rather than just being the self insert, hell, he feels like he emotes and thinks more on things than the average light novel protagonist

Seeing the new event about Rapi I have a theory of what it will be like here in OH.

here in OH instead of Rapi in the hospital and how he became. In OH he would explain what became of Red Hood after Joe's "death" and suffering the Mind Switch, 30 years after that Red Hood made a spectacular escape to the surface wandering aimlessly because he no longer has Joe or Goddess at his side.

and in a moment the Red Ash epilogue happens. knowing Rapi when she was a mass-produced nikke, in OH in reality Rapi and Red Hood were always separate and distinct people, then the same thing would happen as in the current event, but the biggest difference is that Rapi would not survive because she would be corrupted by a Rapture, Red Hood unable to kill her because he does not want to lose another friend as Joe suffers from a huge crisis until Rapi with his last strength guides Red Hood's rifle and thanks him for everything before pulling the trigger killing her.

Red Hood would be shocked and then cry and scream out of control because she could not protect only Joe but also lost Rapi, causing Red Hood, lost in her thoughts, to suffer the second mind switch that would kill all of her personality and memories.

reaching the entrance of the ark before fainting and when he wakes up he remembers nothing except the name "Rapi" becoming the Rapi from OH that we know. that would bear Rapi's name in his memory.

I know it's drastic but it would be interesting to show in a better way that Joe's presence also brought negative consequences and not just positive ones.

Now, he was struck by the actual, sheer horror of what had happened back there. The sheer depths of the utter lack of basic empathy Rapi had shown back then. Both in the lead-up to the action taken, and afterwards.

How differently would things have gone, how differently would he have treated Rapi, had he acknowledged the outright sociopathic display back then?

Would he still have been willing to extend his hand to her? Would he have been willing to defy her self-recrimination, accept her, and place his trust in her, come to appreciate, and even adore her regardless?

Was it a good thing that he'd engaged in what should have been a horribly unhealthy coping mechanism, given how positively it had affected his relationship with Rapi?

Would he have accepted her assertion that she was broken, a soulless weapon, had he done otherwise?

Upon further consideration… Had Rapi ever apologized? Had she ever actually acknowledged how cruel and unnecessary it was, to force him to be the one to finish off Marian?

"And she never apologized," Joe noted quietly, more to himself than anything, to really internalize that fact. Jesus fucking Christ, what the fuck.

Like, Rapi literally is going "These are the rules." Even the the 'threatened' bit is purely protocal, from what she said.

She gave reasons for why she did what she did, especially with the Anis part. Where even being close to Marian could corrupt them, Marian being alive was actively calling more Rapture, and that his Handgun is, to quote the chapter, "designed and loaded with ammo capable of penetrating a Nikke's skull for this exact purpose".

From everything portrayed in that scene, this is the standard operations as written, and she explained her reasons fairly well in that moment.

So this whole part feels kinda weird to me.
