Reincarnated as a Fisherman and a Dad

Chapter 99 New
Reincarnated as a Fisherman and a Dad Chapter 99

The four ate their fill. Fortunately, Karlos knew how to use cutlery because of his past life, which gave him unexpected advantages in situations like this. Most of the time, he used a spoon and fork, but since there was a steak in front of him, he needed a steak knife, which he handled with natural ease.

He didn't seem awkward eating despite being surrounded by wealth, although his appearance was clearly out of place compared to the other men dressed in vacation outfits.

While the four men were eating, the maids, including Mrs. Wanda, couldn't help but glance at Karlos and Roman. The resemblance was obvious, especially from certain angles.

Claire confirmed her conjecture, feeling thrilled by her discovery. Roman and Karlos were related. Furthermore, the fact that they were eating together showed that they were close, closer than she originally assumed.

Her mind started working, filled with greed and ambition. Last month, she slowly gathered information about Karlos and was disappointed that he was only a fisherman, a low-income job by her standards. However, she admitted that he was attractive and had a masculine charm that appealed to her. She was hesitant to go full seduction because she cherished her job, which provided stability.

But now, she had made a decision: she would seduce Karlos as soon as possible, believing this was her chance. The money she could get if Karlos inherited a few million pesos from the Alejandro family was enough to satisfy her greed and change her life entirely.

In fact, when Claire learned that the young masters would visit the villa, she immediately returned to her room and put on makeup to be more pleasing to the eyes, hoping someone would notice her. She was confident in her beauty, which she believed was her strongest asset. Unfortunately, she still had to wear a tacky maid uniform and couldn't show her nice curves.

"Karlos, you're probably confused about why we are here." Larry started the conversation once they were done eating. The maids served them dessert, chocolate ice cream. Larry slightly frowned because the ice cream tasted too artificial. Clearly, it was a cheap-ass brand of ice cream, perhaps Nestle. That company was one of the most evil ones in the world, aside from Shell.

But since he knew it was his fault for contacting the maids too late, he let it slide. Instead, he put down the ice cream, uninterested in eating it. Even Roman and Marcos didn't like the ice cream, only Karlos was eating since, to him, sweets were still sweets. The maids were a bit nervous about their reactions.

"You own this villa. I don't see any reason why you have to visit it. This place is yours."

"Indeed, indeed." Larry laughed, brushing it off.

"Larry, thank you for letting our family stay here. It means a lot to me. The fact that you didn't ask for payment eased our savings a lot."

"I'm happy to hear that. You saved my life, the help I offered isn't even enough to pay you back." Larry didn't elaborate, but his sincerity was clear.

"Still, thank you."

"Small matters," Larry waved his hand, as if it meant nothing.

"Well then, the reason why we visited the villa is because of my older brother. He wants to see you personally and thank you."

"I also have business with Karlos," Roman added.

"You too?"

"Yeah, I just thought about it a moment ago. I'll talk to him later."

"Alright. Bring us wine. The most expensive one."

"Yes, young master." Daisy and Claire lowered their heads and went to the wine cellar, grabbing the most expensive wine in their collection.

"By the way, I haven't seen your twins. Children's Blessed Day just passed, and I still haven't given them gifts, so I prepared gifts for them." Larry grinned and signaled a crew member who was in the living room. The crew members stood quietly, trained to be silent and invisible.

The crew member presented two small boxes, beautifully wrapped.

"You don't have to. It's already enough that you let us live in the villa, really." Karlos didn't know what to say. This was too much to accept.

"Karlos, please, I want to do this. Let me, as a friend."

Larry turned to Mrs. Wanda. "Please bring Maya and the twins to the dining room. I want to present my gifts to the twins."

"Hey Larry, you didn't tell me about this. If I knew, I would have also prepared something." Marcos sounded disappointed. He also wanted to give the children gifts and now felt left out. "In the first place, you didn't tell me that Karlos has children."

"You're at fault. You didn't ask."

"This bastard..."

"What about you, Roman? You brought gifts, right? You know that Karlos has two children." Larry turned to Roman, ignoring his older brother's frustration.

"Is money acceptable?" Roman admitted he didn't think about gifts.

"Hah!" Larry scoffed. "It seems like I'm the only one who has a heart. You guys don't have any sympathy at all. Shame on you."

"Don't make it look like you're a saint. You just want to show off."

A few minutes later, Maya and Mrs. Wanda entered, each carrying a child. Maya felt awkward and glanced at Karlos, who also had no idea how to act in this situation. Karlos just nodded, promising her that nothing bad was happening.

"You guys are here! These are my gifts for Arabella and Iñigo. I feel like toys are too cheap, so I decided to buy them gold bracelets instead. It's a matching bracelet with the symbol of a dragon and a tiger, perfect for twins."

"T-Thank you," Maya muttered. "But I think letting us live in the villa without rent is already enough. You helped us a lot. Thank you."

"Nah, just accept them. Here."

Larry didn't bother listening and handed each kid a small box. Iñigo looked at the box curiously, frowning in confusion at the unfamiliar object. Arabella shook the box before biting it, thinking it was food, as usual.

"Mama!" She called for Maya and asked for help opening the box.

Left with no choice, Maya opened it and confirmed that it was a tiny gold bracelet with a dragon design.

"Bah!" When Arabella realized it wasn't food, she scoffed and turned her head away, clearly disappointed.

"Haha, this kid is really something."

Roman stood up and pulled out his wallet. He didn't bother counting the money. He simply handed it to Maya without hesitation.

"This money is for the kids. Just a small amount. Divide it later. Happy belated Children's Blessed Day."

Maya was stunned, and so was Karlos. Based on the thickness of the bills Roman gave, it was at least 20,000 pesos... Karlos couldn't believe that his daily earnings were just pocket change for Roman.

Reincarnated as a Fisherman and a Dad Chapter 100

Just like Roman, Marcos also gave them money, slightly lower than what Roman gave, though still shockingly generous from Karlos's perspective.

"Damn, I lost today. You guys sabotaged me... Karlos, do you accept cheques?" Marcos asked half-jokingly, trying to salvage his pride.

"No, no, no, this is already enough, really. Thank you." Karlos realized that they might turn it into a competition if he didn't stop them.

Larry was laughing while Roman had a smug expression, they were clearly not the losers today. Marcos had a sour face.

"Babe, I'll return to the room now, the kids might disturb your conversation." Maya was uncomfortable with this kind of situation, especially when the wine had arrived and the atmosphere felt too fancy for her. She excused herself, leaving Karlos behind.

"Alright," Karlos answered, although deep inside, he also didn't want to stay in the dining room with these three rich men whose world was vastly different from his. He couldn't even join their conversation and was quiet the whole time.

'Ah, I remember, I have to talk to Larry about the bay harbor.' Karlos mentally noted.

The three men were laughing and joking with each other. They didn't care about the maids who were standing in the corner of the dining room. Mrs. Wanda and the others were waiting for orders while trying to stay invisible. Just like the maids, the crew members were also waiting in the living room.

"Ah, before I forget, Mrs. Wanda, please provide food for my crew. I'll pay for it." Roman said.

"It's alright, you don't have to pay. Wanda, take care of the crew members."

"Yes, young master Larry."

In this villa, Larry held the higher hierarchy since he owned it. The maids were under his command.

As the conversation went on, Marcos invited Karlos for a talk.

The two went to the annex with wineglasses in their hands.

"I know I already said this earlier, thank you for saving my brother. The whole Araneto family owes you. If you need something, you can call me. Here's my contact."

Karlos accepted the card, only to realize that it was not a business card but a military identification card with special markings.

"Larry told me that you're a fisherman. I'm the Rear Admiral of the Coast Guard of Timog-Kanluran province. You can contact me if you need help," Marcos proudly said.

"Okay." Karlos was surprised to hear that Marcos was actually in the Coast Guard. This could really help him, especially in emergencies.

"Karlos," Marcos chuckled. "It seems you don't understand what a Rear Admiral is. It's the third-highest rank in the Coast Guard. There's only one Admiral in Adobo country, two Vice Admirals, followed by Rear Admirals. In short, there are only three people above me in the Coast Guard. I have strong influence in the waters of Timog-Kanluran province." His tone carried both pride and reassurance.

"... T- That's amazing. I'm sorry I didn't know what a Rear Admiral is, but wow... So you're basically the sea king of this region?" Karlos was speechless as he realized Marcos was not simple. The Araneto family clearly had far more influence in the province than he imagined.

"That's the expression I'm looking for," Marcos laughed. He patted Karlos's shoulder and reminded him that he could contact him whenever he needed a backer in the fishing industry.

Karlos felt at ease hearing that. He was a fisherman, and the influence of the Coast Guard could help him a lot. Especially when Marcos's position was quite high, making his support incredibly valuable.

Right when they returned inside, Roman used the moment to talk to Karlos.

"Since you're done talking to Karlos, it's my turn," Roman said to his cousin, who nodded and stepped aside.

Karlos was confused why Roman also wanted to talk to him, but he went along.

The two went to the annex again. Roman pulled out a tobacco stick and offered one to Karlos, but he shook his head.

"I don't smoke."

"My bad, you have twins, you shouldn't smoke." Roman realized his mistake and felt slightly awkward. Still, he lit his tobacco and blew smoke away from Karlos.

"You can speak Japanese, right?" Roman asked in Japanese, testing if Karlos could really understand.

"Yes, I can speak Japanese. Why are you asking?" Karlos replied, surprised that Roman suddenly changed languages, but he followed naturally.

"Good, that's great to hear." Roman nodded in satisfaction, finally confirming his guess.

"Next week, my hotel will have foreign guests, and they are interested in fishing. I need someone who can accommodate them and speak to them. You'll handle the Japanese."

"Me?" Karlos blinked, taken aback.

"That's right. It's obvious you're fluent. The fact that you can follow what I'm saying in Japanese already proves it."

The two continued speaking smoothly in Japanese.

"How much do you earn daily?" Roman asked.

"These past few days, I averaged 20,000 pesos." Karlos answered honestly.

"That's it? Last time you sold a Bluefin Tuna for 1.6 million pesos. How did it become so low?"

"20,000 pesos is already a huge amount for daily earnings. That's a whole month of a middle-class worker's salary." Karlos defended.

"That's so small."

Roman was genuinely surprised. He had never experienced the life of a normal person and had no clear idea how much average people earned. For him, 20,000 pesos was just small pocket money. He couldn't even enjoy a nice dinner in an expensive restaurant with that amount. He usually spent hundreds of thousands every night without thinking twice.

"..." Karlos had no idea how to respond. 20,000 pesos was never small to him, it was survival.

"Anyway, I'll triple that salary if you work with me for a day. You just need to help them fish and talk to them, simple as that."

"I'm in." Karlos accepted immediately. That was 60,000 pesos, three days' worth of fishing in just one day. He decided that he would talk to Brandon to take a day off. Since they had been fishing six times a week, Brandon would probably appreciate a break.

"That's great. Now I have to find more people who can speak Korean and Spanish."

They were still speaking in Japanese.

"Why? You're also looking for someone who can speak Korean and Spanish?" Karlos asked.

"Yeah, my guests are not only Japanese."

"Make my salary 120,000 pesos and I'll help you accommodate the Koreans and Spaniards," Karlos said boldly.

"You can also speak Korean and Spanish?" Roman was speechless.

"I studied linguistics in college, though I didn't graduate."

"No wonder." Roman nodded slowly, realizing Karlos was far more skilled than he initially thought.
