Oh cool, GOG is still doing a good job.

... (doubles back) WHAT?! WHAT THE FUCK?! EA?! EA is doing some customer service? For free? No extra payment? No DLC? Workshop support? What the fuck?!

Amazing, even if Tiberian Sun source code would be appreciated as well. Perhaps in the future as precedent has been set.

Don't know if anyone here played Worlds Adrift some years back before the severs were killed but the single player/co-op remake Lost Skies has a demo out. Tried it out earlier, gonna be honest I hadn't realized just how much I missed that game till I found myself almost in tears playing the demo.

Found one of those "how the fuck did I miss this? How did we miss this?" games. It looks interesting.

As I watch the video, its pretty easy to see why this game series got missed by world wide audiences. It was released exclusively in Germany during the early to late 90s. During a time where it was incredibly common to miss out on great games because most games were sold by word of mouth, good box art, or being mentioned in video game mags. Add in that the first game was a PC brawler which were never successful outside of Iron & Blood... well.

Edit: Amusing, if the comment section is to be trusted, the dev of Clonk refused to upload anything onto Steam because of the old "Shareware spirit".

These days I am still surprised to find that many games are NOT made in the USA and/or Japan

Heya folks this is a little pathetic but do you have any Recs for games where I can make some friends?

My social life is in shambles and I want to fill that void but I have no idea where to start.

Congratulation, there is split faction that just release. It's the mechanical sequel to it takes two.

It probably isn't the perfect solution, but it's a good stepping stone. It's a co-op only game where only 1 person needs a copy to play. I think the dev's have a discord (https://Discord.gg/Hazelight) where you can try to find people who own the game that wants to play with strangers.

I saw that one on the steam page. Maybe I'll give it a try. I've tried Helldivers but I got board fast on it and I've tried ff14. That one I ended up in a guild where no one talked with each other.

Honestly and I hate to admit it, I'm lonely. So I'll take a look at this and maybe that online pirate game Microsoft put out.

That's perfectly fine.

Split faction can be done without mics since it's railroaded enough, but you can probably just keep changing peeps until you find a person who likes to talk and social over it.

I was gonna say something like Deep Rock Galactic, but if you aren't a fan of mission-based co-op (HD2, lethal company, etc.) it might not be one you'd want to play for long.

It's kinda surreal that we will be seeing the Gears of War games released on the PS5. It wouldn't be surprising if we the Halo games as well at some point.

Ya know.... I think I'll give it a shot. But first I'm gonna give HD2 a go again. I mostly got mad at Sony's bs and the constant nerfs to weapons. Maybe things are better now.

Edit: well that didn't go well. Turns out I'm getting old. The arthritis in my hands means I can't really keep up in shooters anymore. Gonna have to hunt down a RPG or something.

Edit 2: Welp I found a game that got me a team to play with. Baldur's Gate 3. Got a full party that's pretty fun to play with so I think things will go well.

I feel kind of underwhelmed by the end of High Rank in Monster Hunter Wilds. There's no rematch for the low rank final boss and I understand what it was going for but the last fight lacks the sort finality and spectacle I'd come to expect from the base game of the last few games. I just feel like the end bosses should've been reversed. Or at least the last High Rank monster should've come sooner and it ended on something different. Not that I'm not having fun with the game, still lot's of weapons and armor I want to make, but I just didn't feel much about the end of it.

Considering the lore implications of Guardian monsters I think ending High Rank on something as spectacular as Zoh Shia, an artificial Black Dragon, would've felt a lot more grand than Arkveld. And I fully understand the implications and importance of Arkveld evolving into a regular monster by shedding it's status as an artificial Guardian monster, but ending with "yeah, it had to be put down for it's own sake" and then just dumping you right back into hunting for the sake of making armor and weapons was really unsatisfying. The High Rank story missions were just "here's tempered monsters, frenzy, Gore Magala, and sometimes monsters will appear outside their usual habitats, now go fight Arkveld". I probably would've been happy ending on Gore if it was structured differently but Arkveld was just like "ah, this again".
