The problem I see with having more stories up for voting is that it's hard for me to keep track of what's happening in a large number of stories, each of which updates around once every 6 months. If it were up to me (and it isn't, and shouldn't be), I'd have fewer stories up for voting, so that we could make progress in some of them faster than I can forget the plot.

This is why I'll be putting two chapters out per month.
There are 10 stories up right now. I'll be adding another 9 back in.

Technically speaking, the average interval between any two chapters of a given story is going to go down slightly.
 
I don't have strong opinions about the change -- I'll recalculate my votes more often since I like several of the stories you'll be adding, but I don't expect it to be much of a hardship.

If you can keep up the two per month plan, I rather think the end result will be more chapters I want to read... so I guess I'm actually in favor instead of neutral. I'm also mildly interested to see how it changes the vote totals, empirically.

I have my favorite stories set aside in a notes file. If you look at my votes, they haven't changed in months, maybe years. Yes, it wastes votes when my favorite is on top, but it's a small price.

Okay, so Wyvern came in just four points ahead of War Games, so no prizes for guessing at least one of the two winners next month. Yes, I said two winners. As I've already mentioned in the comments, along with the expanded story list, I'll be writing up the top two vote count chapters every month from now on (starting February). So far, it looks like the takers are War Games and One More Trigger, with maybe Recoil and Hostage Situation dropping in March. After that ... who knows.

(Incidentally, I would like to apologise to @Sleepyfoo for making his self-appointed job so much more complicated ... or is it easier? I have no idea. Anyway, if I've made it harder, sorry about that.)

Note: As Collateral Damage, Earning Her Stripes, Reality Intrudes and Snek is a Good Boy are based on short, sharp chapters you'll be getting two 3-4K chapters each time either one comes up, instead of one 7K+ chapter.

For anyone who hasn't voted on this thread before, the voting rules go as follows:

1) UP TO six votes. I will not count anything extra, and a write-in will likely be ignored (if I want to write a different story, I will, but at my own discretion). Suggestions are welcome, but I am under no obligation to carry them out. And just remember, the more stories I am writing, the longer it will take for your favourites to roll back around.
2) First vote is worth six points, second is worth five, and so on.
3) You can't vote twice on the same story. The voting code will count the last vote and ignore previous ones.
4) If I say "Voting is CLOSED", then this post comes up, with "Voting is OPEN" at the bottom, then you can vote again.
5) If I say "Voting will continue", it's still the same voting period. Voting has not restarted. You can not vote a second time.
6) When I have finished a few of the current fics, I will look at bringing stories back on to the list.
