Quite frankly, not sure what to post here. But I do want to be able to edit my full account details, so here's a random question for y'all:

You guys prefer your steak well-done or medium-well? I don't really have a preference, but I'm kinda curious to see what you guys think.

Medium well, well-done (often by garbage cooks) tends to be more charcoal than meat. Preferably medium to medium-rare, but again garbage chefs and the fast-cheap-good food triangle.

Well done. If you are at all suspicious of your meat source, it needs to be well done. If you want to store it and eat it over half a week, it needs to be well done. If you care about bioavailability for sports nutrition purposes, it needs to be well done. If you need it to be fully and easily digested, it needs to be well done. Well done meat can be the toughest, if you want something to sink your teeth into and chew, and it can be the softest, if you want something slowcooked that melts in your mouth.

Neither, reason being my parents only cooked well done meat, and with steak.... Well I grew a dislike for that form of meat big enough that I dislike it even when not the texture of rubber, I instinctively dislike it, my appetite flees and jaw feels sore just looking at steak.

If I have to have a steak for some reason- wedding where it's the only meat or some such- medium well I'll live with but I'd rather a medium well or even well done burger- ground beef doesn't suffer as much from being well done as steak does though it's still not great.

Same exact story as me. I used to order burgers as Steakhouses when I was a kid because I thought all stakes were like those rubber hockey pucks my parents love. lol. But then when I move out, I got the courage to try a medium then a medium rare steak and I've been a connoisseur of it ever since. Literally the only way to eat it is with at least a little bit of pink. Anything else you lose all the flavor.
