A thread for any Warhammer 40k what if's you can think of, not for arguing who is right, or the morality of any faction, especially the Imperium & Chaos, nor to discuss who will win, nor how possible for what if to happen, but where it will go after it happened, if you don't like the what if, ignore it or suggest something else.

With that out of the way, i will start with two possibilities:

Isha is indeed the tree of life, and Guilliman & Mortarion fight distracted the trash bag( aka Nurgle)enough, that Leman was able to sneak with her, with Isha too weak to resist Leman.

The Horus Heresy & The Roboutian Heresy loyal and traitor Primarchs alongside their legions appear in the Imperium & the Warp, with their plants & everything else included.

The two lost Primarchs are infact just that, lost, as in they were never found in the first place.

I know this is basically stated to be untrue in canon, but it would honestly be more interesting then, they died lol, the possibility that there are two planets ruled by Primarchs out there would be much more interesting than whatever happened to them to get erased.

The Carcharadons, Space Sharks are not any one type of space Marines, but a mix of Raven Guard, Night Lord, World Eater and Death Guard all together.

I'm wonder if the Black Templars have ever lost an entire chapters worth of Space Marines in say a warp anomaly or something else were they were cut off for a long time and presumed lost by the rest of the chapter, and when they finally returned they had a different name for any number of reasons after what they went through and ruled with it? Would be awesome.

What if ever pre-Primarch Reunion Legion was their own legion entirely? Or the division between Terran born Space Marines and the various home world's is too great to overcome and the legions split in two entirely.

There's an Idea I been tossing around for couple years now based on a loyalist Lorgar. The point of divergence would be Lorgar somehow reading the Book of Job and as a result interprets the burning of Monarchia as the ultimate test of faith. During the Heresy, Lorger takes the Dorn's role in leading the defense of Tera and takes the opportunity to convert the population to Emperor worship. With the result being schism between Guilliman's Imperium secundus which keeps the Imperial truth and Lorgar's Holy Imperium which has the Ecclesiarchy as its state religion.

Lorgar's Imperium would be a centralized theocracy, ruled the priesthood and with Lorgar as the high priest. Those Space Marines that joined Lorgar's imperium maintain the legion structure (Which is a large part of why they did) and their close ties to the Army and Navy.

Guilliman's Imperium would be a lot closer in structure to canon, with space marine split into chapters, the Guard and Navy's independant command chain, and the government split into the different Adeptes.

The two Imperiums would have rocky relationships, and have warred more than once, but are allies against chaos.

How do you keep Lorgar out of Horus or Erabus' hands?

1)Speaking of women as transhumans. I've been toying with my own si wh40k story idea.

In mine the emperor and Erda were working on a separate line of superwarriors. Where the SM were designed for brute force this group was meant to hunters who focused on information gathering. The SM would be elite soldiers like SaS/spetsnaz where this group was meant to be elite law enforcement like Rainbow Six. This group would be inherent blanks.

The catch was aside from the primarch the implants only work on females and only females from the primarchs direct bloodline. His children would also be blanks and bred true, but the offspring would be women.

Oh and while they can artificially gestate fetuses ivf and cloning dont work.

So yeah the si is now forced to breed his legion into existence....

My two greatest what if's for 40k are always are

1. What if the emperor was more human?
2. What if horus heresy happened
For funsies
3. What if primarchs had a good father figure

Ps: I have never played any 40k or read 40k media mostly fanfic

Hello guys, I want to put in here a what if scenario (among few others but this one stands out to me at least as no one so far as ever thought about it) that's been bugging me for a while now, to the point that I have to resort to ChatGPT to bounce this idea with, bear with me on this and give me you constructive criticisms as well your thoughts on it,

Here we go, what if humanity here has evolved not just the psyker gene but also the pariah aka blank gene as well in the same demographic growth in a opposite yet parallel lines, not unlike in canon 40k where for every 3 psyker born of every 10 normal human, 1 will be born blank/pariah...

In other words as well as adding to it here, how would the anathema deal and take into account of his long term goals and plans for humanity when he and other perpetuals like him (erda, grammaticus, peirsson and malcador) observed and noticed that its not just human psykers being born but also pariahs/blanks here as well, not to mention of the formation, shape and character of the imperium, the Astra militarum, inquisition, ecclesiarchy, mechanicus, astares, primarchs and especially his plans goals like the webway project, the imperial truth and his deal with the chaos gods, not to mention events like the great crusade, horus heresy, or even further back like the daot, iron men revolt, the long night, age of strife to unification wars in terra...

To other factions, like the eldar, orks, necrons (especially the c'tan as the pariah gene is related to the null pylons/their tech) to the tau, leagues of votann and the tyranids...

Hope you guys can give me your thoughts in this, this one has been buggered me for a while and it hit me after reading the roboute heresy fanfic.....

Hmm, the Sisters of Silence already exists, I get that you want to drastically increase their numbers, but the Chaos Gods will simply thin their numbers, granted a lot more aggressively, yet thinning their numbers they will, the Imperium might fair slightly better, or Morty might chooses to side with the Imperium cause of them, leading to the fall of a different Primarch.

The Emperor and Malcador can blew in through the psychic dampening caused by the priah gene, so aside from thinking that humanity has another useful tool, they won't factor into his plans too much.

The Eldar faced the Necrons just fine, they can take on a weaker version of them.

The Necrons won't have any difficulty fighting against something mimicking their abilities.

The Orcs will simply think of it as an interesting challenge, and nothing more.

No no no, I get what you're trying to tell me but think and really listen to my post, here, in the canon 40k universe humanity during the daot has evolved and had grown their psyker potential with leads to the collapse/long night, what I'm try to clarify here in my 'what if' is that what if it's not just psykers but also pariah in the same/equal footing, this alone with somewhat change/shift the trajectory/shape of the setting abit more especially to humanity itself and to anathema's believes, views, and goals for humanity (especially in the canon 40k he wanted humanity to become a psyker race like the Eldar without their flaws to master it, that's one of the reasons why the Imperial creed is formed, now add that in here if he sees that humanity here is evolving not just to use, feel and harness the warp/inmaterium but also silence/live without it, humanity evolves on both opposite sides of the spectrum, in a warp and anti warp Ines and states, ala the eldar/krorks for the warp and necrons & c'tan in realspace on the venn diagram)...
