I would prefer an XF2 forum and not getting doxxed/hacked than an XF1 forum and being doxxed/hacked.Oh well... There goes the neighborhood. I'm going to miss this place.:(
Well, there's always Fanfic Paradise. The owner of that site swore she'd never change it from Xen 1. Ever.
So I still have someplace to go.:)
It is kinda empty at the moment.:(
But, wow, it has an original fic by Ack. That I've never seen at anywhere else. I can read an original Ack fic!:)

Again, this is not just wild speculation. Orain got hit, and the apparent motive seems to be that they hosted a fork of TVtropes that covered porn works and porn tropes (and also things like the Corruption of Champions wiki). QQ is mostly a fork of SB for porn stories. See any similarities here? SB is smaller than TVtropes and QQ smaller than Orain in its entirety, but not by that much.
Fanfic Paradise may escape this fate by simply being too much of a ghost town to bother with, but if it does manage to grow it'll be in this same bind. You can't have all four of "large forum", "allows porn", "uses vulnerable software", "doesn't get hacked".
Well, I personally agree Fanfic Paradise's Dark Goddess in charge of it. Xen 2 sucks. Xen 1 rules.
...if they get caught, and they're in a country that co-operates with the West on charges of hacking. Most hackers aren't caught.Hmmm... Hostinger.com, Fanfic Paradise's host, is very strict about that of thing. Anyone hacking one of their sites gets a nice trip to jail.
SSL is about protecting users from someone impersonating the site, and about protecting communications between users and the site from an evil ISP. It's not about protecting the server from being hacked. Both forums are on fanficparadise.com . Which has a lifetime SSL certificate thing. They should be secure enough for anyone.
There's an option to do that in XF1; you just missed it.I just hope XF2 fixes the issues with the search function not being ordered chronologically, it's a real annoyance to jump about a months and years between various searched posts.
Huh, that should be default, no other XF1 site I can think of has it otherwise. There's an option to do that in XF1; you just missed it.
User menu at top-right -> Preferences -> Search Options -> Most Recent.
I hate you so much. If you're not gonna do it just say so, so I can write my stuff in XF1 format. If your gonna change it would you please get the fuck on with it so I can write my stuff in XF2 format. I don't want all my shit to break because you switch after I started using XF1 format. But either way don't taunt and mock me about it please. I can trust you zero percent on this 1-2 month thing becauseSo, I guess we'll be doing the Xenforo 2 upgrade instead. We've reached out to an experienced consultant to assist with the upgrade, and hopefully it will be done within 1-2 months.
Kept you waiting on that, huh?
I have waited two and a half fucking years. I even bought a green name.

Make a decision and get it done.
If you don't have the manpower or skill, let me know how much money you need to hire a professional for the fifteen seconds it takes to click an upgrade button. Sorry, I know that's an unfair hyperbole, but I'm kinda pissed.
We can't exactly stay on unsupported XF1 forever. (Honestly, I don't get the hate for XF2. Yeah, the XF1 interface is a bit nicer, but it's not exactly a huge change.)I for one hope they neverupgrade... downgrade to the horrible abomination called XenForo 2.
Legit didn't notice this til now, sorry.I hate you so much. If you're not gonna do it just say so, so I can write my stuff in XF1 format. If you have any posts that use complex BBcode, it'd actually help us if you gave us links to them- so we can verify before-and-after conversion.

You mean the exact position of the button next to thread list? (Because QQ already has an ignore function) Presumably there will be one there too since the ignore function I have seen on XF2(AH's for years now and more recently SB's) have it there. Will the upgrade come with an ignore thread function like SB has? Being able to filter out stories I don't like or have no interest in would make looking for updates or new stuff so much easier.
I literally must be blind because I never noticed it. How long have we had it?You mean the exact position of the button next to thread list? I don't recall about the threads list pages in particular, but we've had an "ignore thread" function for as long as I can recall. So, minimum estimate of "at least several months before April 2017"?I literally must be blind because I never noticed it. How long have we had it?
2015 I think? Maybe earlier, but that is about when I remember it already existing and what I could find from a quick search.I literally must be blind because I never noticed it. How long have we had it?
It is alright, happens to the best of us.

What the above posters are referring to is the 'Ignore Thread' link, located next to the 'Watch Thread' link at the top of every page in a given thread.I literally must be blind because I never noticed it. How long have we had it?
Is there the ability to have ignored threads not appear among search results? It would be rather handy. What the above posters are referring to is the 'Ignore Thread' link, located next to the 'Watch Thread' link at the top of every page in a given thread.
You may be referring to the ability to Ignore a thread from a given sub-forum threadlist, which was introduced relatively recently on SB. In which case, that would indeed be a nice thing for QQ to acquire.
On SB, I would have rated this funny, because clearly we can, and likely will.
I mean, things have apparently progressed to the point where they're throwing money at it. I doubt Xon is doing his consultancy for free, after all.On SB, I would have rated this funny, because clearly we can, and likely will.
Okay, allow me to rephrase: we really shouldn't stay on unsupported XF1 forever. On SB, I would have rated this funny, because clearly we can, and likely will.
