Funny enough I haven't played any myself. My entrance into it was watching the OG Animes, the animes of the specific shows and the LPs of Another Century Episode and SRW. I got addicted to the idea of a massive mecha crossover.

Ended up being a logical part when I came to think on the existence of dragons initially before I began to expand it to all the other places that might have ended up altered until I ended up with a disunited USA, an ascendant Britain and the sky bring ruled by dragons and so many other things. Really is a whole new world.

Kane's Unseen Adventures and the Nice Guy fics are great! I just wish they were longer and in a setting with better girls.

RWBY is decent, but limited and Worm just isn't a setting i care for.
