The reason why there's a "Homelander + Ancestor" meme pun is because Homelander is translated as "祖国人" while Ancestor is translated as "祖先", and also because people think that if they were Homelander, then they'll make the world treat them like an ancestor, because ancestors are the most respected class

There's this one isekai that kind of combines the "simultaneous isekai" idea with some of those apocalypse ideas; it basically has the MC have this "tower of babel" that extends across multiple multiverses, so like on each floor you can open a door to a different world, and the MC keeps the harem inside the tower, but there's no "planeswalker" BS where you can just eject yourself out of the world

So it always starts out with the MC entering a low-tier apocalypse world like highschool of the dead and just grabbing all the female characters, killing all the male characters, and then leaving, because they don't want to stay in the first place, and then heading to danmachi to let them all level up, and then going to campione to power up, before heading to DXD

but honestly, I feel like there's a lot of unexplored potential to this kind of simultaneous isekai, though it's not really simultaneous, but basically you can go back at any time, that kind of thing, basically there's a lot of cross setting trading and powers synergy

I guess also base building because who wouldn't like to have a massive wizard tower

Little bit of both honestly. On the other hand, my muse has been pushing me towards writing something new for my snippet thread, which -conveniently enough- is liable to be GoM adjacent in the form of another recursive fanfic idea. There has been this one fanfic I've been reading that has... let us say been tempting me to write an omake or recursive fic or some kind.

If you're at all curious about what exactly has been strangling my muse lately, the fic responsible is "Ignis et Furor" over on Spacebattles, a Worm fic with a very mild MLP cross in terms of altpower. To say the least... it definitely has that "trainwreck you can't look away from" energy, and my own comment in the thread kinda explains what's inspiring me to write something involving it.

Its gonna be a big maybe from me. I hit a roadblock around the middle of chapter 8 and whenever that happens I gotta backtrack. If I do ever get more mountain king content out, it's probably gonna be a rewrite. I'm glad you enjoyed it though!

So your opinions on how well Worm is put together is well known, but I'm curious if you have read it's spiritual antithesis Astro City? Both focus on the daily lives of the super community more than the big battles, but while the message in Worm seems to be that things will always get worse in Astro City it was that while things can get bad for a time they can get better again.

I love Astro City. I've been getting back into comics lately and Astro City still holds up amazingly well. It doesn't have a lot in common with Worm other than superheroes, though.

That's why I called it the spiritual antithesis. Worm has despair, Astro City always has the silver lining of hope. Though both deal with life outside the mask, and are more character driven than focusing on big fights like most comics. My fave storyline was the middle aged supervillan who did his time in prison and then started a failing business as a PI once he got out.
