Started playing Scarlet Nexus. Definitely a game trying to be an anime, so there's that. The OP is pretty cool, at least.
Went with Kasane to start (it's got dual protagonists with the story from either viewpoint, I think) and I'm kinda digging her attitude. TL;DR: Something something post-apocalypse, with mutated monsters called "Others" that look like they came out of a PMMM Witch's barrier or Bayonetta angels- pretty grotesque, that is. You play as kids with psychic powers working for the (somewhat authoritarian so they may be the ultimate enemy, but considering the threat level presented by Others...) government to protect the city and exterminate Others. Kasane and her adopted elder sister Naomi (who's both shorter and weaker in multiple ways) get sorted into a squad with a genki telepath, a stoic older chad, a proud punk that thinks he's better than you, and an Ara Ara~ squad leader, and so far have faced one fairly deadly boss Other where they didn't expect it. Plot isn't kicking off just yet- though Kasane does run into the other protagonist.
Oh, and Naomi's into the male protag, so Kasane's very much doing her Big Sis investigation on whether he's good enough for her or not. Meanwhile, Kasane seems to have a thing for older men- specifically his squad leader.
I don't think I'm even through the tutorial yet, but the battle system so far... feels a bit clunky, but not bad. Kasane's power is Psychokinesis, so she uses 'knives' though they're more like shuriken, flying them around for basic attacks at mid-range, and chucking big shit lying around for long range. You can also temporarily take on the power of your other party members on a charge gauge for various effects. I'm feeling possible feature creep, but we'll see.
